was born June 1891 in Nebraska, the son of George and Mary (Sides) Monk. In the 1885 Nebraska state census George, Mary, and son Albert (11 months old, born in Nebraska)live in Franklin County, West Franklin precinct - south of Kearney/Minden. George is a farmer, but not listed in the agricultural schedule, indicating he did not own land.
On the same census page is Mary's uncle (
James Murphy).
George is listed in the 1890 Kearney County Gazetteer as a farmer in Osco.

They had Lester L. in 1921, Edna Lois in 1924 and Lottie also in 1924. All three were born in Nebraska.
They moved to Algona Iowa (probably because Lottie was there).

In 1925 Algona, Lesley Monk is 30, Carmen 21, Lester 3, Lottie 1, and Edna 1.

Carmen died March 1, 1926. She's buried in the Burt Cemetery, Kossuth County.
Leslie married Mary Daviny and they had Deloyce Monk.


September 1927 Yuma "Mrs. Mary Monk and son Leslie, accompanied by the three chlidren of the latter and a niece, Miss Velma White, all of Kearney, Co., Neb., have been visiting at the Albert Monk home the past week. Mrs. Monk and Leslie are mother and brother of Mrs. Albert Monk. During their stay they visited other relatives and friends in Yuma County."

Leslie married Laura Wilson 4 August 1932 in Kearney, Nebraska, and they had Betty (1930-2014), Leslie Eugene (1930-2013), Deloyce, and Everett Dwayne Monk (1934-2009).

In 1940 Leslie is in Bonner County, Idaho, working as a thresher on a farm. He's 45, wife Laura is 28. Leslie said that in 1935 he was living in Morrill County, Nebraska. They have Elizabeth, 10, son Leslie 8, daughter Deoloyce 7, and son Everett 5. All were born in Nebraska.

In 1942 Lester L. (Ruby J.) Monk is a driver, living at 630 W. McAndrews Rd. in Medford, Oregon.

1943 Medford "Lester L. Monk, 22, Talent charged with driving a truck with no clearance lights. ."

1944 "Lester LeRoy Monk was inducted into the army at Fort Lewis on November 21, according to the registrar at the selective service board."

He received an honorable discharge in 1946, reporting to the board in Medford.

Lee, Van Nuys, Calif., were united in marriage at an impressive double ring ceremony May 27 at 7 p.m. The sacred vows were read by the Rev. Cyril Dorsett at the Methodist Church in Myrtle Creek before 75 relatives and friends. The church was decorated with a profusion of spring flowers arranged by Mrs. Onn Stuempges. Mrs. Stuempges sang "1 Love You Truly" and "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ed Walters. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina-length bridal gown of white embroidered crystaline. She wore a finger-tip illusion veil and carried a white Bible topped with a bouquet of white carnations and lily of the valley. Miss Janice Trees, sister of the bride, wore a pink nylon gown and wore a pink carnation corsage. Bonnie Cathcart and Roberta Farrel of Myrtle Creek, wore blue . Following an enjoyable social hour Mrs. Bliele served lovely refreshments to the two guests of honor. pink taffeta ballerina-length gowns with white carnation corsages. Her other attendants were Claryce Humphreys and Myrna Stuempges, who lighted the candles. Larry Lee, brother of the bridegroom, from Van Nuys, Calif., was the best man. Weldon W. Barnes and Robert Lincecum of Myrtle Creek acted as ushers. Following the ceremony the guests were invited to attend a reception held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Westwong of Myrtle Creek. The table was decorated with the traditional three-tiered cake."

In 1971 she was named Barnes, and in 1973 as Ilett.

