In 1860 Clinton County, Iowa Martin Dobler, 37, born in France, and Catharine 34 have John M. 24, George W. 13, Catharine C. 10, William 8, Edward 6, Joseph P. 3, and Lewis O. five months.

George W. Dobler married Viola R. Walrod December 7, 1876 in Clinton County, Iowa.

POLLY RAHAMA (Carley), born in Shalorsville, 0., December 27, 1829; married, July  , 1848, Nicholas Walrod, a merchant, who died June 5, 1897. Children :

7600 Lucretia Ann Walrod, born April 3, 1849; married

(1), Sept. 18, 1866, Andrew J. Staggs; married
(2), John J. Huebner, a merchant; two sons by second marriage.

7601 Ellen Eady Walrod, born Jan. 27, 1851 ; married, April 18, 1867, Alden O. Mudge, a dentist ; three children.

7602 Electa Elizabeth Walrod, born Feb. 27, 1853.

7603 Horace Herman Walrod, born Oct. 24, 1854; married Amelia McConnell ; he is a merchant ; one daughter (Lela).

7604 Ruhama Viola Walrod, born July 14, 1858; married Dr. L. E. George, a dentist.
 

There's a George Dobler, 30, laborer, in 1880 Clinton County, Iowa, born in Iowa - father born in France - married to Viola 24, also born in Iowa.

In 1885 Benton County Iowa G.W. Dobler is a merchant, born in Pennsylvania, with Viola.  Next line is Nicholas M. Walrod, 64, also a merchant, born in New York.

George W. Dobler cash-claimed a quarter in 33, 3N 48W in 1891 - about four miles north of Yuma.  Nicholas N. Walrod cash-claimed a quarter in section 35 in 1890, about two miles away.

George W. Dobler cash-claimed a quarter in 3, 1N 48W in 1894 - two miles south of Yuma.  Also in 1894, Nicholas cash-claimed a quarter in 19, 4N 48W - next to a John P. Pesch 1894 cash claim. 

The Clinton Herald Tuesday June 8, 1897 p. 7 N.N. Walrod, a former well-known citizen of Welton township, died at his home in Yuma, Colorado on Saturday morning, aged nearly 77 years. He was born in Onondaga county, N.Y., and came to this county in 1843, and was one of the early territorial pioneers. He removed to Colorado about ten years ago. He leaves three daughters and one son in this state and adjoining States, besides his wife, to mourn his loss.

NICHOLAS N. WALROD, farmer, Sec. 15; P.O. Welton; he belongs to a numerous family of early settlers of Clinton Co; he was born in Chautauqua Co., N. Y., in 1820; his parents removed to Onondaga Co. the same year; to Michigan about 1825, but returned to New York, where his mother died in 1842; his father, Abram Walrod, came to Clinton Co. in the fall of 1842; he settled in Welton Township on the farm now owned by his son, John R. Walrod; he died in August, 1863. Mr. Nicholas N. Walrod came to Clinton Co. from Onondaga Co., N. Y., in the fall of 1843; in 1847, he entered forty acres of the farm of 160 acres which he now owns. He married, in July, 1848, Miss Polly Ruhamy Tyler, daughter of Mr. C. Tyler, a pioneer of Clinton Co.; have had five children, four living-Mrs. Lucretia Huebner (first husband was Andrew Staggs), Mrs. Ellen E.  (Alden Orlando Mudge) Mudge, Horace Herman, born Oct 24, 1854, died Jan 8, 1929., married daughter of Capt. Joseph McConnell, and Mrs. Viola Dobler (Ruhamy Viola, born July 14, 1858, died Dec 5, 1932 - second husband Dr. George) . Mr. Walrod was Justice of the Peace from 1863 to 1869; was also County Supervisor for one term.  Buried Fairmount Cemetery, Denver.

In 1900 Telluride a Horace H. Walrod October 1854 Iowa, a grocer,  is married to Amelia March 1858 Iowa, with son Herbert O. Sanford June 1878 Missouri and wife Lila M. Sanford Dec 1878 Iowa.

Hermon H. Walrod  1854-1929 and Amelia J. March 24, 1858 -Aug 14, 1911 are also buried in Fairmount.


In 1900 Denver "Holly" R. Walrod - Dec 1829 Ohio - is living with Lexiwell George, a druggist, March 1854 Indiana,  and Viola July 1858 Iowa - just married.

Viola R. George 1858-1932 and Dr. L.E. George 1856-1929 are buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Long Beach, California. 82448747

In 1920 Long Beach Lepenud George 63 and Viola 61 have her sister Lucretia Huebner, widowed, 70 living with them.

1900 "H.H. Walrod, who conducted the pickle factory in Denver for some time, has left that city and moved to Telluride, where they will engage in the grocery business.  Mr. and Mrs. Sanford, nee Leia Walrod, accompanied them."

1900 "Mrs. N.N. Walrod and Miss Mary left on No. 1 Monday for their new home in Denver."

October 1912

In 1899 L.E. George, living in Syracuse Nebraska, wrote back to Yuma - wording is such that he had lived in Yuma previously.  He mentions his wife's nieces Lela Walrod and Viola Mudge.
