In 1900 Smith County, Charles Buzzell is 54, Mary M. Buzzell 56 Wife, Clarence E. Buzzell 28 Son, Sarah E. Buzzell 26 Daughter, William H. Buzzell 25 Son, Ansel G. Buzzell 23 Son, Celista J. Buzzell 20 Daughter, Lee C. Buzzell 14 Son, and Catherine Buzzell 18 Daughter.

The McNichols ranch was 23 miles northeast of Yuma, in the Pleasant Valley community. Later that land was owned by the Moran family, then the Bob Korf family.

In 1910 Charles "Bezzell", widowed, 64, is in Magee precinct, Yuma County, and son Clarence E. , 38 is with him.  Next two households are single, William H. Bezzell 33 and Ansel G. 32, both born in Kansas.


EDITH'S FAMILY

One tree says that Clara Edit Ecord married Vesper Ernest Phillips - who was in prison in Montana in 1920-  and had a child, then married Ansel Gilman Buzzell and had two children.

In 1910 Rock Creek precinct, Washington County, sister-in-law Edith C. Phillips, 24, born in Kansas and her son Guy, 4, Kansas, are living with the  Caldwells.

Ansel G. Buzzell claimed land in 5N 48W (just over the line in Yuma County).  Ansel 1878-1956 and Edith C. Buzzell 1886-1968 are buried in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. 


In 1907-1910 a Buzzell was on the Ford area baseball team, and was good enough that Yuma had him as a pitcher against Akron.


In 1910 Joseph Buzzell, Mike Gisi, Albert Monk (my grandfather), and George Whitcomb were candidates for two constable positions in Justice Precinct No. 5,

Edith C. Buzzell "formerly Edith C. Phillips" proved up a quarter in 25, 5N 49W in 1914.



August 1911 - Ford was the store and post office near the Pleasant Valley Church.

Ansel, Clarence, and William each claimed land in 5N 48W on May 20, 1913.

Ansel Gilman Buzzell registered with an address of Route A, Yuma, born Feb 7, 1878, married.

Clell Buzzell, per the tree, was born in Yuma Colorado.

July 12, 1909 Catherine Buzzell, 27 married C.P. Marsh, 29, George Ledrow Rulison, minister of Holyoke, recorded in Phillips County.

The household preceding is Peter Cummings 49, widowed, with Bertha J. 17 and Vertin, 15, both born in Kansas. 

On the same page is Henry H. Cummings, 30, and Sarah E. 36, both born in Kansas.  So four of his kids are near Charles in 1910.


A. G. Buzzell Age 34, married Edith Phillips on 4 Jan 1913 in Holyoke, Phillips County, Colorado.

Ansel Gilman Buzzell registered for WWI in Yuma, born February 7, 1878, farming on Route A, with wife Edith C. Buzzell.

The Yuma Pioneer reported that Clell was born October 19, 1917 in Yuma.

In 1930 Sawyer, Wisconsin A.G. Buzzel is 52, Edith C. 44, with Dale G. 15, Clell E. 12, both boys born in Colorado, and brother William H. Buzzell,  53.

In 1940 Sawyer County Ansel is farming with Edith, Dale is teaching school, Clell is a stenographer, married to Joyce, 20, a clerk in a drug store.



In 1950 Eau Claire, Ansel G. Buzzell is 72, Edith Buzzell 64 Wife, and Eva Ecord 88 Mother-in-law.

Ansel 1878-1956 and Clara 1886-1968 are buried in Eau Claire.


" Edith C. Buzzell, 82, 414 Lone St., Eau Claire, died Tuesday morning, July 23, 1968, at Luther Hospital. She waa born in Decatur County, Kansas, and lived in the Winter area for 25 years. She had been a resident of Eau Claire the past 23 years.
Surviving are three sons, Clell, Eau Claire; Dale, Portland, Ore., and Guy Phillips, Winter; three sisters, Elizabeth Muir, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Hazel Kennedy, McPherson, Kans.; Mrs. Dora Caldwell, Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Allen and Ora Ecord, Topeka, Kans., and Fred, Portland, Ore., and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Friday at the Wesleyan Methodist Church, with Rev. Fred Francis officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery."

