Earl and Mabel (Wakefield) and Gretchen (Jordan) Stimson  Vernon

Mabel Wakefield proved up a quarter in section 35, 2S 45W in 1908.


Earl Stimson married Mamie Wakefield on November 24, 1903.
Hale Dewert Young married Emily G. Stimson in Colorado in 1903.

April 1911 "Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stimson of the north part of the county came down in their Overland last Saturday and spent the night with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Stevens."

November 1911 "O. E. Stimson has sold his ranch north of Wray and has moved to Vernon. He is thinking of starting in business here but has not decided what it will be."

In 1912 Earl Stimson was a candidate for constable in Vernon precinct.

November 1914 " Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stimson of Wray were Saturday night visitors in Vernon."

August 1915 "Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stimson were down from Yuma Monday. Mr. Stimson has charge of the Conrad garage at Yuma."

"Baxter Rarie, demonstrator of the Grant motor cars in Colorado and Wyoming, has been in Yurna County for the past two weeks in the interest of his company and expects to remain a few weeks longer dividing his time between Yuma, Wray and Idalia. O. E. Stimson is the local agent, and may be found at the new brick garage."
December 1916 "Arch Wakefield and family and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stimson ate Christmas dinner with their father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wakefield of Vernon."

Mabel B. (Wakefield) Stimson 1881-1929 # 47705489 is buried in Vernon.

March 14, 1929

April 7, 1911 Yuma "Mr. and Mrs. Jordan planned a surprise on their daughter, Miss Gretchen, last Thursday evening the occasion being her birthday when about fifty of her friends made their appearance about eight o'clock for her to entertain. A nice lunch was served. The guests spending a very enjoyable evening with games and music returned to their homes wishing Miss Gretchen many more such happy birthdays."

September 1911 Sunny Slope items in the Pioneer "Miss Gretchen Jordan will commence her school in Washington county next Monday."

December 1911 "E. W. Jordan of south of Eckley and his daughter, Miss Gretchen, who teaches north of Wray were county seat visitors Friday and passengers to Eckley on the noon train."

February 1912 Wray "E. W. Jordan came down from Eckley and visited his wife and daughter who are living northeast of town where the daughter, Miss Gretchen, is teaching. Mr. Jordan is building a store building in Eckley and intends putting in a general merchandise stock."

Gretchen Jordan, 22, and Ray Heaston, 34, both of Wray, married there on December 31, 1913.

Roy Heaston is a truck driver for the chicken hatchery in 1930 Wray, 51, living with brother Kenneth B. Heasten 49 and Grace E. 39 and their daughter Gladys B. 13.

June 19, 1930

In 1940 Earl is a mechanic in Wray, 40, with mother Nellie M. 70, both widowed.
He's also listed on the census with Gretchen C. 40, a school teacher, born in Nebraska, and her mother Eva N. Jordan 69, born in Arkansas.

Gretchen K. Stimson 1891-1952 is buried in Eckley # 53151335.
