"NANCY E. JONES was born at Bethana, Mo., September 9. 1862, and died at Willard, Colo., October 6. 1916, at the age of 54 years and 27 days. At the age of 16 she united with the Baptist church, and continued her covenant relations with the same the remainder of her life. She removed with her parents, Henry and Mary Jones, from Missouri to the state of Nebraska in 1865. Here she was united in marriage to E. L. Harris, December 31, 1882. Seven children were born to them, all of whom are living. Mrs. Harris came with her husband and family to Willard October 12th, 1910.
She leaves to mourn their loss the husband. E. L. Harris, and the following children: Homer A., Hattie E. Mclntlre, Henry M., Ira T., Mary E Colson, Flora 8. Killerlain, Dora M. Lorny, and a host of sympathizing neighbors and friends. Mrs. Harris had been a patient sufferer for many years and gladly welcomed the messenger that bade her home.
Funeral services were conducted from the M. E. church at Willard on Saturday afternoon, by W. M. Force, and the remains were laid to rest at Prairie Lawn cemetery."

"Hugh Dell Colson, 86, of Salem died June 27, 2009 at rest in his sleep. He was born in Willard, Colorado on August 3, 1922. Hugh spent his childhood in Sheridan, Oregon. He served several years in the United States Navy aboard the USS San Francisco during World War II. After the war, he was a logger in Oregon and California. He also pursued an education in engineering which led to a career in construction in southern California specializing as a master craftsman in woodworking. In 1963, he moved to Salem and started a dairy farm. Soon thereafter, he co-founded Colson & Colson Construction in Salem with his son, William and was subsequently a partner in the Holiday Retirement Corporation. His personal interest and hobbies included fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. Survivors include his wife, Margie Colson; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a stepson. His first wife of many years, Faye; brothers, Cecil and Dick; and a sister, Zela Belle, preceded him in death. Funeral for friends and family will be 10 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2009 at City View Funeral Home with viewing from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at City View Cemetery. "

On Easter Sunday, 1947, she married Robert E Westcott in Sterling. They lived in Sterling where Robert worked as an electrician and she took time off to be mom to their three children. She later opened Wilma's Beauty Shop in her home, which she kept up until just afewyears ago.
Wilma was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She enjoyed golfing at Riverview Golf Course for several years. Recently her greatest joy has been loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her quiet presence will be missed by her family and friends.
Wilma is survived by her husband Robert Westcott; sons Robert Westcott of Denver, and Donald Westcott of Sterling; daughters Paula Burton and husband Glen of Sterling; sister Margaret Dickerson of Sterling; brother Frank Long and wife Dolly of Denver; brother-in-law Vic Yost and wife Wilma of Sterling; grandson Jared Burton and wife Amber of Sterling; granddaughters Joneen Trump and husband Cullen, and Joelle Burton, all of Sterling; great- grandchildren Ashley Helmberger and Andrew Burton, both of Carbondale, Taylor Barton, Bryony, Darcy and Camryn Trump, all of Sterling; and several nieces and nephews.

"Victor James Yost, 88, of Sterling, passed away Dec. 27, 2008, in Sterling. Visitation for Victor will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Gerk Funeral Home in Haxtun. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Haxtun United Methodist Church in Haxtun. Interment will follow at the Haxtun Cemetery.
Victor was born in Haxtun to Henry and Anna (Nolde) Yost on Oct. 22, 1920. He graduated from Sterling High School.
He married Pauline Long on Sept. 21, 1941, in Sterling. Victor had a lifelong love of farming and farmed in the Haxtun area. The couple was blessed with two children: Linda and Victoria.
Pauline passed away July 12, 1977.
Victor later married Wilma (Mutchie) Grauberger in December 1979. They lived in Haxtun until 1999, when they retired and moved into their new home in Sterling. They also spent a good deal of time traveling to Texas and Alaska, where they acquired many friends along the way. Wilma passed away in May of 2007.
Victor was an active member of the Haxtun and Fleming Farmer’s Coop and a member of the Sterling Elks Club. He enjoyed wood-working, golf and most of all fishing. He liked sitting on his porch and just enjoying the outdoors. The weather was also of great interest to him."
