Hamilton Griswold, Bethune
"Born in Penn Yan, Yates, New York in 1802 to Jehiel Griswold and Jane Crossett. Thomas William Griswold married Nancy Munson and had 17 children. He passed away on 12 Sep 1864 in Noble Township, Wabash, Indiana, USA."
"Born in Hamilton, Ohio, on 24 Mar 1814. Nancy Munson married Thomas William Griswold and had 11 children. She passed away on 3 Feb 1892 in Paulding, Ohio, USA."
In 1850 Franklin County, Indiana, William "Grizzle" is 59, farming,
born in New York, Nancy 36 in Ohio, John 16, Nancy 12, Hamilton 10, Sidney 8,
Thomas 6, Samuel 5, William 3, Zebulon 2, and a four month-old son, all born in Indiana.
" Since 1865 Hamilton Griswold, who was born in
Franklin county, Ind., has been a prosperous resident of Paulding
county. His parents, who were William and Nancy (Munson) Griswold,
had a family of twelve children, of whom our subject was the eldest son.
In his boyhood, which was spent in the counties of Franklin and Decatur, in the saw and grist mills, he received but a limited education.
In April, of 1861, he enlisted in company F, Seventh Indiana volunteers,
which was the first regiment called into active duty. With his regiment
he participated in the following battles. Parkersburg, Philippi, Laurel
Hill, Cheat River or Canuck's Ford. Receiving his discharge in August,
he re-enlisted in company G, September 1, the same year, and took part
in the engagements of Potomac, Bull Run, Winchester, Fredericksburg,
Port Republic, Culpeper and in fact all the battles occurring under Gens.
Hooker, Burnside and Mead. September 20, 1864, Mr. Griswold received
his honorable discharge.
Returning home, he engaged in the handling
of timber, and later was interested in milling at Antwerp. In 1881 he
turned his attention to the pursuit of farming, having at present eighty
acres of well improved land, upon which are erected substantial buildings.
On Christmas day, 1864, Miss Sylvia I. Tanner became the wife of
Mr. Griswold and seven children are the result of this union, namely:
Kirk, William, Frank, Arthur, Archie, Ella and Ethel. Mrs. Griswold,
who is the daughter of William and Eliza (Dickinson) Tanner, was born
in De Kalb county, Ind., on November 20, 1841. The family are members
of the Disciples church and Mr. Griswold is an aggressive republican."

In 1880 Paulding County, Ohio, Hamilton Griswold is a
laborer, 42, with Silva 39, both born in Indiana. Kirk 14 was born in Ohio,
William 11 and Frank 9 in Michigan, Arthur 6, Archibald 4 and Ellen three months were born in Ohio.
Hamilton Griswold and Sylvia Tanner had Ethel Fay Griswold on Feb 26, 1882 in Paulding County, Ohio.
In 1900 Kit Carson County, Hamilton born Jan 1839,
married to Sylvia Nov 1841, both in Indiana, have Ellen D. Mar 1880 and Ethel F. Feb 1882, both born in Ohio. They're on the same page with Elmer and his new wife.
Hamilton Griswold proved up a quarter in 12, 9S 46W, Kit Carson County, Colorado, in 1901.

In 1920 Hamilton and Sylvia are in Crowley County, Colorado, with son Richard S. 54 and Delbert E. 14.

"Hamilton Griswold, 83, died yesterday morning at his home, 218 East Lowell Street.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sylvia I. Griswold, five sons and three daughters.

Evalena Adkins was born Feb 8, 1874 in Greene County, Iowa to William Lewis Adkins and Mary Elizabeth Ozbun.

1868 in Michigan, married one year to Evalina Feb 1874 Iowa, Glenn Nov 1899 in Colorado.
In 1910 Colorado Springs, William is a stationary engineer, 41, Evalina 36, Glenn G. 10, Thelma 5, Lewis H. 3 adn William C. nine months.
In 1920 Colorado Springs, William is a warehouse man, 51,
Evelena 48, Glenn 20 a taxi driver, Thelma 15, Lewis H. 13, and Chestere W. 10.
In 1930 Whittier, California, William is an electrician at a pump station,
61, Evelina 56, and William 20 a fireman.
William died June 9, 1936, and is buried in Whittier # 130538498.
Evalena A. Griswold died October 29, 1974 in Riverside County, California.
She's buried in Whittier # 130538478 as "Lena L. Griswold"
"Lena L. Griswold, 100-year- old Yucaipa resident who died Tuesday in a San Jacinto hospital, will be buried Monday at Whittier. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Hillside church, Rose Hills Memorial Park. Mrs. Griswold resided at 3.5780 Oak Glen road. She was a native of Rippey, Iowa, and had lived in Yucaipa six years with a daughter, Thelma Webb. Mrs. Griswold's survivors, besides Mrs. Webb, are two sons, Lewis H., of Vernal, Utah, and W. C, of Palmdale; a sister, Martha M. Brown, of Angus, Iowa; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great- great-granchildren. "

Thelma A. Griswold, 19, married Almond McGruder on March 24, 1924 in Colorado SPrings.
They're in Denver in 1930, Almond 27, Thelma A. 25,
Lorraine M. 5, and Almond's sister Hazel 24 born in Kansas.
Thelma A. McGruder married Charles W. hacker on Aug 9, 1940 in California.
Thelma A. Webb, born Nov 25, 1904 in Colorado, died March 13, 1981 in San Bernardino County.
Lorraine M. McCreery, born Jan 11, 1925 in Colorado to mother Griswold and father McGruder, died in Riverside County Sept 21, 1995.

"Gordon G. Griswold (18 Oct 1929-1991) was the son of Lewis Hamilton Griswold (1909-1982) and Pernie Gail Smith (1909-1984). The parents divorced. Lewis Griswold is buried in Neola, Utah. Pernie Smith Griswold remarried to a Johnson and is buried in Fairview Cemetery near her son, Gordon. Many of Pernie's kin are buried in this cemetery as well."
