Albia Bertie Knox, born April 13, 1885 in Missouri, died November 1, 1925, buried in Wray # 81579179.
"Albia Knox, pioneer respected farmer living southeast of Wray, died at the Wray hospital last Sunday following
an illness occasioned by his having some teeth pulled, resulting in blood poisonins.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church Sunday, interment being at Grandview.
He was born in Missouri in April 13, 1885, and passed to the great beyond Sunday, November 1, 1925.
He is the oldest of four children of Joseph and Elizabeth Knox, who preceded him in death at an early age. For the
next few years he made his home with his uncle William H. Jones. He came to Colorado at the age of 19 years.
He was united in marriage to Sadie Osmus on December 30, 1909. To them were born two children, Earl and Mary Ellen."
Sadie Knox and George Long married in Kit Carson County on February 10, 1930.
June 1948 "
George Long died Thursday afternoon at his ranch home east of Wray,
after a long illness. He came from Ireland to Hanover, Illinois at the age
of nineteen, where he made his home until 1884 when he moved to Red Oak, Iowa,
then to Essex, Iowa. In 1901 he came to Colorado where he resided till his
death.
George Long, son of John and Sara Long, was born November 22, 1865 at
Ballabay, Ireland, and departed this life at the age of 82.
At the age of 16 he united with the First Presbyterian Church of Ireland;
to this faith he continued faithful in this life.
On February 10, 1930 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Sadie Knox.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife; one daughter Mrs. Georgia Wills;
one granddaughter; two stepchildren, Mrs. Mary Geis and Earl Knox;
one sister, Tishie Crosgroves of Ballabay, Ireland.
His mother and father, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday June 6 at the
Lockwood Mortuary, with the Rev. H. I. Maley officiating at the final rites.
Interment was in Grandview Cemetery."
March 1952 "Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wills and girls, who had made their home on the George Long ranch and for the past six months had had a trailer home at the home of her brother, Earl Knox, left last week for Malvern, la., where they will live on a farm. "
January 1954 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wills and children of Shenandoah, Iowa,
have been visiting Mrs. Wills' mother, Mrs. Sadie Long, her brother, Earl Knox, and sister, Mrs. Harry Geis, since Christmas. "
April 1959 "Funeral services were held at the Corona Baptist Church in Corona, N. Mex., on Saturday for Mrs. Evalina Belzer, who died April 21, 1959, in Pasadena, Calif., after a long illness. Mrs. Belzer was bom in 1881 at Moringo, lowa, and was the daughter of Henry and Sarah Osmus. Her husband, Fred Belzer, and one son Frank preceded her in death. Surviving daughters are Mrs. Beulah Klushman of Altadena, Calif., Mrs. Thelma Freeman of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Evelyn Campbell of Alamogordo, N. Mex. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Long and Miss Estella Osmus of Wray, and two brothers, John Osmus of Greeley and Oliver Osmus of Arvada. Mrs. Long attended the services in Corona and was accompanied by her granddaughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Richards."

July 1925 " J. G. Jones and wife and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Jones of Topeka,
Kansas, who are visiting at the J. G. Jones home, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson,
Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Wilson, Alhia Knox and family, Coll Cumley and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Galen Ingram, Miss Eva Anderson, all of Wray and vicinity,
and Miss Veta Wilson of Deertrail, Colorado, formed a big picnicing party at
Olive Lake Sunday. A fine social time and lots of good eats characterized a happy day for all."
EARL
March 21, 1935 "Miss Blanche L. Cheney and Mr. Earl Knox were united in marriage last Bunday afternoon at the Christian church parsonage with the Rev. Clark Bower officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Knox will make their home in east Wray. Their many friends extend them heartiest congratulations and good wishes."
April 1937 "Shirley Mae Cheney, six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Cheney of Eggers, Colo, and sister of Mrs. Earl Knox of Wray, is dead the result of burns caused by the explosion of a kerosene lamp. Helen Cheney, nine years old, another daughter ifc in a critical condition in the Larimer county hospital. She is suffering from severe burns received in the explosion. The lamp exploded in the Cheney home last Thursday evening. The two injured girls were rushed a distance of 45 miles to the Larimer bounty hospital where they were given treatment. Shirley died Friday, and the condition of Helen remains critical. Mr. and Mrs. James Cheney and children resided in Wray for a number of years and are well known here. They had been living in the Eggers community of late. Mrs. Earl Knox, sister of Shirley and Helen Cheney, was notified of the tragedy last Friday and left at once for Fort Collins. Details of the explosion are not available at this writing. It is said that the Cheney family used kerosene lamps for lighting in their rural home and that the lamp exploded without warning. Friends of the Cheney family in Wray extend the parents and sisters sincere sympathy in their bereavement.
