In 1900 Washington County, just over the county line, Minor A. Edman, born October 1893 in Illinois, is the only child of Jacob Edman, 49, a sheepherder, and Alevilda, 48.
Minor gave a recitation at a school program in Hyde - the settlement where they lived in 1900.
In 1906 Minor was neither tardy nor absent for a month of school in Yuma.
Alwieda was trying to get a mortgage paid in 1907 for land in Section 25, 2n 48 w - (very near the town of Yuma)
In 1909 Minor was attending school in Yuma.
Jacob's recorded in the Yuma Cemetery as a death in 1909
In 1910 Elvieda is widowed, has her own farm, and Minor is living with her in Eckley Colorado - twenty miles east of Hyde
In 1911 Minor passed the examination for eighth grade in Yuma County.
In May 1912 Alwieda Edman of Eckley made final proof
In October 1912 "Mr. Minor Edman and Miss Lyvern Long were the guests of honor at a dinner, given by the former's mother, at her home east of town (Yuma), last Sunday. The affair was given in honor of the birthday of Mr. Edman and Miss Long, and those present were Mr. George Haver and family, Mr. Tirrill Stallings and family, Miss Mae Brown, and Messrs. Roy Stark, Glade Adams, Clyde Murphy, Frank Brown and John Chase. All report a good time and lots of good things to eat, and departed wishing that birthdays could come oftener than once a year.
March 28, 1913 Pioneer "Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Minor Edman, December 8, a fine baby."
In 1913 Oliver Strawder bought ten head of nice shoats of Minor Edman.
In November 1913 the Edman home, west of Eckley, was the scene of a surprise party Sunday, it being Mrs. Edman's birthday. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Probasco of Indianola, Nebr; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Wuergler and son of Walsenburg; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hess, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Dreece, Mr. and Mr. Chester McCafferty and son, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Sullivan and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harley East and family, Mr. Louis Wuergler and mother, Misses Grace and Bertha Hess and Miss Edith Wuergler. A magnificent dinner was served and all who were present report a most enjoyable time.
In May 1914 County Clerk McKinney issued a marriage license to Minor Edman and Miss Sarah Gardner both of Eckley. Rev. Breckinridge performed the ceremony.
It was a busy month for him. He, along with Amos Brown, and Joseph Underdown were tried in Federal court for taking coal from the Burlington Railroad. Because of a strike in the northern and southern Colorado coal fields and a bitter November, "The dry famers used all of their supply of fuel and waited in vain for a promised car of coal. When it failed to arrive they grew desperate and carted away two-thirds of a car of coal consigned to Nebraska points."
Elmer and Carrie Gardner soon moved to Missouri, and probably that's why Sarah moved there a couple of years later.
The Gardners had been in Missouri in 1900, Dundy County Nebraska (right over the line from Yuma County) in 1910.
Jacob, Arwilda, and Minor are in the Yuma Cemetery, lot 71. I couldn't find a newspaper account of Arwilda's re-marriage (the 1922 atlas has her land under "Arwilda Best" and the tombstone has Jacob Edman June 15, 1871 - July 10, 1909
Arwilda Edman - Best November 9, 1852 - February 16, 1928.
LAKELAND - Nancy L. Taylor, 76, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 21,
2012 peacefully at home due to complications of a stroke. She was born in
