Lloyd Titterington Dead

Lloyd Titterington died at the Woodcroft hospital in Pueblo last Sunday afternoon. The deceased left Yuma Sunday, October 28, bound for Camp Colt, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, for training in the tank corps. He has had an attack of influenza, and evidently had not fully recovered, as he was ill when he reached camp, and was delirious. Two soldiers were instructed to bring him back to Wray, and they were compelled to strap him to his cot while on the road. He was taken to the Pueblo sanitarium, and died there just two weeks after he left Yuma. The body was taken to Hastings, Iowa, for burial.

Lloyd, Jay Titterington - Obituary

Lloyd Jay Titterington, son of Joseph D. and P.E. Titterington, was born at Henderson, Iowa, September 30, 1881 and died November 10, 1918, at Pueblo, Colo., following a brief attack of Influenza that developed pneumonia.

He enlisted at Wray, Colo., and was sent to Camp Colt, Gettysburg, Penn., where he entered the Tank Service and where he was taken sick and sent back to Colorado on sick furlough.

He was a member in good standing of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah lodges of Yuma, Colo. The greater part of his life was spent in and around Henderson, where he had a host of friends who sincerely mourn his passing. In 1906 he moved to Yuma, Colo., which has since been his home. He is survived by his mother and his sister. Mrs. M.B. Harover of Hastings.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Henderson, conducted by the Christian minister. Interment was made at Henderson.

Lloyd Jay Titterington, age 36, born Sept 30, 1881, registered for the draft in Yuma Co. Sept 12, 1918. At that time his occupation was "traction engineer" and he was working for Chas. McCeran of Yuma. His next of kin was listed as his sister, Anna Josephine Harover, Hastings, Mills Co., Iowa.
Medium height, stout build, blue eyes and dark hair.
