In 1900 the James Murphy family is out in Holdredge, Nebraska (just a little west of where his niece Mary Sides MONK and her husband George Monk settled. James is a "hotel operator". This photo was taken about that time, and it matches very closely the 1900 census. Photograph shared by Les Monk and family.

Rubin Murphey born April 11 ??? Died ??? has the same hand-carved lettering as his parents. In 1910 he's in Yankee, Perkins County, Nebraska living with his sister Synda Silvranta and her family and works on the farm.
He moved around a lot - in the WWI registration he was Rubin Robert Murphy, born April 11, 1888 in Campbell, Nebraska, working as a traction engineer for F.M. Hall in Bridgeport.
Has to be the R.R. Murphey in 1920 boarding with the C.J. Kahl family in Grace, Perkins County Nebraska. He's born 1889 in Nebraska, and has his own barber shop.
In 1930 he's further west, in Briggsdale, Weld County Colorado, working as a hired man for the widowed Bertha T. Elliott.

SAM MURPHY - Photograph shared by Les Monk and family.

Samuel Jerry (probably Jeremiah) Murphy registered for the WWI draft in Grant, Nebraska - same county where his sister lived. He said he was born January 15, 1875, and was farming for George Westlake. He said his wife was Katie Murphy, and that his sight in one eye was nearly gone.
In 1930 Perkins County he's a hired hand for the Bryan McGahan family. Age 50 - bet the info was given by his employers - it has him listed last as a "husband" and "widowed."
