Charles D. and Anetta (Pratt) Pickett, brother Frank W. Pickett, Wray
Nellie Pratt was in Green County, Wisconsin in 1880, 16, with Catherine 53. ALfred is 22, James 20, Casinda 18, and Dave 14.
Her father Oliver 1803-1867 is buried in Monticello # 98656238.
Marion was born January 15, 1883 in Sylvester, Green County, Wisconsin to
Charles D. Pickett
and Nellie Pratt.
Charles D. Pickett arrived in Yuma County in September 1886, his wife June 5, 1887.
Charles cash-claimed a quarter in section 2,
3 North 44 West, in 1892, next to in-law Eli Steninger in 1891.
Charles also cash-claimed forty acres in 4, 1N 44W a couple of miles west of Wray, in 1911.
In 1900 Wray, Charles has no occupation, born February 1859 in Minnesota, married 17 years to Ella M. Dec 1863 Wisconsin. She's had four kids, one living.
Marion D. was born January 1883 in Wisconsin, Pearl E. October 1888 and Merle J. March 1895 in COlorado.
December 27, 1907 "Mrs. C. D. Pickett received word this week of an
accident which befell a brother of hers, Dave Pratt, of Monticello, Wisconsin,
in which he received a broken leg as well aa getting it pretty badly
lacerated in a corn-shredder."
April 24, 1908 "Mrs. C. D. Pickett received a telegram Wednesday stating that her
mother, Mrs. Catherine Pratt, had just died at York, Nebraska.
Mrs. Pickett and Mrs. Steninger, who is also a daughter of the deceased, left
that night for York to be present at the funeral. The burial will be made at
Monticello, Wisconsin, Mrs. Pratt's old home, and the two daughters may
accompany the remains to that place. The news was quite a shock, as no word had been
received in regard to her even being ill."
May 8, 1908 Wray, Colorado "Mrs. C. D. Pickett and Mrs. Staininger returned
Tuesday from Monticello, Wisconsin, where they attended the funeral of their mother,
Mrs. Catherine Pratt, who died about two weeks ago at York, Nebraska."

August 8, 1912 "Mrs. John L. Brayton and daughter, Miss Oral, arrived Sunday
from California for a visit with Mrs. Brayton's sisters, Mesdames C. D.
Pickett and Eli Staininger, and families here. They are enroute from the
coast to their home in Waucoma, Iowa."

July 1918 "C. D. Pickett returned last evening
from a business trip to Denver, Greeley and Cornish.
He reports Mr. Gartrell, formerly of Wray, but now
in the lumber business at Cornish, as building up a
fine trade."
October 1923 "The C. D. Pickett sale was postponed on
account of stormy weather. The sale will be held Saturday,
Oct. 6th beginning at 1 p. m., at the Pickett barn in
west Wray. Some good livestock will he offered for sale
at this time."
Nellie 1864-1936 is buried in Wray # 62630347 "Nell Pickett (Mrs. C.D.) came to Yuma
County in June of 1887 and lived on a homestead north of Wray where their big corral
was the first one between Wray and Holyoke. They had three children, Marion
who was born before they left Wisconsin, and Pearl and Merle who were born
in Colorado. Pearl was born on the homestead and Merle after they moved to Wray.
She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Rebekahs, and the Presbyterian Church.
She and her daughters also ran the store and post office when it was in the
Pickett building on the corner of Chief and Kiowa Streets (now Main and 3rd)
for thirteen years. She was an accomplished seamstress and drove her own horse
and buggy to help neighbors in time of sickness or trouble. She was truly a
pioneer woman."
PEARL
Pearl E Broderick of Denver, formerly of Wray, Colorado, passed away at her home Dec. 20, 1984 at the age of 96 years. Mrs. Broderick was one of the pioneers of Wray.
She was born on the family homestead located one and one-fourth miles north of Wray. The family came from Wisconsin in the early 1880's to make their future in this new and growing area, encouraged to establish a home by the tree claim offers of the era. Pearl wa the second child of Charles DeWitt and Nellie May Pratt Pickett.
She spent her early years in Wray, helping the family in all their many business activites, namely operating the Wray Post Office, a Grocery store and a restaurant. She was active in many social activites of the community of that early eara.
June 19,1907 marked the wedding date of Pearl Pickett to Edward M. Broderick at the Presbyterian Church. Her father owned the Wray Light and Power Plant and arranged to have a special line strung to the church. The first electric lights in the town of Wray were at this beautiful wedding.
While in Wray, Pearl held many offices in the Royal Neighbor Lodge and sponsored their Juvenile Group of Rebekah Lodge and served actively in the affairs of the Presbyterian Church and on the board of the newly established Community Hospital.
Mrs. Broderick was preceded in Death by her husband, Edward, her brother Marion Pickett and her sister, Merle Groves, all of whome3 are buried in Wray and also by her elder daughter Franka Merz.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Nelle Ryan, two grandson, Michael Ryan and John Edward Merz and threee great granddaughters, all of whom live in the Denver area.
Funeral services for Pearl were held Wednesday December 16, 1984 at the Wray Presbyterain Chruch with Rev. Jack Bunckley officiating. Interment was made in Grandview Cemetery.

