January 1905 "R. G. Poplin, a thrifty ranchman of Mt. Wilson mesa, was transacting business in the city for a few hours this afternoon. He says there is about two feet of snow on the mesa. "

April 25, 1906 Telluride "Rev. W. C. Cronk went down to Wilson station this morning, and from there went by wagon up on the mesa to officiate at the funeral of 'Dad' Poplin, a well known rancher."

"Mrs. J. G. Poplin, wife of the well known Mt. Wilson ranchman, died at her home on the mesa last Sunday. She was over 70 years of age, and mother of a large family of grown sons and daughters.
The funeral was held Tuesday on the mesa, Rev. W. C. Cronk of this place conducting the service."

April 1907 "Pope Blackwell was up from Newmire yesterday as a witness in the case of Harry Liborman vs. R. G. Poplin, which was before Justice M. L. Rrown. The former is suinp Mr. Poplin for possession of his ranch."

September 1914 "Robert G. Poplin returned to Yuma county from Missouri a short time ago, and has located near Vernon. Mr. Poplin was a pioneer homesteader in this county, leaving here some years ago, but has returned to again make Yuma county his home. He is the father of Mrs. James Stevens of Vernon, and has located near his daughter's home."

West Vernon items " Mr. and Mrs. Poplin, parents of Mrs. J. W. Stevens, who have been here visiting some time from Iowa, have located on the Orton Weaver place and will remain indefinitely."

At the age of eight, she moved with her family to a homestead on Third Park near Telluride. She attended Third Park School. She and Robert Lee were married in 1918 at Nucla. Mr. Lee died in 1946.
