Mary Elaine Saxton, 86, died Monday, Nov. 7, 1994, at Tekamah Nursing Center. Services were Nov. 9 at Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating. Pearl Anderson was organist. She was born to James and Ethel Saxton on Jan. 11, 1908, on a homestead in Flagler, Colo. At a young age she moved with her family to the Riverside community near Decatur, where she attended rural School District No. 30. In 1927 she graduated from Riverside High School and after graduating continued to live at home. Elaine joined the Riverside Baptist Church as a young person. Family members say she had a great love of farm animals and took long walks. Her hobbies were embroidery, crocheting and playing the piano. She cared for her parents when their health failed and after their deaths worked in a private home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. When her own health failed, she moved to Tekamah Nursing Center. Her parents and brother, James Junior, preceded in death. Miss Saxton is survived by a number of cousins and many friends. Pallbearers were Ed Morrow, Cliff Morrow, Tim Saxton, Randy Saxton, David Gilbert and Larry Harpster. Burial was at Tekamah Cemetery."
