Son of Carl Oscar and Mary Burrows Strom of Yuma.

Memorial services will be conducted for Corporal Carl Arthur Strom on Friday October 9 from the Yuma Methodist Church. Rev. Louis Haruf in charge and the American Legion Post assisting at commitment service at the cemetery.

Carl was born on March 17, 1930 to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Strom at the the farm southeast of Otis. The family later purchased a farm 14 miles southwest of Yuma and it was there he was raised and educated. He was a senior student in the Yuma Union High School at the time of his enlistment in December of 1949. He received his training at Fort Riley, Kansas and was then sent to the west coast where he sailed on May 9, 1950 for occupation service in Japan. After arriving there, his orders were changed and he was sent to the front in Korea on July 12. It is assumed that he was killed on July 19 while defending the city of Taejon, which was lost to the communists. When the city was recaptured his body was found and interred at Toggok Cemetery in Korea.

He is survived by his parents, one brother, Stanley, a student in the Yuma school and a sister, Marguerite Glass of Castro Valley, California.