May 1938 "William Cheney, 15 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cheney of near Fort Collins, and brother of Mrs. Earl Knox of Wray, drowned Sunday in a seepage ditch near his home. The drowning was pronounced accidental. The boy was found lying face downward in 16 inches of water. It is said that he was subject to fainting spells. The boy's father stated that his son had gone to inspect some traps that had been set along the ditch and that he had been absent only about one and one-half hours when his lifeless body was found. Funeral services were held in Fort Collins Tuesday afternoon and the remains will rest in the Fort Collins cemetery. The accidental death of Wm. Cheney is the second tragedy that has occurred in the Cheney family in about one year. It will be recalled that Shirley Mae, the five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Cheney v as burned to death March 26, 1938, in the Cheney home in Bennett Creek 'canon. The Cheney family formerly resided in Wray for a number of years prior to 1933 when they moved to a place near Fort Collins. Mr. and Mrs. Cheney, Mrs. Earl Knox and other near relatives who mourn the accidental death of the 15 year old Wm. Cheney, have the sincere sympathy of many Wray friends in their hour of great sorrow."

December 1944 "Mrs. Sarah Osmus and Miss Stella Osmus will have as their guests on Christmas day at dinner Mr. and Mr. Roy Blake and daughter Ida, Mr. and Mrs. George Long and daughter Georgia, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Osmus and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Osmus, Mr. and Mrs. Doty of Greeley, Mr. Henry Willis, Mr. Chris Gurtz, Mrs. Streeter, Mrs. Harry Gies and daughter of Lincoln, Nebr., Mr. Earl Knox, and Miss Esther Osmus of San Francisco, Calif."
January 25, 1945 "Miss Melda Traue and Earl Knox of Wray surprised their friends Tuesday when they went to St. Francis, Kansas, and were married. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Schroeder, Lutheran minister at that place. The couple were attended by Mra. Velma Aughe and Robert Cornish. They will make their home in Wray where Mr. Knox is employed as a mechanic by Wyland's Service station."
Milda was with her widowed father in 1940 Yuma County, 23, born in Kansas. Herman was farming in Yuma County when
registering for WWI, bonr Dec 2, 1881, reference Anna Traue of Wray.
There's an Anna Traue in the St. Joseph, Missouri state hospital in 1940, 49, born in MIssouri.
May 1945 "Mr. Herman Traue, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Traue, was born
Dec. 2, 1881 in Suedenfelde, near Minden, Westfahlia, Germany. In 1899 Mr. Traue
came to America and made his home with relatives, living near Norborne, Mo.
After working eight years as a farm hand he made a trip to Germany.
The next year he returned and settled with his relatives in Yuma County, Colorado.
In 1910 he was united in holy wedlock with Anna Nee Burrie. The couple started
farming for themselves near Scott City, Kan., in 1921. Four years later they
moved to Norborne, Mo., and in 1930 Mr. Traue returned to Colorado and had ever
since made his home in and near Wray. This union was blessed with two children,
Herman, Jr., and Milda.
Herman, Jr., preceded his father in death in 1922.
His daughter Milda is married to Mr. Earl Knox and lives east of Wray.
Mr. Traue had been in failing health since 1930.
After undergoing several major operations he was afflicted with
paralysis agitans. Since Dec. 15, 1942 when he suffered a stroke,
he had been bedfast and remained in this condition until the day of
his death, May 5, 1945.
He leaves to mourn his departure a few close relatives and a
host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 8,
at the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran church.
Rev. M. W. Wilk conducted the service and interment was at Grandview. "
February 24, 1949 " Mr. and Mrs. Earl Knox have a son,
also born on Friday, and they have named him Larry Gene."
June 4, 1953 "Cheryl Ann Knox, 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Knox,
died at the Community hospital early Wednesday morning following a short but
severe illness. Death was attributed to complications from an attack of both measles and chicken pox. Cheryl Ann had completed one term in school. A bright and cheerful child, she was a great favorite of her teachers and schoolmates as well as her family. The Lockwood Mortuary will be in charge of the funeral services. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian Church with Rev. Robert Seals officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview cemetery."
March 1955 "Earl Knox, mechanic for Jim Case Truck and Tractor, has accepted a new position with the International Harvester Co. dealer at Pueblo and began his new duties on March 14. His wife and two sons will join him at the close of the school term."
