JOHN'S FAMILY

Henry Delosson Parker was born October 1, 1845 in Franklin County, Ohio, and died May 4, 1929 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
Mary Ann Frisby Parker waws born November 5, 1860 in Manhattan, Kansas, and died August 31, 1945 in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Olive Pearl Parker married Thomas J. Protsman in 1898 and also moved to Yuma County.

"Mrs. Ellorah K. Parker, wife of John S. Parker, died at the family home, on the E. D. Wright farm, just south of the city, on Monday, September 14, 1914, and but a short time thereafter an infant son, born to the family the day before, also psssed away.
Mrs. Parker was aged twenty-one years, nine montka and twenty-eight days.
Ellorah Kinser was born at Cambridge, Neb., February l6, 1893. With her parents she moved to Edison 1898, and, on January 20, 1909, she was married to John G. Parker. A short time after they came to Johnson connty, where the family home has since been.
Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Parker, the husband and two daughters, Mary Ellen, and Lena Anna, surviving. The deceased is survived by her parents, five sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Parker was a loving wife and mother and was admired by many friends. The father and daughters have the sympathy of all in their bereavement. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday sfternoon, conducted by Rev. C.T. WHwidy of the Baptist church. Mother and babe were buried in one grave in the Tecumseh cemetery."


"Henry D. Parker was born at Columbus, Ohio, October 1, 1845, and he died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Daniel Stephens, in the southeast part of Tecumseh, at 2:81 oclock, p. m., on Saturday, May 4, 1929.
Mr. Parker came to Johnson county in 1868, being among the genuine pioneers, as you will note. On October 1, 1878, ten years after locating here, he was married to Miss Mary Frisby, at Brownville. Their first home was upon a farm in this community. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Parker, and Mrs. Parker and five of the children survive.
The children are Mrs. Pearl Protsman, who lives in the state of Washington; Mrs. Ida Stephens of Tecumseh, John H. Parker of Eckley, Colo.; Stephen Parker and Mrs. Emma Fonte of Wray, Colorado. There are twenty-four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.
After leaving the farm, Mr. and Mrs. Parker came to Tecumeeh to reside. In 1919 they moved td Wray, Colo., but about a year ago, at the time of the death of the son-in-law, Daniel Stephens, they came to Teeumseh to make their home with their daughter.
Mr. Parker was a kind and thoughtful man. He was devoted to hie family and those about him, and his relatives will always have a pleasant memory of tha departed.
His wife, Mary and other relatives, have the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement. Rev. W. H. Wright of the Methodist church conducted tha funeral at the Stephans home, at 9:80 oclock Tueaday forenoon. Relatives and friends were present at the service, and there were many nice flowers. The interment was in the Tecumseh cemetery."

January 1931 "Mr. and Mrs. Walter Protsman and Mary Parker of Fort Morgan and Mr. and Mrs. John Parker and family spent Christmas at the Steve Parker home."
June 25, 1931 "Mrs. Protsman came from Washington Tuesday to visit her mother Mrs. Mary Parker and other relatives. "

Merle Ilene (Parker) Penton stayed with Walter and Hazel during WWII, babysitting their children.
Merle was the daughter of John and Georgia (Kinser) Parker, bonrn south of Eckley about 1923.

October 1945 "Mrs. Willis Cramer and son and Mrs. Pearl Protsman called on Mrs. Frank Shively, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Miller and Mrs. Major Parker Wednesday afternoon."

In 1950 Kersey, Weld County, Colorado, Ernest M. Thomas is 42, Lena A. Thomas 37 Wife, Neal L. Thomas 17 Son, Fern A. Thomas 12 Daughter, and John G. Parker 65, widowed father-in-law.

September 1945 "Funeral services were held last week for Mrs. Mary Parker, a resident of thle community until 1836 when tee moved to Spanish Fort, Utah, to her home with a eon, Steve Parker. Mies Parker died on Avwust 31 and was buried at Tenmuiii, Nebraska, on Sunday, September 9. She was also the mother of Mrs. Major Fonte of Auburn, Watelngton, formerly of Wray, and John Parker of Greeley and the grandmother of Harry Fonte and Mrs. Willis Cramer of Wray. Her husband died a number of yean d£G Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fonte and daughters attended the services at Tscumseh and were accompanied home by Mrs. Major Fonte, who will visit her children before returning home."

" Elmer "Sonny" Eugene Huvinen of Moxee died May 21, 2008 at Kindred Hospital in Seattle. Sonny was born to Elmer T. and Mary Ellen (Parker) Huvinen on August 2, 1936 in Snoqualmie Falls, WA. Following in his father's footsteps, Sonny drove truck for Nello Pistoresi and later retired from Noel Trucking. After retirement he worked as a security guard for CWI Security in Yakima. He is survived by two daughters Terri (Ned) Rhode of Zillah and Shelly (Scott) Brown of Yakima. Three sisters, Geraldine Dailey of Seattle, Mary Ellen Wilson of Georgia and Dee Ferrell of Moses Lake, six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Viewing will be from 9 to 5 May 30 at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home."

