ROY'S FAMILY

Roy's mother "Causby" E. Ball married James C. Emerine on February 22, 1871 in Caroroll County, Missouri.

In 1880 Carroll County, Missouri, Mahlon Vandergrift is 47, Mary Vandergrift 32, Herbert Vandergrift 16, Robert Vandergrift 13, Michel Vandergrift 12, Samuel Vandergrift 8, William Vandergrift 6, and Milton Vandergrift 6/12.

ROY AND OPAL

In 1910, Roy Vandegrift is in Denver, a shipping clerk, married three years to Opal born in Illinois, both 24, Vernon 2 and Verla 1 both born in Missouri
October 1913 "Mr. and Mrs DeRoy Vandergrift and little son, accompanied by Mrs. M. L. Stiverson, the mother of Mrs. Vandergrift, came to Wray Monday and stayed over until Tuesday, Mrs. Stiverson having left that evening for her home in Hardin, Missouri, after spending three weeks with her daughter and family in their home near Idalia."
(Winnie Ethel Stiverson, 34, married Harvey H. Sutton in Yuma County on June 9, 1918.)

December 1913 "Mrs. Letitia J. Ingraham relinquished her 320-acre homestead claim, 20 miles south of Yuma, to DeRoy Vandergrift, of Idalia, Colorado."

April 1915 "Little Verilla Vandergrift had the misfortune to fall while at play and crack the bone in her arm . We are glad to say she is getting along nicely at this writing . "

In 1920 Hale precinct, DeRoy is farming, 34, with Stiverson 33, Vernon 12, Verla 10, Alice 9, thomas 7, Deal 6, Earl 4,a nd Nora 1, the last five born in Colorado.

In 1930 Yuma County, Roy and Opal are 44, Ida A. 19, Thomas 17, Deal 15, Earl 13, Nora 11, Laura 9, Leona 6, Bessie 5, and Ruby 2.

In 1940, Deroy and Opal are in Pasadena, California, both 54, Laura 19, Leona 16, Bessie 15, Ruby 12, and Melvin 9.
August 1949 Mrs. Vernon Vandergrift and daughter Cathy of El Monte, Cal., visited at George Haskell’s on Monday. Mrs. Vandergrift is a sister of Mr. Haskell. September 1949 Mrs. Vernon Vandergrift, sister of Mrs. Oliver Renzelman and the Haskell brothers, and her three children left Tuesday morning for their home at El Monte, Calif. While here Mrs. Vandergrift had the misfortune to break two bones in her right foot when she was thrown from a horse. October 1951 Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Vandergrift and family of Baldwin Park, Calif., who had been on an extended trip to Washington and Yellowstone, visited relatives in this community from Tuesday until Thursday of last week

Leona Mae Van De Grift 1923-1968

Deal Van De Grift 1915–2013 is buried in King County, Washington # 180905759,
"A graveside inurnment service for the late Rev. Deal Van De Grift and the late Lois Anderson Van De Grift will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn, WA, on Wednesday, June 22 at 11 a.m. Deal and Lois were pastors to seven Church of the Nazarene congregations before Deal joined the staff of Walla Walla High School as a U.S history teacher and counselor. Survived by two children."

Melvin, born June 19, 1930, married Marlene J. Morris, 17, on October 28, 1949 in Los Angeles.
They divorced in Los Angles in 1967.
Melvin died December 5, 2011.

Leona Mae VanDegift, 18, married Leo J. Bonham in Yuma Arizona on May 25, 1941.

Leo J. Bonham and Ruby M. VanDeGrift married on April 11, 1947 in California....

Leona M. Gray married William K. Demaray on January 25, 1950 in Vancouver, Washington.

Leona M. Demaray, born May 18, 1923 in Colorado, died July 13, 1968 in Los Angeles County.

Earl M Vandegrift 1916–1970 is buried in Whittier, California # 145995540.

Nora G. VanDeGrift Trepp 1918–2012 is also buried in Whittier # 88859401, with Donald V. Trepp 1918-2005. Donald Vern Trepp 1918-2005 married 9 June 1947 in Los Angeles Co., California, Nora Gertrude Van De Grift.

Ruby Marie Vandegrift Bonham 1927–1982 is buried in Covina, California # 94383353.

Bessie Lee Van DeGrift, born January 7, 1925, was named Lytle in 1943, McCune in 1948, married Leo J. Bowen, 29 on May 22, 1952 in Los Angeles, married Frank E. Gilmore in 1972 in Los Angeles, and died as Long on April 16, 2006.
She's likely the Lee Long buried in Covina, California # 121546505.
