died this morning at the home or her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pickerel, near Arborville.
For several years she had been 111 In a hospital at Lincoln. She was removed to the Pickrel
home last week, but took a turn for the worse. A husband and a 7-year-old son survive.
The funeral will be held in the Congregational church at Arborville Friday artemoon at 2.
Burial will be at Arborville."

"Robert Harold Dickson, 40 of 166 25th street, died in the Veterans hospital in Salt Lake City on
Friday evening, after a lingering illness. He was horn Sept. 21, 1907, in Callaway, Nebr.
He operated a farm In Nyssa, Ore., until enlisting In the army March 15, 1942, as a private.
He took basic training at Fort Douglas. He served In the Normandy, northern France, and
the Rhineland campaigns. He was awarded the presidential citation, the European-African-Mtddle
EaNtern theatre ribbon, the American theatre ribbon, and three bronze campaign stars,
the victory ribbon, the combat badge, and the purple heart, with two oak leaf clusters
from wounds received on 8ept. 20, Oct. 25, and Nov. 22, 1944, in France and Germany.
He was dicharged from Bushnell general hospital Febr. 21, 1946, as a staff sergeant.
On April 25, 1946, he was married to Ada Childs in Evanston, Wyo.
He was a member of the Episcopal church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars,
and the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving is his widow of Ogden.
Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a in the mortuary chapel at 529 25th street,
with the Rev. Burton Salter of the Episcopal church of the Good Shepherd officiating.
Interment was In the Ogden city cemetery. - Standard-Examiner News Ogden, Utah.
Robert was a nephew of Mrs. George Smith of Callaway, also the nephew of
Mrs. Etta James of Ludlow, Calif., and Mrs. Kate Brabham and Mrs. Laura Sterner
of Seattle, Wash."

Gladys graduated from Polk High School, married and moved out of state for several years.
She returned in the mid-1950s to be close to her sisters and met and married her late husband,
Marvin Mick.
Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Gene Scow, Shelby, Carol Thorpe of the Kansas City area,
Cindy and Rick Behms, David City; stepson, Howard Mick, Prairie Village,
sister, Maxine Rempe of Shelby, 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

"Lucy Elizabeth "Beth" Pickrel, 81, of Montclair Center, Omaha, Nebraska, died Saturday December 3, 1994, at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha. She was born November 19, 1913, at Nelson, Nebraska, to Harvey and Ruth (Peck) Brubaker.
Mrs. Pickrel graduated from Hastings College. She taught primary grades in Cambridge and Holdrege, Nebraska, and later in Downers Grove, Illinois. In 1942, she was married to Glenn Earl Pickrel, a school administrator. They lived in various places in Nebraska and Illinois, including Mr. Pickrel's term as superintendent of schools in Omaha's District 66 from 1949 to 1957. In 1973, the Pickrels retired from administration and teaching in Downers Grove, Illinois, and moved to Minnesota. They later moved to Hastings. Her husband died in 1990. She moved to the Montclair Center in Omaha a few weeks ago.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hastings, Chapter G of the PEO, and the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include two sons, Paul B. of Omaha, and C. Douglas of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Sheila Sjerven of Willmar, Minnesota; two sisters, Elna Barrett of San Jose, California, and Sheila Shreck of Sun City, Arizona; and two grandsons, Bill Pickrel of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Bryan Pickrel of Omaha.
Funeral services were Wednesday, December 7, 1994, at 1 p.m. from the First Congregational United Church in Hastings with Rev. Robert Dana officiating. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. at Arborville Cemetery in York County, Nebraska. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings was in charge of the arrangements."

