MILTON'S FAMILY

Milton's mother "Causby" E. Ball married James C. Emerine on February 22, 1871 in Caroroll County, Missouri.

In 1880 Carroll County, Missouri, Mahlon Vandergrift is 47, Mary Vandergrift 32, Herbert Vandergrift 16, Robert Vandergrift 13, Michel Vandergrift 12, Samuel Vandergrift 8, William Vandergrift 6, and Milton Vandergrift 6/12.

In 1900 Carroll County, Milton, born December 1880, is with widowed "Cosley E." Vandergrift born Sept 1848. Eddie C, October 1872, Thomas Sept 1885, and Allie Grooms, born Nov 1874, married but no spouse. Lawson born June 1896 and Mary August 1898, all born in Missouri.

James 1895-1972 is buried in Billings, Montana # 91787896.
"Married Bertha Hinzman August 30, 1934 in Billings, MT; married Margarete Heisig Feb. 27, 1953; was the owner and operator of the Wardrobe Cleaners from 1924; died in an auto accident"

GERTRUDE'S FAMILY

In 1900 Carroll County, James Sr. is farming, born Feb 1854 in Virgina, married 15 years to Mary July 1862 Indiana. Gertrude July 1886 and Harry July 1888 were born in Missouri, "Hue" Jan 1895 and Frank Oct 1896 in Nebraska.

March 1910 "Mrs. M. B. Vandergrift and brother, Harry Flick arrived Sunday from Norborne, Mo. At present they are the guests of Mrs. M. A. Scheible."

In 1910 "Harry" Flick is in Idalia precinct, a farm laborer, 21, working for Milton B. Vandegrift 30 and Gertrude 23. James R. Vandegrift is newborn.

MERTIN AND GERTRUDE

"Melton" and Gertrude married in Carroll County on March 17, 1909.

In 1910 Idalia precinct, Yuma County, Milton B. Vandergrift is 30, Gertrude 23, married one year, with James R. three months. Harry Flick is a hired man, 21, all four born in Missouri.

1910 "Miss Emerine, who has been visiting Milton Vandergrift and family for several weeks , returned to her home in Rorborne , Mo ., last week

September 1911 "Clara Scheible, M. Vandergrift and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Flick, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Chase took dinner at C. F. Soehner's Sunday."


"Born January 31st, 1912 to Mr. and Mrs. Milton Vandergrift, a boy."


October 1912 "Roy and Milton Vandergrift and Harry Flick took wheat to St. Francis Saturday.
Mrs. Harry Flick will leave Tuesday for Norborne, Missouri, where she will make a short visit."

" Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vandergrift have a baby boy born on February 21st, 1913. "

November 1913 "Milton Vandergrift and family were in town Friday. Mrs. Vandergrift’s father, from Missouri, is visiting her. He arrived last week. "

May 1914 "Melton Vandergrift and family, Harry Flick and family also Frank and Hugh Flick spent Sunday with A. S. Hall and family."

May 1914 "Frank Flick and Winnie Hall visited with Melton Vandergrift and family last Sunday. "
Milton Bocher Vandegrift registered for WWI in Armel, born December 3, 1879, renting a farm.

In 1920 Idalia precinct, with a census almost illegible, Milton B. Vandegrift is 40, Gertrude Vandegrift 34, James Vandegrift 10, Marim Vandegrift 8, Mabel Vandegrift 6, widowed Eveline Vandegrift 72, siser Eddie Amerine, 47, and John Vinsint 35.

In 1930 Carroll County, Milton is farming, 50, with Gertrude 43, James R. 20, all three born in Missouri. Marion B> 18, Mabel E. 16, and Glen O. 6 all three born in Colorado.
1928 "Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Vandergrift and family, attended a birthday dinner for Mrs. Lisa Conrad and George Conrad.

November 1937 "Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Vandergrift and daughter and son, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Vandergrift and baby motored from Kansas City, Mo., last Thursday evening and visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. U. Conrad over night. They called on old friends Friday and returned to their home at Grand Junction, Colo., Saturday.

In 1940 Carroll County, Milton is 60, Gertrude 53, Marion 28, and Glen 1oo6.

MARION

Marion B. Vandergrift, born January 31, 19912, died in Frswno County, California on January 25, 1967.
He's buried in Reeley, California # 92248192, with Mary Eulavee Gilbert Vandegrift 1910-1983.

JAMES

James Robert Vandegrift 1910-1969 is buried in Bogard, Missouri # 19327267, with Lucile Johnson Vandegrift 1912-2006.

MABLE

Mable Vandegrift Kneedler 1914-2008 is buried in Lebanon, Missouri # 73313765, with Elbert E. Kneedler 1912-1995.

GLENN

Glenn O. Vandegrift 1923-1975 is buried in Bogard # 34498703, with Ruby J. born June 1, 1927, dying July 9, 2015 # 149082342.
"Ruby June VanDegrift, age 88, of Carrollton, MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Carroll House.
Ruby was born June 1, 1927 in Carroll County, the daughter of Glen and Edith (Brotherton) Morehead. She graduated from Tina High School in 1945. On June 27, 1951, Ruby married Glenn VanDegrift. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Ruby was a housewife and also worked at Mattingly's Store, P.A.G. Corn Growers, and Banquet Foods. She was an active member of the Bogard Church of Christ and served for many years as a Sunday School teacher as well as Bible School leader. Ruby was known in the Bogard community for her love of gardening, growing beautiful iris and her passion for garage sales.
Even though Ruby had no children of her own, she was an important and cherished member of her brother's family. Her presence was a special part of each holiday, birthday, and special occasion and she will be greatly missed by many.
Ruby is survived by her brother, Bob Morehead of Carrollton, MO; her niece, Peggy Germann and husband Ronnie of Bogard, MO; her nephew, Robert "Bobby" Morehead of Marshall, MO; her great-nieces, Kelli Richardson and husband Scott of Columbia, MO, and Lori Grossman and husband Curt of Tina, MO; her great-great nephews, Connor Richardson of Columbia, MO, Zach and Trent Grossman of Tina, MO, and her great-great niece, Tavia Charlton of Carrollton, MO. She is also survived by several special cousins, members of her late husband's family and her Carroll House family.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, her very special sister-in-law, Claudine Morehead; and one great-nephew, Rob Morehead."
