Full military last rites were accorded to a comrade by the Lowry Field Air Corps members at the funeral of James Donald Karns, 22, in services conducted here at the Hitchcock Funeral Home on Tuesday morning.
James Karns died in Fitzsimmons Hospital at Denver on October 24 from a serious ailment. He was unmarried and is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James D. Karns, Sr. and two sisters of Weldona.
Burial was at Grandview Cemetery.

Roy James Donald Karns
Roy James Donald Karns, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Karns, formerly of Yuma County, now residing at Weldona, passed away October 24th at Fitzsimons Hospital following an illness of only a few days. Roy was born in Yuma County August 12, 1918. He grew to manhood here and he graduated from Wray High School in 1936. On Sept. 6 of the present year he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and he was assigned to Lowry Field where he remained until he became ill and was removed to Fitzsimons Hospital. Up to the time he enlisted he had been working on the farm for Gus Jesse.
The remain accompanied by the sorrowing parents and sisters, were brought to Wray and funeral services were held at the Catholic Church Tuesday morning. The service was in the nature of a military funeral, the service having been conducted by Chaplain Major Martin of Lowry Field. At Grandview Cemetery where the remains were laid to rest a military salute was fired by soldiers from Lowry Field, who had accompanied the remains to Wray.
Roy is survived by his parents and by two sisters, Mary and Leora, as well as by less near relatives and friends. Roy was a splendid young man and his death brings sadness to many. The sincere sympathy of many friends is extended the bereaved relatives in their hour of great sorrow.
