LEE

In 1900 Furnas County, Nebraska, Lee Thompson is farming, born March 1864 in Illinois, married 5 years to Serepta September 1873 in Kentucky. They have Ethel E. born July 1899. in Nebraska.

August 1913 Wray "Lee Thompson and wife and daughter, Ethel, arrived Monday of last week from Wilsonville, Nebraska, for a three weeks' visit in the Jacob Thompson home on the Belzer place east of Vernon. "

June 1916 "Lee Thompson and family left on Tuesday for Wilsonville, Nebraska, where Mr. Thompson has a farm and a wheat crop to harvest. They will return after harvest and will probably locate here permanently. "

In 1920 Wray, Leander is farming, 53, born in Illinois, with Serepta M. 47 Kentucky. Tthel A. 20 was born in Nebraska.

August 1929 "A delightful picnic was held Sunday at Reed's grove west of town in honor of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Kern of Wilsonville, Nebraska. Mrs. Kern is a sister of Mrs. Jacob Thompson. Reed's grove is an ideal picnic ground and there were over fifty persons who enjoyed this picnic. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Thompson and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Kern and family of Wilsonville, Nebr., Ernest Thompson of Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Ward and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ward and little daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Reed and family, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Blake, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hoppin, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lechner and family of Wilsonville, Nebr., Mrs. Ray Paris and children of Denver, Mrs. Mary Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Reed, Bill Toner's children, Charlie Stephens and children, Mrs. Martinsdale of Iowa, Jim Blake and Mr. Allen Kieth."

November 1, 1934 "Mrs. Lee Thompson returned Tuesday of last week from Wilsonville, Neb., where she was called recently by the serious illness of her mother. Mrs. Thompson’s trip was doubly a sad one, for her mother passed away on Oct. 11, at the age of 76 years and her father, W. W. Gilpin, heart broken by the loss of his wife passed away on October 19 at the age of 77 years. Friends of Mrs. Thompson in this community will extend their sympathy to her in this sad bereavement."

1935 "Mr. and Mrs. George Gilpin of Denver visited over night with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Thompson. Mr. Gilpin is employed in the Denver mint. They had been east on a three week's vacation, and they reported that things looked better here than east of here. Mr. Gilpin is a brother of Mrs. Thompson. "

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Thompson were host and hostess at a lovely turkey dinner on Christmas day, 1937 for Mr. and Mrs. Ray Paris and children, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Coy, of Yuma, and Mr. and Mrs. George Gilpin, of Denver. The grandchildren declared there is no place finer to spend Christmas than on Grandpa’s farm."

1938 "Mr. and Mrs. Lee Thompson returned from Denver last Friday evening where they had been visiting for a few days at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Ray Paris, and family and a brother of Mrs. Thompson's, George Gilpin."

Lee and Sarepta are living on West 7th Street in Wray in 1940, no occupation.

" Death Monday, June 3, 1946 claimed Lee Thompson, citizen of this community for thirty years and who had won the respect and affection of his friends and neighbors by his kindliness, fine character and capacity for friendship. He was 82 years, two months and 22 days old at the time of his death.
Funeral services for Mr. Thompson were held at the Christian church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, with Rev. Joe Kearns officiating. Arrangements were in charge of the Lockwood Mortuary. After the service here, the body was taken to Wilsonville, Nebraska, for interment. He will rest in the family burial plot there beside his mother and father.
Mr. Thompson was born in Illinois on March 11, 1864, the son of Thomas and Margaret Thompson. When he was three years old, the family left Illinois and moved to lowa. The family moved west, to St. Francis, Kansas, during Mr. Thompson's young manhood and later they moved to Wilsonville, Nebraska.
At Wilsonville, Mr. Thompson met and married Sarepta Mary Gilpin. To them was born one daughter, Ethel, who is now Mrs. Ray Paris, of Denver.
The Thompsons moved to Wray in 1916 to a farm southwest of town. They resided there until five years ago when they moved into town.
Mr. Thompson was a faithful Christian during his life. He was an elder in the Wilsonville Christian church at the time it was organized, and also was an elder in the Wray Christian church where he served well and faithfully until his declining years.
He is survived by his widow and daughter, one granddaughter, Mrs. Gerald Frase, one grandson, Jimmie Paris, a tiny great grandson, Jimmie Frase, all of Englewood, and one brother, Jacob Thompson of Wray. Besides these there are nieces, nephews and a host of friends who mourn his passing."

Ethel A. Thompson was born July 19, 1899 at Wilsonville, Nebraska to Lee A. Thompson and Sarepta M. Gilpin.

JACOB

Jacob Thompson, son of Thomas and Margaret Thompson, married Bena V. trowbridge on Feb 19, 1893 in Fairbury, Nebraska.
Bena was 17, daughter of A.E. and Almena Trowbridge.

She was in Antelope County, Nebraska in 1885, 10, with Adelbert 39 and Almeda I. Trowbridge 37.
John F. is 18, Marian 16, Araminta 13, Bina 10, William 7, and Alice 4.

