In 1850 Franklin County, Indiana, William "Grizzle" is 59, farming, born in New York, Nancy 36 in Ohio, John 16, Nancy 12, Hamilton 10, Sidney 8, Thomas 6, Samuel 5, William3, Zebulon 2, and a four month-old son, all born in Indiana.

In 1860 Decatur County, Indiana, Wm. Griswold in 58, Nancy 45, Thomas 16, Samuel 15, William 12, Zebelon 10, Minor 9, Joseph 7, Arren 6, Zimri 3, and George 1.

Peter Zebelon Griswold, dying August 20, 1927, is buried in Atchison, Kansas # 54864431.

Perhaps: December 2, 1944 Kansas City "Mrs. Peter Griswold, a former Atchison resident, died at the home of her daughter in Valley Falls."

Sidney R. Griswold died June 22, 1862, and is buried in Arlington National 35015477 "Residing in Decatur County, Indiana at the time of enlistment. Enlisted on September 13, 1861 as a Private in the 7th Indiana Infantry, Company G. Died at Washington DC of wounds received."

In 1870 Decatur County, Indiana, John "Grissel" is a carpenter, 35, Mary E. 30, Hiram G. 13,Erasmus D. 10, Emma A. 8, Elmer E. 4, and mary E. 1.

In 1880 Woodford County, Illinois, John Griswold is a carpenter 45, Mary E. 40, Elmer 14, and Ellie 10. Mary's widowed father, David Sloan 66 is with them, born in New Jersey.

Daisy M. Irons, 16, and John C. Walker, 23, married with the written consent of John Griswold, grandfather and guardian, on Dec 18, 1897 iN Harlan COunty, Nebraska.

In 1900 Harlan County, Nebraska, John, born Nov 1834 in Indiana, married 43 years to Mary, born March 1840 in Indiana, are living with grand-daughter Daisy M. Walker born July 1881 in Illinois, and her husband John Nov 1879 Ohio.

(John C. Walker 1874-1937 is buried in Boulder, Colorado, with Daisy Mae (Irons) Walker 1881-1971 # 54982746. Her father was Lucian Griswold.)

ELMER

Elmer E. Griswold, residing in Colorado, 28, and Ida M. Wilson, 19, born in Missouri to Wm. Wilson and L. Hardin, married in Harlan County on October 21, 1894.

Elmer proved up a quarter in 7, 9S 45W in 1895, and claimed a quarter in section 22, 8S 45W, Kit Carson County, in 1900.

He's a stock raiser in 1900 Kit Carson County, born June 1866 in Indiana, with Ida M. April 1875 Missouri. Daughter Cedil M. was born October 1895 in Nebraska.

Elmer E. Griswold 1866-1902 is buried in Ragan, Harlan County, Nebraska # 74614942.

IDA

In 1910 Norton County, Kansas, Ida M. is 34, now married to Jake M. Beahm, 39. Cecil M. ias 14.

Ida Mary Beahm 1875-1920 is buried in Harlan County, Nebraska # 70373155. Jacob Beahm 1870-1947 dying in Pueblo, Colorado, is buried in Sterling, Colorado # 56875123, probably because daughter Fern M. (Beahm) Cook 1911-2004 is buried there with first husband Clyde R. Stoltz 1909-1944.

CECIL

In 1920 Dawson County, Nebraska, Cecil May is 25, married to James M. Hoppes 30, with Bessie May 1.
Cecil 1895-1956 is buried in Frontier County, Nebraska # 10936609, with James Hoppes 1890-1977.
Cecil May Griswold, daughter of Elmer and Ida Griswold, was born at Ragan, Nebraska, October 14, 1895, and passed away at the Community hospital in Cozad, Nebraska, Tuesday, January 3, 1956, at the age of 60 years, 2 months, and 19 days.
She was united in marriage to James M. Hoppes, July 7, 1913, at Norton, Kansas. To this union were born three daughters, and one son. The son passed away at the age of two years and four months.
Mrs. Hoppes lived with her parents in Ragan for a time, then the family moved to Colorado where they homesteaded. She lived there until her father died. She then returned to Ragan where she lived with her grandmother. She then moved to Kansas where she lived until the time of her marriage.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hoppes lived at Gothenburg for five years. For the past thirty-four years they have lived in Farnam.
She is survived by her husband, James M. Hoppes of Farnam, three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Frew and Mrs. Berniece Hueftle, both of Eustis, and Mrs. Doris Hueftle of Kearney. One brother, Francis Beahm [?] of San Francisco, California, one sister, Mrs. Fern Stoolz [?] of Denver, Colorado, three grandsons, Douglas and James Frew and Stephen Hueftle all of Eustis, 2 granddaughters, Paulette and Cheryl Hueftle of Kearney. One grandson, Dwaine Lee Frew, preceeded [sic] her in death.
Mrs. Hoppes was beloved by all who knew her. She leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Farnam, Friday January 6, 1956. Rev. B. H. Hart, her pastor, officiated. Music was furnished [by] Mrs. Hugo Blomquist, Dan McNickle, Charles Pollard, Mrs. Charles Davis, with Mrs. Raymond Smith at the piano. Interment in the Farnam Cemetery, with the Olesen Funeral Home in charge.

ARCHIE


1910 Burlington, Colorado "A.E. Griswold has moved his family to Ramah, where he has purchased a drug store. Mr. Griswold's many friends wish him success in his new location."

September 1910 Kit Carson County Record "Archie Griswold is spending the week in Denver. —Ramah Telegram."
November 1910 "Archie Griswold arrived home from Steamboat Springs Tuesday, but too late to vote for Governor Shafroth. - Ramah Telegram "

January 1911 "Mrs. C. A. Gillette of Burlington, Colo., spent several days with her daughter, Mrs. Archie Griswold. — Ramah Telegram"

November 1928 Aurora, Colorado "Mr. and Mrs. Archie Griswold, of the Windsor Farm Dairy, who recently sold their place, have purchased a tract of 270 acres seven miles south of Brighton."
