"It is our sad duty to announce the death of Mrs. Maggie Coy,
wife of W. L. Coy, which occurred at her home in East Council Grove, Kansas,
on Saturday, February 4, 1888. Mrs. Coy had been sick but a short time with
typhoid fever. She sank rapidly from the first, and fell an easy victim to
the fell destroyer. Dr. Z. T. Harvey was the attending physician,
and did every thing that medical skill could suggest to arrest the progress
of the disease, but without avail.
Mrs. Coy was the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Robinson, who reside in Elm Creek township.
She was born in Virginia, and came to this state with her parents in 1882.
In 1884 she married Mr. Coy, and has lived for the past two years in this city.
She leaves, besides husband, parents, brothers and sisters to mourn her loss,
a son but two and a half years old.
Her brief sickness and death at the early age of 19 years and 6 days fills the
hearts of all who knew her with inexplicable sadness, but yielding to a higher
will they say with heavy hearts and bowed heads, 'Thy will be done.'
May those who loved her so tenderly on earth be prepared to meet her on the
farther shore.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. church in this city at
1:30 P. M. on Sunday, the funeral sermon being preached by Mrs. Rodgers,
the evangelist. The interment was made in the Friends' burial ground,
on Four Mile, the same afternoon. The bereaved friends have the sympathy
of all in their sore affliction."
