Birth Records

Eagle County is able to issue certified copies of birth records for births occurring anywhere in Colorado from 1906 to the present. For births prior to 1906, certified copies can only be issued for births that occurred in Eagle County. All other certificates must be requested either from the county of birth or from the Colorado Department of Public Health. Please note that Colorado is a closed record state meaning that individuals who can provide proof of relationship or tangible interest in a birth certificate are eligible to purchase. Please see the eligibility requirements.

Birth certificates can be obtained by completing an application. The application can then be brought to our office in person or mailed. Please include a copy of your driver's license or passport, payment, and if applicable, proof of relationship. Credit cards are accepted with a 50 cent convenience fee for each application.

Death Records

Eagle County can issue certified copies of death certificates for deaths occurring in Eagle County. Colorado is a closed record state meaning that individuals who can provide proof of relationship or tangible interest in a death certificate are eligible to purchase. Please see the eligibility requirements.  

The cost for death certificates is $20 for the first copy and $13 for additional copies of the same record ordered at the same time.

Marriage Records

Older court case records from 1940 back to 1883 have been transferred to the Colorado State Archives in Denver. You need the file or case number and the box number from the Eagle County Court, in order for the state archives to find the records.
