P. Epperson, editor of The Reflex, died very suddenly of heart trouble shortly before midnight Wednesday evening (December 31, 1930_
Mr. Epperson, in company with his family and a host of friends, was attending the
New Years eve celebration at the Hotel Bigelow, and was dancing when stricken.
He complained of not feeling very well, and he and his partner had started to
leave the dance floor when he fell. Dr. G. Rutledge, a member of the party,
was close at hand and made an effort to revive him, but he died while being
removed to a room in the hotel.
Mr. Epperson was editor of the Weekly Reflex and the Ogden Post of Ogden;
manager and founder of the Inland Printing company, a member of the state
legislature in the session of 1927; former city councilman of Kaysville;
former president of the Utah 3tate Press association,
and for twelve years previous to his death was chairman of that organization
legislative committee. For many years prior to his death he waa prominent in
Republican politics of the state and also served many state political and
non-political committees and served as a member of the state central
committee for one year.
During the World war he was chairman of the Davis county selective
service board. He was an active member of the Sons of the American
Revolution of this state.
Mr. Epperson was born in Abingdon, Illinois, September 23, 1859,
the son of Hiram Perry and Susanna lUchtrdaon Epperson.
As a young man he was a printers apprentice; and in 1878 moved
to Denver and later to Colorado City, where he was editor of the Iris.
In 1888 he married Leanora Ash in Colorado Springs.
In 1909 Mr. Epperson moved to Green River, Utah, and three
years later the family came to Kaysville, where he acquired the Weekly Reflex
and organized the Inland Printing company. In 1926 he organised Tho Ogden Post.
Besidea his widow he is survived by a son, Clyde Ashley Epperson;
a daughter, Mrs. Charles V. K. Saxton, and three grandchildren, all of Keysville.
Funeral services have been set for Sunday afternoon and will be as follows:
Family service will be held at the home at 2:15 p. with the Right Reverend Arthur
W. Moulton, Episcopal bishop of Utah, in charge. Public services will be held
in the Keysville tabernacle at 3:30 with Bishop Frank Hyde of Kaysville in
charge. Speakers at this service will be President Henry II. plood of
North Davis stake, former Mayor John G. M. Barnes, the Right Reverend Bishop
Moulton and the Rev. John W. Ilystop, rector of the Church of Good Shepherd,
Ogden. Active pallbearers will be employees of the Inland Printing company of
Kaysville, which firm Mr. Epperfcon headed. Honorary pallbearers will include
Governor Geo. H. Dem, Secretary of State Milton H. Welling,
Chauncey P. Overfield, and Albert Phillips of Salt Lake;
J. W. Abbott, Fred M. Nye, Senator J. Francis Fowies,
Judge James A. Howell, and P. H. Mulcahy, Ogden;
Senator George H. Ryan, Eureka; John R. Galley and H. J. Sheffield, Kaysville;
E. P. Ellison, and Fred Rich, Centerville.
Friends of Epperson may view the body at the family home in Kaysville
between the hours of 1 p. m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and on Sunday morning
until 12 noon. Interment will take place at the Kaysville-Layton cemetery."
"Died, January 1, 1908, in Denver Belle Epperson. aged 39 years.
Services to be held at the undertaking parlors of Charles M. Miller, 1714 Curtis street, this morning
at 10 o'clock. Interment, Riverside."

"Estella Epperson Barbour of Pebble Beach, died at her home on Jan. 30, 1983,
after a period of failing health. Born July 1, 1897, in Colorado Springs,
she was the daughter of William P. and Leonora A. Epperson, and sister of
Clyde A. Epperson, the founders of the Inland Printing Company and publishers
of the Weekly Reflex in Davis County. The family moved to Kaysville in 1910.
Mrs. Barbour moved to Bronxville, New York, in the thirties, and then to
California in the fifties. Her husband, Samuel Barbour, died in 1960.
In keeping with the printing and publishing tradition of the Epperson family,
she was editor and business manager of the one-time weekly Ogden Post.
She served several times as delegate to the national convention of the
Daughters of the American Revolution, and was founding secretary of the
American Red Cross in Utah. She later became national vice president of the
American Legion Auxiliary and was an early member of the Bay View Club.
Mrs. Barbour was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Monterey, Calif.,
and a member of the Altar Guide there.
Survivors include her son, Richard E. Saxton, San Francisco;
step-daughter, Mrs. Maijorie Barbour Sloat, Oakland, niece,
Mrs. Betty Epperson Browneller, La Habra; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at St. Johns Chapel, Rev. Jerome Politzer, officiating."
