 Likely he's the James A. Caldwell in 1910 Washington County, Colorado, 30 born in Iowa, married four years to Dora, 25, born in Kansas.  Ruby E. 3 was born in Kansas, and Fern 1 in Colorado.

Services will be at 10 a. m. Tuesday as Tibbitts-Griffin Highland Mortuary for Ora P. Ecord, 90, Route 2, Berryton, who died Saturday in an Overbrook convalescent center after a long illness.

He was born Feb. 13, 1892, in Decatur County, the son of Oscar and Eva Gant Ecord. He lived in Decatur County for 16 years and in Fleming, Colo. for 14 years. He lived briefly in Missouri and in northeast Kansas before he moved the Richland and Berryton Community in 1939.

Mr. Ecord worked for Topeka Mill and later at El Marling's in Topeka before he retired in 1957.

He was married to Elma Northup May 4, 1928, at Holyoke, Colo. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Ora L. Ecord, Topeka; four daughters, Mrs. Letha Smith and Mrs. Evelyn Musick, Overbrook, Mrs. Doris Thompson, Lawerenceville, Ga. Mrs. Joyce Olmstead, Dacono, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Kennedy, Sterling, Colo.; a brother Allen E. Ecord, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Richland.

Ruby married Raymond Dixson Jun 5, 1924, recorded in Yuma County.

Fern married C.D. Tanner Feb 6, 1926, recorded in Logan County

In 1930 Logan County Dora is living with daughter Ruby Dixson and her husband Raymond and their two kids Shirley 4 and Raymond Jr. 3.

Dora is a laundry worker in 1940 Sterling, living alone.

Melva L. Bowles, 77, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born February 25, 1931, in Haxtun, CO to Everett & Olive Northup. The Northup family moved to the New Raymer community where Melva attended and later graduated from New Raymer High School. Melva worked as a secretary at the Fort Morgan Middle School for 12 years. She later provided home care for several elderly folks in the Fort Morgan area. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing the piano, baking wedding cakes, and doing crafts of all types. Survivors include her 2 children, Cheryll Steinbeck of North Platte, NE, and Tim Bowles of Olathe, KS; 1 brother, Dan Northup of Texas; 2 sisters, Elva Steffen of North Platte, NE and Olive Mitchell of Cypress, TX; 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Oral Northup and Harold Northup; 4 sisters, Luella Meyers, Mildred Wisdom, Sadie Caneva, and Elma Ecord; and her parents. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. The service will conclude at the chapel. Inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan at a later date. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Eben Ezer Care Center Sommerlyst Unit or to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o Heer Mortuaries.

2007 Elma Alberta Northrup Ecord - Born in Avalo, Colorado. Passed away at Brookside Manor in Overbrook, KS She was the daughter of Everett and Olive (Mitchell) Northrup. Married Ora P. Ecord May 4, 1928.

In 1910 Rock Creek precinct, Washington County, sister-in-law Edith C Phillips, 24, born in Kansas and her son Guy, 4, Kansas, are living with the  Caldwells.  Mrs. Edith Phillips married A.G. Buzzell Jan 4, 1913, recorded in Phillips County. That must be Ansel G. Buzzell, who claimed land in 5N 48W (just over the line in Yuma County).  Ansel 1878-1956 and Edith C. Buzzell 1886-1968 are buried in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  The tree says that Clara Edit Ecord married Vesper Ernest Phillips - who was in prison in Montana in 1920-  and had a child, then married Ansel Gilman Buzzell and had two children.


Guy Phillips, age 92 years, formerly of Winter died Monday, November 24, 1997 in Ladysmith, WI. Guy was born on November 13, 1905 in Oberlin, Kansas, son of Vesper and Edith (Ecord) Phillips. He moved to Winter from Yuma, Colorado in the spring of 1920 where he went to Winter High School and graduated in 1924. He started to work at the Chippewa Valley Bank in 1924 and was with the bank until 1968. He started out as Bookkeeper in 1924, assistant cashier in 1929, cashier in 1936, and became president in 1953, retiring in 1968. He married Helen Downing in 1929 at Winona, Minnesota and she also worked in the bank a a cashier. Guy was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Winter on April 25, 1954. He had been a Trustee in the Presbyterian Church for several years and both he and his wife were members of this Church. Guy was a Treasurer for the Winter Township for 2 terms, Chairman of the Red Cross, Heart and several bond drives, member of the 1st local Volunteer Fire Dept. Mr. Phillips was an avid bowler and liked to play golf. He belonged to Masonic Ogilvie Lodge #326 of Radisson. Guy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen on November 5, 1991; his 1\2 brother, Clell Buzzell, (Clell's granddaughter and a grandson); brother- in law Thos Nooney & Nephew John Patrick Nooney. Guy is survived by Dale (Marie) Buzzell of Portland, OR & their three children Craig, Odette & Rolfe; Clell's wife Joyce and their three children Neil Sr, Cheryl & Bryan Buzzell & their families. Wister in laws: Dorothy (Wayne) Weill, Menomonie, WI; Violet Nooney, Menomonie, WI& her son Patrick (Elise) and their family (Ann, Kate, Michael, Marcus and Emily) and many friends. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Winter at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 1 with Pastor Fay Johnson officiating. Visitation was from 12-1 P.M. Organ music was provided by Mark Bartlett. Burial was in the Winter Cemetery.
