"COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept 24. John W. Ash, an old time resident of Colorado, died this morning. He was 61 years of age at the time of his death. He hud been a resident of Colorado for twenty-five years and freighted to Leadville in the early days. He leaves a son and daughter. The funeral will be held in this city Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock."

"John was the husband of Tabitha Ash and the father of Nettie. Aged 61 yrs, 8 months, and 12 days. At the residence of his son, Adelbert Ash, John Wesley Ash died in Colorado City. He was born in Jackson County, Illinois in January 6, 1836. He was one of a large family and has brothers, half brother, and sisters residing in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and California. He, with his family, arrived in Colorado 25 years ago and he has been a resident ever since. For a number of years he resided in Colorado City and owned the land which east Colorado City and Stump's addition now occupy. During the old Leadville days, he had a freighting outfit on the road between Colorado City and Leadville. The last years were spent on his ranch located in Douglas County, some 20 miles from Denver. For the last 30 years, John Ash had been more or less an invalid. When he was a young man, he married Tabitha Fitzgerald. They had nine children, two that still survived at his death, Mrs. W.P. Epperson and Adelbert Ash, both residents of Colorado City. On February 18, 1883 Tabitha died at her home in Colorado City. John never remarried. In November of 1896, John travelled to Excelsior Springs, Missouri in the hope of getting well. He suffered from cancer. He returned in worse health. He lived the rest of his life in the homes of his son and daughter in Colorado city. John passed way from cancer under the care of Dr. Briscoe. The funeral was held in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. C.M. Reid officiated. He was interred in Evergreen Cemetery beside Tabitha and his daughter, Nettie."

"W. P. Epperson, editor of The Reflex, died very suddenly of heart trouble shortly before midnight Wednesday evening (December 31, 1930_ Mr. Epperson, in company with his family and a host of friends, was attending the New Years eve celebration at the Hotel Bigelow, and was dancing when stricken. He complained of not feeling very well, and he and his partner had started to leave the dance floor when he fell. Dr. G. Rutledge, a member of the party, was close at hand and made an effort to revive him, but he died while being removed to a room in the hotel.
Mr. Epperson was editor of the Weekly Reflex and the Ogden Post of Ogden; manager and founder of the Inland Printing company, a member of the state legislature in the session of 1927; former city councilman of Kaysville; former president of the Utah 3tate Press association, and for twelve years previous to his death was chairman of that organization legislative committee. For many years prior to his death he waa prominent in Republican politics of the state and also served many state political and non-political committees and served as a member of the state central committee for one year.
During the World war he was chairman of the Davis county selective service board. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Revolution of this state.
Mr. Epperson was born in Abingdon, Illinois, September 23, 1859, the son of Hiram Perry and Susanna lUchtrdaon Epperson. As a young man he was a printers apprentice; and in 1878 moved to Denver and later to Colorado City, where he was editor of the Iris. In 1888 he married Leanora Ash in Colorado Springs.
In 1909 Mr. Epperson moved to Green River, Utah, and three years later the family came to Kaysville, where he acquired the Weekly Reflex and organized the Inland Printing company. In 1926 he organised Tho Ogden Post.
Besidea his widow he is survived by a son, Clyde Ashley Epperson; a daughter, Mrs. Charles V. K. Saxton, and three grandchildren, all of Keysville.
Funeral services have been set for Sunday afternoon and will be as follows: Family service will be held at the home at 2:15 p. with the Right Reverend Arthur W. Moulton, Episcopal bishop of Utah, in charge. Public services will be held in the Keysville tabernacle at 3:30 with Bishop Frank Hyde of Kaysville in charge. Speakers at this service will be President Henry II. plood of North Davis stake, former Mayor John G. M. Barnes, the Right Reverend Bishop Moulton and the Rev. John W. Ilystop, rector of the Church of Good Shepherd, Ogden. Active pallbearers will be employees of the Inland Printing company of Kaysville, which firm Mr. Epperfcon headed. Honorary pallbearers will include Governor Geo. H. Dem, Secretary of State Milton H. Welling, Chauncey P. Overfield, and Albert Phillips of Salt Lake; J. W. Abbott, Fred M. Nye, Senator J. Francis Fowies, Judge James A. Howell, and P. H. Mulcahy, Ogden; Senator George H. Ryan, Eureka; John R. Galley and H. J. Sheffield, Kaysville; E. P. Ellison, and Fred Rich, Centerville.
Friends of Epperson may view the body at the family home in Kaysville between the hours of 1 p. m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and on Sunday morning until 12 noon. Interment will take place at the Kaysville-Layton cemetery."

"Estella Epperson Barbour of Pebble Beach, died at her home on Jan. 30, 1983, after a period of failing health. Born July 1, 1897, in Colorado Springs, she was the daughter of William P. and Leonora A. Epperson, and sister of Clyde A. Epperson, the founders of the Inland Printing Company and publishers of the Weekly Reflex in Davis County. The family moved to Kaysville in 1910.
Mrs. Barbour moved to Bronxville, New York, in the thirties, and then to California in the fifties. Her husband, Samuel Barbour, died in 1960. \ In keeping with the printing and publishing tradition of the Epperson family, she was editor and business manager of the one-time weekly Ogden Post. She served several times as delegate to the national convention of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was founding secretary of the American Red Cross in Utah. She later became national vice president of the American Legion Auxiliary and was an early member of the Bay View Club. Mrs. Barbour was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Monterey, Calif., and a member of the Altar Guide there.
Survivors include her son, Richard E. Saxton, San Francisco; step-daughter, Mrs. Maijorie Barbour Sloat, Oakland, niece, Mrs. Betty Epperson Browneller, La Habra; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at St. Johns Chapel, Rev. Jerome Politzer, officiating."

"Mrs. Nora Maud Ash, wife of A. A. Ash, who has been employed on the Democrat In Sterling for the past two years, died in Mercy Hospital at Denver, Saturday, August 20th, after undergoing a painful operation, made necessary by over a year's suffering from a most complicated disease. The deceased was born March 18th, 1876, and died August 20th, 1910, aged 34 years, 5 months and 3 days. A husband and two little sons, aged 12 and 8 years, are left to mourn her loss. Mrs. Ash was a most industrious worker in the Catholic church of this city, and held many important offices In the different societies of that organization. During her residence in Sterling she made many warm friends, and was a woman who was well liked by all who knew her.
The funeral was conducted from the Catholic church in this city Monday morning at 10 o’clock, her father and brother and other near relatives being present at the ceremonies.
The Republican-Advocate joins with the many friends and well wishers of the family in extending their most heartfelt sympathies to them in their hour of bereavement."