Merle PickettGroves, born March 16, 1896 in Wray, died February 1980,.
She's buried in Wray # 62893872. So is Thomas Frances Barr Groves 1896-1961 # 62893919 - which has Thomas' spouse as Eva 1897-1977 # 62893845.
Henan C. Pickett cash-claimed 160 acres in section 4, 1N 44W in 1892.
FRANK
POSSIBLE In 1870 Wabasha County, Minnesota, Frank is 9, Eli 4, both born in Minnesota, with Benjamin 42 and Susan 29.
Frank W. Pickett and Addie Gilmore married in Argyle, Wisconsin on September 20, 1882, per one tree.
She was the daughter of Bruce Gilmore 1832-1896 and
Susanna Johns 1835-1900. Her brother Richard John Gilmore was born near Janesville, Wisconsin February 25, 1857 to Brice and Susanna.
In 1880 Lafayette County, Wisconsin, Brice is 51, born in Pennsylvania, Susannah 45 Ohio. Mary E. 20, Adeline 18, Arthur S. 15, Lilly 12, Rosa Belle 11, and Hattie 7 ere all born in Wisconsin.
Brice 1829-1896 is buried in Green County # 131677389. So is Susannah 1835-1900 # 131677483.
In 1880 Lafayette County, Wisconsin, Daniel Pickett is 56, and Electa Pickett 54 had Helen 21, married to Rickard J. Gilmore 23.
In 1900 Lafayette County, Wisconsin, Frank W. Pickett is a carpenter, born March 1861 in Minnesota, married 17 years to Addie Sept 1861 Pennsylvania.
December 27, 1907 "Frank Pickett arrived here Monday with a car of
immigrant goods from Monroe, Wisconsin. He has rented the James Grigsby house in West
Wray, where he and family will reside. Clarence Gilmore, a nephew, accompanied him here
and will probably make this his home. Mr. Pickett at one time resided here and is
no stranger to Colorado."
In 1908 Frank owned a violin captured in 1861 by the 5th Wisconsin Battery, presented to Frank Sisson, who sold it to William Pickett, a nephew of Frank and Charley Pickett of Wray, and Frank received it through the death of William Pickett.
September 1909 "Mrs. Richard Gilmore arrived from Darlington, Wisconsin,
Wednesday to visit her brother, Frank Pickett and wife."
Frank is a real estate agent in 1910 Wray, 49, with Addie 48.
1911 "Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Pickett left yesterday for Monroe, Wisconsin, where they will visit relatives for a few weeks."
July 1911 "R. J. Gilmore of Happyville, was in the city the
first of the week visiting his sister, Mrs. F. W. Pickett, and looking after business."
July 1916 "Mr. and Mrs. Alva Downs came in Friday morning and remained
until this morning as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pickett of West Wray.
Mr. and Mrs. Downs are from Monroe, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Downs is a
sister of Mrs. Pickett."
September 1916 "Mrs. Fred Olson, sister of Mrs. Frank Pickett of this place
and of R. J. Gilmore of Happyville, and Mrs. Bert Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Gilmore, who had been visiting at Wray and Happyville the previous two weeks,
left Tuesday evening for their homes in Wisconsin."
1917 "Frank Pickett and wife left last Monday evening for their old
home in Wisconsin, where they will visit for a few weeks."
April 1919 "Frank Pickett, who had been in Denver for some time acting as
one of the clerks in the state senate, returned last week to Wray and is now
found in his usual place in his real estate office."
In 1930 Wray, Frank is a solicitor, 69, Addie G. 68 born in Pennsylvania.
Frank 1861-1936 is buried in Wray # 62630315, with Addie 1862-1939 # 62630260.

The 1922 directory has "Pickett, H J, Farmer, PO Wray, 1911, Born Missouri 1881, married Maude
Wisdom, three children."
