In 1900 Johnson County, Nebraska, Joseph "Fante" is 39, Abergetta Fante 43 Wife, Major Fante 17 Son, Jimmie Fante 12 Son, Mary Fante 10 Daughter, Dasy Fante 9 Daughter, Ethan Fante 6 Son, and Dollie Fante 5 Daughter.
Major and the parents were born in Italy, the rest in Nebraska.

Emma, 17, married Major A. Fonte on October 10, 1906 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Emma's sister Pearl and Thomas Protsman and family, lived in a two-room shanty until a one-room house could be built for each family.

Major proved up 240 acres in section 10, 1N 45W in 1913.

Major proved up 80 acres in 2, 3N 45W in 1921.

In 1930 Wray precinct, Major A. Fonte is 46, Emma B. Fonte 40 Wife, Carlton S. Fonte 17 Son, Hellin M. Fonte 12 Daughter, and Loretta D. Fonte 10 Daughter.

July 1937 "Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Fonte arrived Tuesday evening from Washington where they had been visiting Mr. Fonte’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Major Fonte. Mrs. Major Fonte came with them to make an extended visit with her children and their families here, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fonte, and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Cramer."

August 1937 "Mr. and Mrs. Willis Cramer and Charlotte and Mrs. Major Fonte left last Thursday to visit Carlton Fonte and wife at Albuquerque, N. M. and from there will go to Mrs. Fonte’s home in Washington."

September 1944 "Mr. and Mrs. Major Fonte of Auburn, Washington, came Thursday for a visit their daughter, Mrs. Willis Cramer and family, and their son Harry Fonte and family, and other relatives.
Mrs. Albert Colby, Mrs. Major Fonte and Mrs. Willis Cramer and Charlotte and Dickie Gene spent Saturday with Mrs. Harry Fonte.
Mr. and Mrs. Major Fonte and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Cramer, Charlotte and Dickie Gene were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fonte. Sunday afternoon they all visited Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Fonte."

Lulu was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Clare, Donald and Russell.
She is survived by her husband, Harry; children, Lulu Marie and Jim L. Hatheway, Sr., of Brighton, Betty Joe and Darwin G. Mainwaring of Cheyenne, WY; Nancy Dell and Terry Cranmer of Beulah, and Alan and Kathy Fonte of Wray; ten grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Sheldon of Eckley. "

"Miss Daisy Fonte became the bride of Willis Cramer at a quiet wedding at the Methodist Parsonage in Wray Saturday, Nov. 23. Rev. A. M. Carpenter officiated at the ceremony. The couple were attended by the bride’s aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Parker."

HELEN

November 1940 "A wedding of interest to many readers of The Rattler occurred on Saturday, November 16th, when Miss Helen Marie Fonte of Tacoma, Washington became the bride of Mr. Edward A. Jewett, of Tacoma Washington. The ceremony took place at the home of the bride’s parents at 8 o’clock p. m. An altar formed by baskets of chrysanthemums against a background of greens flanked with a seven branched candelabra was the background for the service.
The bride entered with her father, Major A. Fonte, and the wedding party took places in front of the altar. The bridal pair was attended by Miss Loretta Fonte, sister of the bride; and by Mr. Joe Fitzpatrick. Miss Evelyn Jewett, sister of the bridegroom, lighted the tapers in the candelabra. She wore a torquoise chiffon dress with a corsage of pink roses. Rev. A. B. Morris of Puyallup, Wash., officiated at the single ring ceremony, in which the bride was given in marriage by her father. Miss Marian Marty played the wedding march.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Major Fonte of Auburn, Washington. She attended school in Wray, Colo., and graduated from the Wray high school in 1935. She attended nurses’ training at the Tacoma General Hospital, graduating in 1938. Since that time she has been employed as Assistant Supervisor of Surgery at the Tacoma General Hospital.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pewett of Puyallup, Wash. He attended Lincoln high school at Tacoma, and is now employed at the Northern Pacific shops in Tacoma.
The bride wore a floor length dress of white marquisette with a square neckline and a full skirt. The fingertip veil was held by a halo of bouvardia. She carried a bouquet of white roses and bouvardia. The bridegroom and best man wore dark business suits. Miss Fonte wore a blue brocaded organdy and carried a bouquet of pink roses. The bride chose as her going away costume a forest green costume suit with brown accessories and a gardenia corsage. Mrs. Fonte, the bride’s mother, wore a black and white silk crepe dress; Mrs. Jewet, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a military blue velvet dress. Both wore corsages of pink roses.
Immediately following the ceremony was a informal reception withMrs. Pearl Protsman, aunt of the bride, presiding at the table which was centered with white rosebuds in a crystal bowl and lighted tapers in crystal holders. Miss Marian Jewett cut the cake.
After a two weeks motor trip to California, Mr. and Mrs. Jewett will make their home in Tacoma, Washington."

"Helen Jewett, 91, of Loveland, Colorado, died on Friday, the 17th of October, 2008, at the North Shore Nursing Home facility. She had been a resident there for nearly two years. Helen was born October 1, 1917, in Wray, Colorado, to Major Arthur and Emma Eliza Belle Parker Fonte. Major had immigrated from North Western Italy in 1887 and Emma was from Tecumseh, Nebraska. Helen attended the single room Sunnyside School near her home west of Wray. She also attended the Yuma County High School where she graduated in 1935. After graduating from high school she, her parents and a younger sister moved to Auburn, Washington. Helen had planned to go to Denver and attend nursing school following her high school graduation. After the move to Washington, she found the Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing where she enrolled in January of 1936. She graduated from the school in 1938 and began her career as a registered nurse. Helen was an operating room nurse and worked at Tacoma General Hospital, Medical Arts Hospital, Allenmore Medical Center as well as for an oral surgeon all in Tacoma. She retired from her nursing career in 1978. Helen married Edward Jewett on November 16, 1940 at her parent’s home in Auburn, Washington. Helen and Eddie lived in Tacoma, Washington where they raised their family. After they retired, they spent a lot of time traveling in the Pacific Northwest. A highlight of that experience was a 1990 50th wedding anniversary cruise to Alaska that included the entire family. They also spent time taking care of their gardens that had rhododendrons, azaleas and roses and also a large vegetable garden. After Eddie passed away in 1997, Helen moved to Loveland, Colorado to be close to her family. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Stolarski of Crofton, Maryland and her husband Richard; a son, Robert Jewett of Loveland and his wife Janet; three grandchildren, Susan Stolarski Datta of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and her husband Joy, Steven Stolarski of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia and his wife Vanessa; Emily Jewett Cuin of Burns, Wyoming and her husband Patrick; two great-grandchildren, Kellen Datta of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Zachary Stolarski of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Services will be held at the Fir Lane Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Spanaway, Washington October 24, 2008 at 11AM. "