Clell Buzzell was elected president of the Wisconsin Associated Press Sports Writers in 1962.

Clell -1917-1994 is buried in Eau Claire.




Cheryl J. Buzzell, 66, of Perry, KS., died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at her home. She was born December 15, 1943 at Eau Claire, WI., the daughter of Clell Eccord and Joyce Arlene Johnson Buzzell. Cheryl graduated from high school in Eau Claire. She worked as a tire builder for Goodyear Tire, Topeka. She was a member of Williamstown Assembly of God Church. Survivors include a son, Roger N. Buzzell, Lawrence, two brothers, Neil Buzzell, WA., Brian Buzzell, Green Bay, WI. She was preceded in death by her father on June 30, 1994 and her sister, Judy Buzzell in 1985. Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 17, 2010 at Williamstown Assembly of God Church, Williamstown, KS.

Dale Gilman Buzzell 92 a prominent music educator in Buffalo, Wyoming  from 1944 to 1954 passed away on Oct 9 2007 in Santa Barbara Calif Dale was born on March 3 1915 in Yuma Colo the first of two children of homesteaders Ansel Gilman Buzzell and Clara Edith Eccord The family moved to Wisconsin in the early 1920s and Dale graduated from Winter High School in 1931.   He received a Bachelors Degree from Eau Claire State Teachers College in 1936 and a Masters Degree in History from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1941 Dale met Marie Alice Tibbetts in 1937 and they were married at Winneshiek County Court House Decorah Iowa on November 22 1940



November 1929 Menomonie, Wisconsin, " Miss Helen Janet Downing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Downing of Wheeler, was united in matrimony to Guy E. Phillips, cashier of the Winter State bank of Winter, Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Winona, Minn. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ansel G. Buzzell. The bridal party consisted of the contracting parties and Miss Tresa Burdt of Eau Claire and Roy Martin of Winter. The bride is a graduate of the Winter High school with the class of 1929 and during these school years she has made her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John G. Carter of Winter. For nearly a year she has been employed as stenographer and other duties at the Winter State bank and with the Winter Insurance agency.
Mr. Phillips graduated from, the Winter High school with the class of 1924 and since then has been employed with the Winter banking institution, winning promotion, until when about a year ago, he was named cashier, as well as cne of the directors.
Following the ceremony the bridal party returned to Winter where they were served with a wedding supper at the Carter home. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips are making their home in Winter."
Guy Phillips, age 92 years, formerly of Winter died Monday, November 24, 1997 in Ladysmith, WI. Guy was born on November 13, 1905 in Oberlin, Kansas, son of Vesper and Edith (Ecord) Phillips. He moved to Winter from Yuma, Colorado in the spring of 1920 where he went to Winter High School and graduated in 1924. He started to work at the Chippewa Valley Bank in 1924 and was with the bank until 1968. He started out as Bookkeeper in 1924, assistant cashier in 1929, cashier in 1936, and became president in 1953, retiring in 1968. He married Helen Downing in 1929 at Winona, Minnesota and she also worked in the bank a a cashier. Guy was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Winter on April 25, 1954. He had been a Trustee in the Presbyterian Church for several years and both he and his wife were members of this Church. Guy was a Treasurer for the Winter Township for 2 terms, Chairman of the Red Cross, Heart and several bond drives, member of the 1st local Volunteer Fire Dept. Mr. Phillips was an avid bowler and liked to play golf. He belonged to Masonic Ogilvie Lodge #326 of Radisson. Guy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen on November 5, 1991; his 1\2 brother, Clell Buzzell, (Clell's granddaughter and a grandson); brother- in law Thos Nooney & Nephew John Patrick Nooney. Guy is survived by Dale (Marie) Buzzell of Portland, OR & their three children Craig, Odette & Rolfe; Clell's wife Joyce and their three children Neil Sr, Cheryl & Bryan Buzzell & their families. Wister in laws: Dorothy (Wayne) Weill, Menomonie, WI; Violet Nooney, Menomonie, WI& her son Patrick (Elise) and their family (Ann, Kate, Michael, Marcus and Emily) and many friends. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Winter at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 1 with Pastor Fay Johnson officiating. Visitation was from 12-1 P.M. Organ music was provided by Mark Bartlett. Burial was in the Winter Cemetery.
