John J. and Lucretia (Walrod) Huebner
John was the son of Mary M. (Cook/Koch) Huebner and the Rev. J.J. Huebner, a German Methodist minister. In 1861 they settled in Iowa City and Rev Huebner died July 11, 1873. Mrs. Huebner died April 1887 in Youngstown Ohio leaving eight children : Mrs. John Risser, Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. Adam Hucke, Nebraska, F.G. Huebner, Fort Dogdge, Iowa; J. Huebner, Omaha, Nebraska, J.J.Huebner, Yuma Colorado; L.A. Huebner, Iowa; O.M. Huebner, California; and S.T .Huebner Youngstown, Ohio. (Joseph E. Huebner -1851-1918 and Clara M. 1855-1940 are buried in Conifer, Colorado. That must be a brother.).

In 1880 Marengo County, John has a "plumber store" and he and Lucretia have John G. 4.
John timber-claimed a quarter in 2, 6N 49W in 1896.
He proved up a quarter in 34, 3N 48W in 1892 - Yuma County, and in 1890 cash-claimed a quarter in 10, 3N 48W. So John acquired three quarters under three different authorities.
In 1904 Denver John J. Huebner is a grocer, living at 2856 Stout - George G. Huebner, no occupation, is also at that address.
In 1910 Denver John - a hardware clerk - and Lucretia - a medicine salesman- have George G. 30 a shipping clerk in a hardware store, Charles 20 - a clerk in a drug store and his wife Emma T. 26, and mother Ruhama Walrod, 80.
In 1920 Long Beach, California, Lucretia Huebner is living with sister Viola and her husband Leximed George.

| The Clinton Herald Tuesday June 8, 1897 p. 7 N.N. Walrod, a former well-known citizen of Welton township, died at his home in Yuma, Colorado on Saturday morning, aged nearly 77 years. He was born in Onondaga county, N.Y., and came to this county in 1843, and was one of the early territorial pioneers. He removed to Colorado about ten years ago. He leaves three daughters and one son in this state and adjoining States, besides his wife, to mourn his loss. NICHOLAS N. WALROD, farmer, Sec. 15; P.O. Welton; he belongs to a numerous family of early settlers of Clinton Co; he was born in Chautauqua Co., N. Y., in 1820; his parents removed to Onondaga Co. the same year; to Michigan about 1825, but returned to New York, where his mother died in 1842; his father, Abram Walrod, came to Clinton Co. in the fall of 1842; he settled in Welton Township on the farm now owned by his son, John R. Walrod; he died in August, 1863. Mr. Nicholas N. Walrod came to Clinton Co. from Onondaga Co., N. Y., in the fall of 1843; in 1847, he entered forty acres of the farm of 160 acres which he now owns. He married, in July, 1848, Miss Polly R. Tyler, daughter of Mr. C. Tyler, a pioneer of Clinton Co.; have had five children, four living-Mrs. Lucretia Huebner, Mrs. Ellen E. Mudge, Horace H., married daughter of Capt. Joseph McConnell, and Mrs. Viola Dobler. Mr. Walrod was Justice of the Peace from 1863 to 1869; was also County Supervisor for one term. |
