ELEAZAR'S FAMILY

In 1870 Appanoose County, Iowa, Israel Jordan is farming with Frances, both 46 born in Ohio. Samuel is 18, Citinia A. 17, both born in Oho. Maynard A. is 15, born in Iowa, Israel E. 13, William H. 9, and "Aleazar" W. 6 all three born in Ohio.??

Frances Jordan, 56, born in Ohio, died in December 1879 in Appanoose County.

In 1880 Doniphan County, Kansas, Eleazar W. Jordan is 15, with Israel W. Jordan 55, and Jane 55. Jane's daughter Sarah Brady 19 born in Kansas is with them.
Israel's first wife was Nancy Fox.
Jane Steward was born July 1825 in Ohio
In 1900 Appanoose County, Israel and Jane are both 76, with Israel E. 43 and his family.
Israel Jordan, 79, died March 23, 1902 in Taylor, Appanoose County, Iowa, to be buried in Moravia.

E.W., 20, born in Appanoose County, Iowa to Israel Jordan and Nancy Fox, married Nancy Jane Howard in Appanoose County, Iowa on March 13, 1884. She was 18, born in Illinois to Wm. Howard and mother McLaughlin, , and she died there 1866-1885 # 55277945.

EVA'S FAMILY

Eva was in Brown County, Kansas in 1885, age 12, with J.F. Garrett 24, Martha J. 48 widowed born in Kentucky, and Wesly S. 10.

In 1870 Barry County, Missouri, H. S. Garrett is a shoemaker, 39, Martha 34, both born in Kentucky. Robert is 14 born in Indiana, Jesse 10 in Missouri and Hansford 1 in Indiana.

One tree said Henry Thompson Garrett died about 1874 in Berryville, Carroll County, Arkansas.

(Martha J. is widowed in 1900 Yakima County, Washington, born Nov 1835 in Kentucky, with Harry R. June 1856 Indiana, and Jesse F. Nov 1860 in Missouri.)

Jesse Franklin Garrett, 1860-1954 is buried in Yakima, Washington # 66693818.

Harry Robert Garrett 1856-1945 is buried in Yakima, # 100771680, with Viola R. 1870-1907.

ELEAZAR AND EVA

E.W. Jordan, 23, married Eva N. Garrett, 16, on Sept 1, 1887 in Brown County, Kansas.
Both were residents of Richardson County, Nebraska.

In 1895 "Elzse" W. 30 born in Ohio and Eva W. 29 born in Arkansas are in Appanoose County, Iowa, with Wiliam I. 10 and Gretchen K. 4 both born in Nebraska.

April 7, 1911 Yuma "Mr. and Mrs. Jordan planned a surprise on their daughter, Miss Gretchen, last Thursday evening the occasion being her birthday when about fifty of her friends made their appearance about eight o'clock for her to entertain. A nice lunch was served. The guests spending a very enjoyable evening with games and music returned to their homes wishing Miss Gretchen many more such happy birthdays."

September 1911 Sunny Slope items in the Pioneer "Miss Gretchen Jordan will commence her school in Washington county next Monday."

December 1911 "E. W. Jordan of south of Eckley and his daughter, Miss Gretchen, who teaches north of Wray were county seat visitors Friday and passengers to Eckley on the noon train."

February 1912 Wray "E. W. Jordan came down from Eckley and visited his wife and daughter who are living northeast of town where the daughter, Miss Gretchen, is teaching. Mr. Jordan is building a store building in Eckley and intends putting in a general merchandise stock."

Gretchen Jordan, 22, and Ray Heaston, 34, both of Wray, married there on December 31, 1913.

Nellie Sanford was in Hill City, Kansas in 1900, born June 1888 in Kansas, with Jerome and Mary Sanford.
Jerome 1858-1907 is buried in Hill City # 48044991, and Mary Alice Sanford 1860-1937 # 48044992.

May 1912 "Will Jordan of Wray is building a house on his land in the hills. "

William I. Jordan of Eckley announced a claim for two quarters in 15 and 22, 1N 46W, witnesses Perry Wall, Frank Gilbert, Grover Alder, and Charles Catchpole, all of Eckley oin December 1913.

"Thelma Bernice Tompkins, 85, of Colorado Springs died there Monday, Oct. 20.
She was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Denver to William Israel and Nellie (Sanford) Jordan and grew up in the Fort Morgan-Brush area.
In August 1938, she married Burton Clyde Tompkins in Denver. They made their home in Snyder in 1947.
A housewife and mother, Mrs. Tompkins also worked as a chemist with the Great Western Sugar Co. After the death of her husband in 1969, she moved to Northglenn and embarked on a career as a social services counselor in Denver. Upon retirement, she moved to Greeley. Her final years were spent at Brighton Gardens of Colorado Springs.
Survivors are her son, William Tompkins and wife Cynthia, and Bill's uncle and aunt, Wesley and Dee Tompkins of Denver."


"William B. Tompkins, age 69, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1997, passed away February 6, 2009 after a heroic battle with cancer. He was the Business Development Officer for Duty Free Shoppers and later, an independent consultant for similar businesses. William was born October 24, 1939 in Brush, Colorado to Burton and Thelma (Jordan) Tompkins. He was raised in Snyder, Colorado, and then moved to Boulder, Colorado where he attended The University of Colorado earning a B.A. in Business in 1961. Bill then served in the United States Marine Corp for three and a half years and was a Viet Nam veteran earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Pursuant to Bill's career he lived in New York City, Chicago, Lakewood, Colorado, Hong Kong, Guam, and Torrance, CA. During his time in Torrance, Bill received a Masters in Accounting from the University of Southern California in 1994. On October 10, 1998 he married Cynthia Nicholos in Las Vegas, Nevada and she survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Carol Tompkins, and first wife Judy Thompson. He enjoyed photography, travel, his friends and family, and adding wisdom, kindness, and humor to the world. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel in Colorado Springs, CO. Inurnment will be private. A reception for guests, for which location and map will be provided by the funeral home, will follow the memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tompkins Memorial Fund at The Bank at Broadmoor in Colorado Springs for wildlife care, planting trees, shrubs and flowers in Bill's name, to add an enduring beauty to the world. "