Minnie May (Trowbridge) Bradeen 1865-1898 is buried in Edmonton, Alberta # 125230853, with Oliver Fremont Brdeen 1855-1899.

Goldie Adelaide (Trowbridge) Kern 1885-1962 is buried in Wilsonville # 157139116, with Edgar G. Kern 1876-1966

John Francis Trowbridge 1867-1942 is buried in Seattle # 110518756.

In 1900 Furnas County, Nebraska, Ja.. Thompson is farming, born April 1867 in Iowa, married seven years to Bina orn Dec 1875 in Wisconisn. Millie December 1893 was born in Kanss, Roy Dec 1895 in Nebraska.

In 1910 Furnas County, Jacob is 43, BIna 36, Millie 16, and Roy 14.

In 1930 Wray, Jason Thompson is 63, Bina 54, and sister Mary Jones 78.

May 1948 "Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thompson and granddaughter, Loma Kohlman, drove to McCook on Sunday to spend the day at the Charles Huff home. They were accompanied by Mr. Thompson's mother, Mrs. Jacob Thompson, and her sister, Mrs. Alice Odell, who planned to continue to Cambridge, Nebraska, to visit at the home of Thompson's daughter, Mrs. Henry ten Densel, and to Wilsonville, Nebraska, where they will visit a third sister, Mrs. Ed Kern. Upon their return Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Odell will make their home in the Orril Cuney property which was purchased by Mrs. Thompson a few months ago. "

"Jacob Thompson, widely known stockman, truck operator and former farmer and banker of Vernon and Wray, succumbed Sunday at his home in Wray after a two weeks' illness. He was born in lowa on April 7, 1867, and was 80 years, 7 months and 2 days old at the time of his death. In spite of his advanced age, Mr. Thompson had continued an active participation in his stock buying and trucking activities until his final illness.
Mr. Thompson was married on February 19, 1893, to Bina Viola Trowbridge at Falrbury, Nebraska. The couple have two children, Millie ten Bensel of Cambridge, Neb., and Roy Thompson of Wray.
They resided at St. Francis, Kansas, for a year and a half, then moved to Diller, Mo., then to Furnas County, Neb., where they lived for fifteen years.
In 1913, the family moved to Yuma county, residing on a farm near Vernon for seven years, and then moved to Wray. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his father and mother, four brothers, John and Will of lowa, George of Champion, Neb., and Lee of Wray, and by two sisters, Sarah of Iowa and Mary of Wray. Surviving him are his widow Bina, his son and daughter; twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many less near relatives. Mr. Thompson was well known and well liked in the community. All who knew him found him to be always of great kindness and a constant friend tn time of trouble or need. He was a devoted husband and father. Funeral services were held at the Lockwood Mortuary Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. E. Kinsell. Interment was at Glendale cemetery at Vernon. His six grandsons were his pallbearers."

Thomas Leroy Thompson, 24, married Berta May Ward on June 9, 1920 in Yuma County.

" Mary Viola Thompson was born on Dec. 12, 1921 at Vernon, Colo., and died on April 22, 1941 at the age of nineteen years, four months and ten days. Her earlier days of school she attended the grades at Vernon and graduated in. 1939 from the Wray High School. After graduation she was employed as a practical nurse at the Wray hospital, later going to Denver where sh e was employed before her death at the St. Luke’s hospital. She was a member of the Wray R. N. A. lodge. Mary Viola is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thompson of Wray, a sister, Mrs. Loren Kohlman, two brothers, Ted and Ned, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Thompson and Mrs. D. B. Ward. Also a host of friends, both young and old and many relatives. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Hitchcock Funeral Home where hundreds of friends paid their last respects to Mary Viola. Services were in charge of Rev. Wm. Brown of the Wray Methodist church and burial was made at the Vernon Cemetery."

MARY
"Mrs. Mary Jones closed her eyes in death at the home of her brother Lee Thompson at 8:00 a. m. on August 26, 1935, Monday morning of this week, which was her 84th birthday. Mary Thompson was the oldest of a family of seven children. Her only sister and two of her brothers had preceded her in death. Three brothers remain to mourn her passing; they are George Thompson of Champion, Nebraska and Leander and Jacob both of Wray, Colo.,
Mary Thompson was born in Ohio in August 26, 1851; she later removed with the rest of the family to Kansas and then to Wilsonville, Nebraska. Her married life was spent in that place. Her husband died in the fall of 1927. Soon afterwards she came to Wray, Colorado where she has continued to make her home with her brothers. For several years Mrs. Jones has been in feeble health but was able to be about until within the past three weeks. During most of her final illness she suffered intensely. Her death was a release. In early life Mrs. Jones accepted Jesus as Savior and Master and united with the Methodist Church in which she has continued her relationship. In recent years she has been attending the Christian Church and the sessions of the Loyal Ladies Class of which she was a member. She attended class and morning worship on July 28th.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Clark Bower at the Hitchcock Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The burial was in Glendale cemetery."