"Loren was born in Nampa, Idaho to Herbert and Iva Ilett on February 06, 1938.
Loren, 70, of Sedalia, Colorado, died June 02, 2008 after a tragic motorcycle accident. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jackie Ilett and his brother James. He was survived by his brother Don Ilett and his four sisters Eleanor Syrie, Myrna Ilett, Barbara Fielding and Jeanie Snyder.
He grew up and went to high school in Roseburg Oregon, joined the US Army and was stationed overseas until he was called back home to help take care of his family after his father was badly hurt.
He lived in Oregon until 1977 where he raised his 6 children who also survived him; Joe Ilett, David Ilett, Susan Ilett-Owens, Dan Ilett, Ledeen Lee-Rickey and Robin Lee.
He worked for Southern Oregon Battery and Oregon Welding Supply for many years, was a member of the Elks and enjoyed Square Dancing.
In 1977 he relocated to Colorado where he continued to raise his family while enjoying hunting, camping, working on his 1955 Ford truck and square dancing. He worked for IGP from 1978 to 1997.
In 1997 he moved to Buckeye, Arizona where he retired from Air Liquide. He enjoyed being part of the vintage car club, belonged to the Elks and was the Noble Grand for the Odd Fellows.
In retirement, Loren spent time reading and rereading his Louis Lamar collection. He loved studying about WWII war planes and watching John Wayne movies. He was very dedicated to his two Schnauzers Duke and Sweetie. He enjoyed playing card games of all kinds, especially Hand & Foot, Cribbage and Pinochle.
In January 2007 his wife Jackie passed away and because of that he decided to move back to Colorado to be closer to family which included 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He did not get to be with us in Colorado for very long, but the time he did spend here was filled with visits from his boys and grand kids. He was happy to be back in the state where he had enjoyed so many years. "

"Everett DeWayne Monk, 75 of Eltopia WA, went home to his heavenly Father on December 5, 2009. Everett was born April 30, 1934 in Bridgeport, NB to Leslie and Laura Monk. In 1941 his parents moved the family west and they settled in Elmira, ID. On June 12, 1954 in Sandpoint, ID, he married Dorothy, the love of his life, soon after they started their family. In 1965, Everett and Dorothy moved to Eltopia to raise their family. Upon moving to Eltopia, Everett took over his father's trucking business. Everett worked for several companies and farmers through out his career as a truck driver. The past several years he has bee semi-retired and recycling scrap metal. In his free time he liked to hunt and fish but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Everett was a kind and loving man who would go out of his way to help his family and friends. Everett was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy; parents Leslie and Laura, brother Lester, grandson Christopher, and son-in-law Daniel Cantu Jr. He is survived by his sons Michael (Denise) Monk of Pasco, and Mark (Gidget) Monk of Eltopia; daughters Sharon (John) Jackson of Stanfield, OR and Leslee Monk-Cantu of Pasco; grandsons David Monk of Kennewick, Kyle Monk of Pasco, Jon Tomas Cantu of Pasco; granddaughters Nicole Monk of Eltopia, Elizabeth Monk of Pasco. "Sharon Kay Monk-Jackson of Stanfield, Oregon, passed away on May 9, 2014, at the age of 53. Sharon was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on February 1, 1961, to Everett & Dorothy Monk.
Sharon worked out of Teamsters Union in construction and was also a truck driver. She had a passion for the outdoors, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, antiquing, rock hounding, and gardening. She was a long time member of Loop Rd. Ladies Harmony Club.
She leaves behind many that loved her dearly including her husband of 16 years, John Jackson; her brothers, Mike (Denise) Monk of Pasco; Mark (Gidget) Monk of Eltopia; Sister Leslee Monk-Cantu of Pasco; Stepchildren Angena (Shawn) Grove of Ontario, OR; Jennita (Ben) Walton of Halsey, OR; and Kreg (Leslie) Jackson of Salem, OR; 6 grandkids, 4 nephews and 3 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Nephew Christopher Monk, and brother-in-law Daniel Cantu, Jr.