"Dale D. Thomas was born in Eckley, Colorado to Ernest M. and Lena A. (Parker) Thomas.
On June 19, 1949 he married Marietta Langmacher in Kersey. They were married for 58 ½ years. Mr. & Mrs. Thomas lived in the Kersey area where he farmed and worked on a dairy until moving to Greeley in 1960. He went to work for Monfort the second day they opened in 1960. In 1969 they moved to Pierce, CO where he started his custom hay business. From 1983 to 1992 he operated the Evans U-Pump-it. In 1988 they moved back to the Kersey area where he farmed and raised cattle, horses, donkeys and buffalo until he retired September 1, 2007. Mr. Thomas loved going to farm and livestock auctions. Due to ill health Mr. and Mrs. Thomas moved to Greeley in 2007.
Survivors: His wife, Marietta of Greeley; son, Dean C. Thomas and wife Kathleen of Kersey; two daughters, Cindy J. Merkt and husband Herb of Kersey, Sandra A. Geisick and husband Barnard of Greeley; grandchildren, Jennifer L. VanLandingham of Kersey, Artimus A. Geisick of Greeley, LuAnn M. Dill of Evans, Christina L. Boettcher of Greeley, Matthew J. "Mrs. Frank Shively was notified early Tuesday morning that her brother, Claude Wesley Parker, formerly of Wray, had died in a Lincoln, Neb., hospital at midnight Monday night. The youth, who was 18 last Thursday, was injured on October 29 in a hunting accident while hunting ducks at Lexington, Nebraska. He sustained a leg injury and exposure. His leg was amputated Monday and was in a gangrenous condition.
The youth was born in the Wray hospital and had lived here until about two years ago when he went to Lexington and worked in an alfalfa mill. For some time he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hesse while he attended school. He was a son of Mrs. Jesse Bliven of Lexington, Neb., and John Parker of Greeley. His mother was visiting her daughter in Wray when the youth was injured. Mrs. Bliven, Mrs. Shively and little daughter, Loretta Faye, went to Lexington. Mrs. Shively returned to Wray Sunday noon. She is now ill with pneumonia and will be unable to return to attend the funeral services.
Besides the mother and father, three sisters and three brothers survive the youth. The sisters are Mrs. Merle Penton of Lexington, Mrs. Shively and Elvie of California. The brothers are Major, who lives in California, and Beryl and Cecil of Lexington."

July 1957 " Mrs. Frank Shively returned last Wednesday from Lexington, Neb., where she and Loretta had gone to visit her mother who had broken her back. Loretta remained in Bertrand, Neb., where she left with the William Pentons on Sunday to vacation through Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas."

June 1942 "Recent news which will be of interest to Wray people is the marriage of two former Wrayites—William Penton, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Penton, and Miss Merle Parker, daughter of John Parker, which took place at Las Vegas, Nevada on June 7. The Christian minister of that place officiated at the ceremony."

"Funeral services were held in Spanish Fork, Utah, on Monday for Major Steven Parker, 37, who was fatally injured in an accident on the previous Thursday while at work as a switchman in the U.S. Steel Corp's Geneva Works near Oren, Utah, when a hook fell from a crane.
Mr. Parker was a native of Eckley and, after attending school in this county, served six years in the navy. He had lived at Spanish Forks with his wife, Geraldine, and five children for the past two years.
He was a brother of Mrs. Frank Shively of Wray and the son of Mrs. Georgia Bliven of Lexington, Neb., who went to Spanish Fork for the services.
The other brothers and sisters are Cecil Parker, in the marines, Burrell Parker of Freedom, Calif., Mrs. Merle Penton of Bertrand, Neb., and Mrs. Elvle Griger of Indlewood, Calif."

June 1927 " Major Fonte and John and Steve Parker left Friday afternoon for Tecumseh, Neb., to attend the funeral of a brother-in-1aw, D. Stevens. Mr. Stevens and family visited the Parker and Fonte families last summer."

February 1929 "Mrs. Keuser arrived last Monday for a visit with her daughters Mrs. Steve Parker and Mrs. John Parker."

May 1929 "Mr. and Mrs. Major Fonte, Mr. and Mrs. John Parker and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Parker were called to Tecumseh, Neb., by a telegram stating that Grandpa Parker had passed away Saturday afternoon."

August 1936 "Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fonte, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Cramer and daughter spent Sunday at Wiggins, Colo., where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Parker and family, and Mrs. Mary Parker."

November 1952 "Miss Betty Noffsinger, daughter of Ray Noffsinger, became the bride of Walter R. Parker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Parker of Spanish Fork, Utah, on Thursday, October 2. The rites were solemnized at the Parker home by the Bishop J. Victor Leifson and witnessed by close relatives and friends. The rooms were made lovely for the occasion by bouquets of yellow chrysanthemums and pink roses. The bride wore a white street length dress with an orchid corsage. The groom’s brother, Allen Parker, was best man. The young couple will live in Pocatello, Ida., where the groom, who returned home last spring from the navy is employed."

Elvie May Parker married John Steve Griger on 15 Jul 1953 in Utah.