a farmer, born in Illinois, living in McPherson Township, Sherman County, Kansas
With him was his wife Lana, born in Kansas. John's age at first marriage was 38;
Lana's was 21. With them were their six children; the youngest two, John and Monty
(Jay Michael), were twins twenty months old.
Baby Johnny would only live a few more months, dying on 29 June 1930. His mother, Lana Fern Hollingshead DeWitt, died 29 September 1930."
" Mildred H. Collins, 81, Colorado Springs, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at Colorado Springs.
Mrs. Collins was born Mildred H. Dewitt on May 18, 1916, in Sherman County, Kan., and was a resident of Colorado Springs for a year, moving from Arvada. She was a homemaker, a retired restaurant owner and operator and a civil service worker in Arvada.
She was preceded in, died by her husband, Arthur Paul, in 1972 and a great-grandson.
Survivors include a son, James M. of Torrance, Calif.; two daughters, Glenna Chaney of Sharon Springs, Kan., and Karen Maestas of Colorado Springs; a brother, Jay Michael Dewitt of San Antonio; two sisters, Pearl Warren of Napa, Idaho, and Merle West of Vancouver, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church, Arvada. Burial will be at Weskan, Kan."
"Jay Michael DeWitt, 80, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Jay will be remembered as a loving and generous father with a firm sense of right and wrong.
Jay was born to John and Lana Fern Hollingshead DeWitt in Kanorado, KS on August 3, 1928. He was raised by Victor and Amy Hollingshead Pickrel in Kanorado, KS.
Jay was preceded in, died by his wife Mary, brother Jim Pickrel, sister Mildred DeWitt Collins, and brothers Arthur, Francis, and Johnny.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Cude; son, Charles DeWitt and his wife Brenda; grandchildren, Meghan Cude, Darren Cude, Sean DeWitt, Brian DeWitt, and Colin DeWitt; sisters, June Sellman, Myrle West, and Pearl Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews."
"June Gail (Pickrel) Sellman, age 94, passed quietly in her sleep on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017.
She is survived by five nieces â€' Corinne Thulin, Marcy Carroll, Elizabeth Johnson, Sharon Pickrel, and Diane DeWitt; three nephews â€' Michael Pickrel, Charles DeWitt and Alan Sellman, as well as several grand nieces and nephews.
She joined her husband of 50 years, Howard (Sam) Sellman, her parents, Victor T. and Amy Hollingshead Pickrel, and her two brothers, James Pickrel and Jay DeWitt.
She also joined her canine companion of recent years, Alphie.
June was born at home in Kanorado, Kan. on Dec. 19, 1922.
After she graduated from high school, she attended college in Kansas until an accident and months of recovery forced her to stop.
At various times she worked as a waitress and an office worker.
During World War II, June followed her father and brother to the west coast to aid in the war effort.
She met her future husband, also from Kanorado, at a soldiers' dance and they married on May 30, 1947.
June and Sam were farmers in the Kanorado area until Sam's retirement in the early 1980s.
June worked part time in the Kanorado post office for many years and then from 1966 until 1984 served as postmaster in Kanorado and in Scott City, Kan.
In a very full life, June played the organ and led the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington, took in a foster son, traveled extensively with her husband and after his, died alone or with friends.
She preferred small river cruises where she met and befriended people from all over the world.
She celebrated happy hour religiously, danced, played golf and bridge (excelling at duplicate bridge), enjoyed operas and concerts, especially the three tenors, plays, especially comedies, read most funny and intelligent mysteries, dabbled in oil painting and grew a spectacular garden.
She has been a devoted friend to many, always ready to help, mentor and laugh, though her friends and family knew she didn't "suffer fools lightly".
She has been that aunt, the one you cannot wait to visit because she loved you so much and was so fun to be around.
June will be missed greatly by many people who are thankful she is peacefully at rest."

"Joy Lee Pickrel, 75, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at her home in Tribune. She had been recovering from an automobile accident that occurred in November 2008.
She was born May 9, 1934, in Goodland, to Leroy and Lloyd Thorp Pickrel.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, she spent many years as an entrepreneur in Chicago and Denver before returning home to Kansas in the 1990s. As a teenager and young woman, she often could be found on the tennis court, swimming, driving or riding horses. She earned her WSI certification and enjoyed many summers teaching swimming to others. Later, she completed her education at the School of Arts Institute of Chicago, where she studied architecture and interior design. She was an ardent fan of jazz, and her favorite song was "Mood Indigo." She enjoyed lively political conversation, and was proud of her Democratic heritage and her membership in the National Organization for Women and League of Women Voters. She also enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and spending afternoons in Tribune with friends at the "coffee clatch round table" at Dixon's Drug Store, and had a strong love of animals, especially the displaced and unwanted ones.
Survivors include a son, Bradley Smith of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Anne Groth of Phoenix; and several cousins. She was preceded in, died by her parents and a half brother, Leroy Pickrel Jr.
Cremation has taken place."