"Michael Allan Monk, 62 of Pasco, WA passed away on November 7, 2017 at the Tri City Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick, WA. Michael was born on November 7, 1955 in Sandpoint, ID to Everett and Dorothy (Chapin) Monk and was the oldest of four children. In 1979 Michael began his career with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department as a Reserve Road Deputy. Shortly after, he became a Corrections Officer in the jail. He worked hard to become a Sergeant and then finally the Luetenant. In 2016 after 37 years of service, Michael retired from the Franklin County Sheriff's Department. Michael was a hard worker and enjoyed his job. He was loved and respected by all. In 1981 Michael married his wife of 36 years, Denise (Calihan) Monk. They have two children, Elizabeth and Kyle. Michael enjoyed going on camping trips with his family and hunting and fishing with his brother & best friend, Mark Monk. Michael also had a passion for working on and restoring motorcycles as well as riding them. He belonged to the Retro Riders Motorcycle Club and the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Dorothy Monk and his sister Sharon Monk. He leaves behind many that loved him dearly including his wife Denise (Calihan) Monk of Pasco, WA, daughter Elizabeth Monk of Kennewick, WA, son Kyle Monk of Pasco, brother Mark (Gidget) Monk of Eltopia, WA, sister Leslee (Shannon) Swimmer of Pasco, WA, nephews David Monk, Isaiah Cantu & Jon Cantu and neices Nicole Monk & Lili Cantu. Betty is buried in Bonners Ferry, Idaho # 129154280.
"Elizabeth (Monk) "Betty" McGlocklin, 84, passed away at home April 22, 2014 with her daughters and Horizon Hospice attending her needs. She was born in Kearney, Nebraska January 27, 1930 to Leslie and Laura (Wilson) Monk. Moving from the dust bowl to Cheyenne, WY and then Elmira, ID, she attended school and worked as camp cook for her dad who logged the Grouse Creek area. She met Gene McGlocklin at a dance in Naples, October 1948, and married him the following spring. She raised her five children in Bonners Ferry, ID, where she waitressed at the 3 Mile Café, square danced, PTA and lead in 4-H. Moving to Spokane in 1970, she waitressed at Skaggs in the valley and latter owned and ran Crestline Laundry. After retiring, she worked as a caregiver for another 20 years. Betty always loved helping and being with people. The only friends she did not have were the people she had not met. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Douglas. She is survived by sisters Lois Jorgensen and DeLoyce Easley; sons, Larry and Chuck (Amy); daughters Vivian (Dwight) Pauley and Janet, all of Spokane; plus eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines RD, Spokane Valley, WA and funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 11:00 A.M in the funeral home's Colonial Chapel. Burial will be on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 12 noon at the Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry, ID.

LESLIE EUGENE

August 1951, Yuma "Pvt. Leslie Monk of Elmira, Ida., now in a branch of the army engineers, stopped Friday for an overnight visit with his aunt, Mrs. Anna Monk, and other relatives. He was enroute from Fort Sheridan, I11., to be stationed at Camp Carson near Colorado Springs."

Delma Mae Monk, 78, of Priest River, Idaho passed away Sept. 19, 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Delma was born March 29, 1927 in Wapakoneta, Ohio the daughter of Enos E. and Josephine D. (Welch) Justice. On December 3, 1952 she married Leslie E. Monk in Colorado Springs, Colo. The two made their home in Colorado where Delma worked as the President for two gold mining companies Ophir and Joe Dandy. The two of them moved to Priest River Idaho three years ago from Cripple Creek, Colo.
Two of Delma's greatest loves in her life were her family and art. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Delma also loved to paint and anything that had to do with artwork. She was known to be a great seamstress as well.
Survivors include her husband Leslie at the family home; three daughters Dora (and Bruce) Timblin of Oldtown, Idaho, Diana Wheeler of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Debra Vigil-Jones of Priest River, Idaho; one son Justin ( and Jacki) Monk of Spokane Valley, Wash.; ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Delma was preceded in death by her son Roy Monk in 2000. A Memorial Service was held on Sept. 24, 2005 at Peninsula Union Church in Priest River, Idaho. Following the memorial service a celebration of Delma's life was held at the family home in Priest River, Idaho. Memorial contributions may be made in Delma's name to the Breast Cancer Foundation. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River, Idaho is in charge of arrangements.
Leslie Eugene - who attended a Monk reunion in Yuma in 2012, died in 2013.



