Eckley Soldier Dies in Battle Against Germans
Sergeant Tom Jones, Reported Missing Last Week, Now Said Killed in Italy

Staff Sergeant Tom Jones, son of A.H. Jones of the Eckley community, who previously had been listed as missing in action, is now reported to have lost his life in battle against the Germans in Italy. His death on June 2, was announced Monday of this week in a message of sympathy sent to the father from the secretary of war.

Sergeant Jones lived in the Eckley community for many years before he entered the armed forces and was associated with his father in farming. Several sisters also reside around Eckley. The young man was well liked and the sympathy of the community goes to relatives of the gallant soldier.
