LOST HIS LIFE
Crystal River Railroad engineer Killed Near Carbondale
William Fletcher, a railroad engineer, quite well known along the line of the Denver & Rio Grande railroad, was killed in a wreck on the Crystal River railroad about 5 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Fletcher had just arrived in Carbondale from Salida the evening before and it is presumed was making his initial run on the Crystal road. When about a mile and a half out from Carbondale the engine struck a cow and turned crosswise the track. Fletcher was caught between the tank and engine and crushed. The fireman jumped and he with all others on the train escaped injury. William Fletcher was a single man about thirty years of age and leaves a mother who resides at Salida.

SUDDEN DEATH
Myrtle, the 13-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tho Rabedew, of Minturn, died suddenly yesterday of heart disease. The child had been subject to heart trouble all her life and experienced frequent attacks. Up to the moment of her death she appeared to be in her usual health, however, and had been to a neighbor's across the street on an errand. On returning she dropped dead before reaching her home. The funeral will occur tomorrow with interment at Edwards cemetery.