Roy J. MONK, 36, died Friday, February 11, 2000, at Humboldt General Hospital. A native of Sandpoint, Idaho, he was born July 6, 1963, to Leslie and Delma Frost Monk. The family moved to Buena Vista, where he attended Buena Vista High School. He moved to Winnemucca in 1990 with his whife, Karen, and two sons, Josh and Jeff. He is survived by his wife, Karen, and sons, Josh and Jeff, all of Winnemucca; his parents, Les and Delma Monk of Penrose, Colorado; brother, Justin Monk of Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Debbie Vigil of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dora Schwab of Idaho, and Dianna Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11 am. Thursday, Feburary 17, 2000, at the United Methodist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Albertson Funeral Home.
"Bruce Cameron Timblin was born February 19, 1949 at the old Bonner county hospital when it was still in a house in Sandpoint, Idaho. He died at his home near Oldtown, Idaho on the evening of Jan. 24 2019. He was the oldest child of Melvin Timblin and Viola Montgomery Timblin. Bruce is survived by his wife Dora Timblin, two children; Tracy Lerman of Phoenix, Arizona, Sean Timblin of Bonney Lake, Washington and 5 grandchildren. Also his brothers Mark Timblin of Sandpoint, Rex and Margie Timblin of Laclede, Idaho, Half-brother Stephen Timblin of Anchorage, Alaska, Damon and Eve Timblin of Metaline Falls, Washington, his half-sisters Jennifer and Larry Maupin of Ione, Washington, Bridget Timblin and step-mother Patricia Timblin both of Metaline Falls, Washington. He was preceded in death by both his parents, beloved sister Marcia Timblin Crabb of Sagle, Idaho, step-father Arie Poelstra and step-sister Pamela Richards.
Bruce attended a 2 room schoolhouse in Colburn, Idaho, then the Sandpoint Jr. High and graduated from Sandpoint Sr. High. In 1968 Bruce and his cousin Dennis Timblin joined the marines. He married Terry Olsen before leaving for Vietnam. After working as a truck driver in Sandpoint, he joined the navy and served on 4 different ships in the Pacific. He retired with the rank of Senior Chief in 1993. He moved to Sagle, Idaho and worked in logging with brother-in-law Bruce Crabb and later as a truck driver. He married Dora Kubischke in 2000 and moved to their present home near Oldtown, Idaho.
Friends and family of Bruce Timblin are welcome to attend a memorial service at the Sandpoint VFW on Wednesday March 20th, beginning at noon. Anyone who would like may bring a dish for the luncheon."

LESTER
Lester, 21, is also in Bonner County in 1940. He's 19, married to 24-year-old Ruby Jewel. They list Patricia M., 7, James S. 5, and Ronald L., 4. In 1935 Lester was in Morrill County, Nebraska, and the others were in Lincoln, Idaho.

In 1966 Lester L. Monk, nephew of John Woodcock, was living in Tenino, Washington. His daughters were Lila Ward of Rosenburg, Oregon and Edna L. Jorgensen of Oral, South Dakota.

February 1937 Yuma County "Mrs. C. [should be G.] Monk and granddaughter Edna Lois of Newark, Nebraska came Monday for an extended visit with Anna Monk and family. The girl enrolled in the Pleasant Valley School."
This is Edna Lois, who lived with Anna Monk and her three unmarried sons - Bert, Dale, and Bill.



1969 "CAROL JORGENSEN Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Jorgensen of Albany, Oregon, was graduated from Corvallis High School. She is a sophomore at Oregon College of Education, Monmouth, majoring in secondary education. "

In 1979 Mr. and Mrs. Newton Jorgenson of Illinois visited her four cousins in Yuma County.

In 1984 Edna Lois and her husband Newton Jorgenson were living in Albany, Oregon.

Newton Jess Jorgensen was born May 21, 1921, and died in Wasco County, Oregon, November 30, 2000.
Newton, a sergeant in the Air Corps in WWII, is buried in Oakville Cemetery, Shedd, Orgeon.
