Nels and Jennie Alm , Wilson Mesa



December 1893 Marble, Gunnison County "Jim Brown and Nels Alm returned last evening from a three weeks’ sojourn over on the Muddy."

Nels A. Alm, of San Miguel County, was naturalized in county court in Telluride on November 1, 1901, witnesses Charles Peterson and Walter C. Martin.

In 1900 San Miguel County, Nels A. Alm is farming, 44, born in Sweden, immigrating 1883, Jennie Alm 40, born in Scotland, immigrating 1870, Wife.

In November 1905, Nels A. Alm proved up a quarter in section 2, 42N 10W of the New Mexico PM, at the Montrose land office.
1908 Telluride



She is buried next to Mrs. Poplin.

January 28, 1909 "A few days ago, Nels Alm and Mrs. Josephine Wise, both of Telluride, were married at Thompson, Utah. The eouple returned to this place Tuesday evening and this morning they went out to Mt. Wilson mesa, where Mr. Aim owns a well improved ranch, and where they will make their home."

Josephine Wise Age: 43, and Nels Alm married on 16 Jan 1909 in Grand County, Utah. Her son Albert's death certificate said her maiden name was Hunn.
She might be in Douglas County, Colorado in 1885, Frank Vise 39, Josephine Vise 19 Wife, and Gilbert B. James 25 Day Laborer.


In 1910 San Miguel County, Nels A. "Almo" is 54, Josephina Almo 44 Wife, born in Germany, Frank Wise 18 Step Son, born in New Mexico, a clerk in a grocery store, and Albert Wise 8 Step Son born in Colorado.

Josephine and Frank Wise were in Montrose County in 1900, David Wise 55, Josepine Wise 33 Wife, and Frank Wise 8 Son.

August 1901 " Born July 28th, to Mr. and Mrs. David Wise, a son. This, like Abraham of old, might be called the son of their old age. David, we congratulate you and hope that in your declining years you will have a son tc bless and care for you and his mother."

February 8, 1907 Montrose "It was reported this week that W. A. Thomas and Mrs. Josephine Wise were married in Salt Lake Monday. ."
(This might be a different one than David's wife...)

David and Josephine Wise divorced 14 Jan 1909 in San Miguel County, Colorado.

In 1920 David is in the Monte Vista, Colorado Soldiers and Sailor's Home, 72, born in Kentucky.

October 1912

April 3, 1915 "Nels Alms, of Wilson Mesa, one of the prosperous ranchers of that district, brought his wife in from the ranch Thursday and placed her under the care of a physician. For months she has been afflicted with gall stones, the pain from which is unbearable. Later she may have to be operated upon in order to effect a cure. While in the city, she will be cared for at the home of Frank Wise, her son."

April 1915

October 18, 1919 Telluride " Died in Telluride Thursday at 10:20 a. m. October 16, 1919, Mrs. Josephine Alm, aged twenty days over fifty four years, from a blood clot on the heart, after an illness of considerable time, which gradually grew worse. When the last illness started Mr. and Mrs. Alm were at Timber Spur, on the south side of Lizard Head divide, at a timber camp. Sunday, Mrs. Aim was feeling so bad that Nels brought her over and she was taken to the hospital for treatment, when the complication arose which resulted in her death.
She has two boys by a former husband, whose names are Albert and Frank Wise. Albert is here and is trying to locate his brother, whom he thinks is in California. If Frank is located, and can be here for the funeral, the body will be held at the rooms of the San Juan Furniture & Undertaking company until he gets here, but if he cannot be located, the funeral will be held Sunday afternoon. Since writing the above, a wire came from Frank Wise at Fresno, which states he cannot come here to the funeral, so arrangements will be made accordingly later. No minister being here, it is figured the funeral will be put off until perhaps Tuesday of next week."

In 1920 Telluride, Nels is widowed, no occupation, living alone. He said he was naturalized in 1897.

Nels Alm, 61, married Fannie Bailey in Grand Junction on Spetember 6, 1920.
Fannie was 55.
"Nels Alm has returned to Telluride from Grand Junction, bringing with him his bride, formerly Fannie Bailey of the Plateau section, and is receiving the congratulations of his friends. The marriage took place on Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock in the office of Justice G. W. Armstrong of Grand Junction, the justice officiating.
The bride had been a resident of Grand Junction for but a few months, going there from Springfield, Mo., but is said to have been a friend of long standing of Mr. Alm. Mrs. Alm will be heartily received by Mr. Alm’s friends. Mr. Alm has long resided in Telluride."


July 15, 1922 Telluride





July 22, 1922 "The body of the late Nels Alm, former Telluride man who suicided in the county jail Sunday morning while being returned to Telluride for trial on a charge of forgery, is being held at the Krohn Funeral Home, no word having been received as to the disposition of the body. Alm was in the custody of a San Miguel county officer, and that county will be responsible for his burial if no relatives can be located. Efforts are being made to locate relatives and to learn whether or not Alm had any means.
Grand Junction Sentinel"

"Grand Junction.—Accused of forgery, Nels Nelson of Telluride killed himself at the Mesa county jail here by swallowing poison. He was sald to have left Telluride after passing a bad check for S2OO. Nelson was arrested later at Eagle, where he was working under the name of Alm. Jail officials who searched him allowed him to keep a bottle which he told them contained medicine."

FRANK WISE

August 1911 Telluride "Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wise left yesterday afternoon for the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nels 'Alen', on Wilson mesa."

March 1912 "The stork visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wise at Newmire yesterday, and left a fine baby girl."

May 1912 Montrose "Ethel Wise has filed suit in the county oourt for a divorce from her husband, Frank Wise. The suit is based on cruelty and nonsupport."

August 1912 " Frank Wise, for a long time a resident of this city, is now working for the Primos company at Newmire."

Frank Wise registered for WWI in Los Alamos, California, born July 27, 1891 at Wallace, New Mexico, a farm laborer, with a wife and two children.

March 1924 Telluride "Last Friday afternoon while playing with a .32 calibre revolver, Lee Wise, 12-vear-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wise, of Hotchkiss, was accidentally shot through the abdomen. The bullet entered one side of the boy’s body and furrowed its way through to the other side. He was hastened to Delta hospital, and the surgical skill of Dr. A. F. Erick was summoned. It was found that the bullet had made 16 perforations in the boy’s intestines. Reports last night, or almost a week after the accident, indicate that the lad has a good chance for recovery."

Eunice Hazel Clara Brandley, Age: 30, of Phoenix, and Frank Wise married in August 1932 in San Bernardino County, California.

In 1940 Coconino County, Arizona, Frank Wise is an auto mechanic, 48, Eunice H. I. Wise 38 Wife, Frank Charles Wise 3 Son, Joetta Caroline Wise, 7/12 Daughter, and Nels Arnold Wise 2/12 Son. (Both were born August 27, 1939.)

In 1950 Phoenix, Arizona, Eunice C. Wise is a cook in a school, divorced, 48, Charles B. Wise 13 Son, Joetta C. Wise 10 Daughter, and Nels A. Wise 10 Son.

The body was sent to Williams Friday afternoon for services and burial. Born July 28, 1901, in Montrose, Colo., he had been farming in the Williams area 12 years. He came to Mesa for medical treatment.
He is survived by his wife, Luella, and three children, Norma Jean, Marvel Lee and Donald David. "

After Albert passed away, she moved her family, Marvel Lee Nelson, Norma, & Donald to North Hollywood CA. She remained in CA & remarried. Her second husband's name was Reynold Sides.
Her younger brother was Donald G Ingalls, movie & television writer/producer."
