"Funeral Services for Mrs. Laura Ann Sears, 85, sister of Mrs. Maude Nicholson, 920 Yale, who died in a Pueblo, Colo., nursing home Monday, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ochelata United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. W. E. Bowers will officiate and interment will be directed in the family plot in the Ochelata Cemetery by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service. Her casket escorts will include six nephews.
Mrs. Sears was born on April 29, 1884 in Indian Territory, near Ochelata, the daughter of Almyra and Ruben R. Tyner, pioneer settlers. Mrs. Sears attended the Twin Mounds School and the Friends Mission School at Hillside and later the Female Seminary in Muskogee. She was married to George V. Sears Nov 7, 1910 at Ramona by the Rev. Griffitts, who was founder of the Ramona Friends [Quacker] Church. They remained residents of Washington County and Mr. Sears died in September, 1966. Mrs. Sears had been in failing health for several months and had gone to Pueblo this past summer to be near her daughter and son there.
In addition to her sister of Bartlesville, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert L. Burd, Pueblo, and Mrs. Lee Sturm, Meadville, Mo.; a son, George Victor Sears, also of Pueblo; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren."

"An Eastern Star memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville, for longtime resident Ida Pauline Burd, 87, who passed away July 25, 2006, after a long illness. She was born March 13, 1919, to Albert and Ida LaFrenz in Wyaconda, Mo. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Long Beach. She married Ernie Burd on Dec. 31, 1940, the love of her life, a sailor on the naval ship USS Utah. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with their business, OK Rubber Welders. Family and friends enjoyed her love for cooking. In 1974, she and Ernie retired and moved into their travel trailer that took them on an 18-year fishing trip along the West Coast from Alaska to Mexico with an occasional trip to the Midwest.
They were frequently accompanied by fishing friends and family. With her husband's death in 1996, she settled back into Vacaville and concentrated on her grandchildren's activities. She moved into Summerfield House, then to Paramount Parks where she enjoyed playing nickel bingo and penny poker. She enjoyed a Cribbage challenge and would create new words in Scrabble. She was a fan of the S.F. 49ers, S.F. Giants and Jeff Gordon. She was a 50+ year member of Eastern Star and a charter member of the 911 Club.
She is survived by her son, Ernie Jr. (Kay) of Vacaville; daughter, Judy Greer (Ernest) of Napa and Beverly King (partner, Charlie Rogers); and grandchildren, Justin and Lisa King of Vacaville. She is also survived by her three step-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by brothers, Ormand and Verling LaFrenz; and son-in-law, Lester King Jr. "