October 1955 "Mr. and Mrs. John Glass, now living near Glendevey,
were recently married at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Fort Collins with the
ceremony performed by the Rev. Thomas McMann. Mr. Glass,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Glass, is a '53 graduate of the Fort Collins high
school and was recently discharged from the army after service in Germany.
He is now working for Larimer county.
The bride, daughter of Mrs. Blanche Cornish of Fort Collins and Earl Knox of
Pueblo, and a granddaughter of Mrs. Sadie Long of Wray, is the former Joyce Knox."
August 1963 "Mr. and Mrs. Earl Knox of Pueblo, who were here for the funeral of their nephew, Doyle Richards, remained to spend a few days with the former's mother, Mrs. Sadie Long, and other relatives."
Earl is buried in Wray 1911-1996 # 81579273, with Milda Ann 1922-1976.
William Earl Knox, born February 13, 1937 in Wray, died November 5, 2007, residing in Coalmont.
His spouse was Sandra Latham.
"And so it ends, a gentle soul has taken flight and is finally at peace.
Joyce DAnne Glass left this world early November 17, 2015 after 80 years on this earth. Corine, her granddaughter and fulltime caretaker, was at her side as she quietly slipped away from the grasp of the Alzheimer's disease that had taken her memory.
Joyce lived in Fort Collins where she was a homemaker and worked in medical transcription, housekeeping and doting on her grandchildren. She loved the Lord and hosted other senior citizens for worship at her apartment complex in her later years. Her many friends and family will miss her beautiful smile and loving heart. When the Alzheimer's disease made it unsafe for her to live alone any longer she moved to Brush to live with her daughter, Joy, in 2010.
She is survived by her sons; John Jr. (Susan), Michael, James, Daniel, Frederick Sr. (Suzanne), and Joseph. She leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; her sister, Nancy, sisters and brothers-in-law also remain. Many nieces and nephews and friends that she considered family will mourn the passing of this sweet lady.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Blanche Knox; brothers, William and Robert; husband, John Glass, Sr.; daughter, Joy Van Horn; and daughter-in-law, Marcy Glass.
A celebration of her life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 30
at Resurrection Fellowship in Loveland, Colorado."

GEORGIA
August 7, 1947 "Miss Georgia Bernice Long, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Georgo Long, became the bride of Roy Oliver Wills at- Holyoke, Colorado, Tuesday, July 29th. The quiet but impressive single ring ceremony was performed at 3:30 p. m. by Rev. Louis Haruf at the Methodist church in Holyoke and was witnessed by Mr. and Mrs. George Long, parents of the bride and Mr. Henry Wills, uncle of the groom.
The bride was most attractive in a wedding frock of aqua blue with black accessories. The groom wore a suit of navy blue. The newlyweds departed Wednesday evening for Des Moines, lowa, where they will make their home for the present. The bride is a charming young lady who was born and raised in this community. Her winning smile and clever Irish wit has gained for her a wide circle of friends. Georgia has completed her junior year in high school and plans to go on with her high school education in lowa. The groom is the son of Mrs. Raymond Garrett of Sigourney, lowa and grew to young manhood in that state, but has been employed in eastern Colorado for the past several months. The Rattler joins the many friends in extending congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wills."
February 1949 "Mrs. Roy Wills and baby of Sidney, Nebr., are visiting the lady's mother, Mrs. Sadie Long, while Mr. Wills Is on a trip to Sigourney, la. He will be accompanied back by his mother who plans to visit her children in Sidney"
May 1954 "Mrs. Roy Wills of Imogene, Iowa, was a guest of her sister, Mrs. Henry Gies, from Saturday until Wednesday when she was accompanied home by her mother, Mrs. Sadie Long. Mrs. Wills had been a patient at the hospital in Benkelman from the previous Wednesday until Saturday while undergoing dental surgery."
September 1957 "Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wills and daughters of Emerson, Iowa, were Monday guests of the Walter Latoskis."
MARY
September 1, 1932 "Miss Mary Ellen Knox and Mr. Harry LeRoy Gies
were united in marriage Sunday evening, August 28, at the home
of the bride's step father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. George Long.
Rev. Clark Bower of the Wray Christian church was the officiating
clergyman. Rev. Bower used a beautiful ring ceremony.
The bridal pair was attended by Mr. John Walter and Miss Madeline Walter.
The ceremony was performed in the presence of a group of relatives and
close friends. The Long home was tastefully decorated with garden flowers
for the occasion. The bride is a graduate of the Wray high school with
the class of 1931. She is beloved by many friends. The groom is a
respected young farmer of Haigler neighborhood, the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gies. Mr. and Mrs. Gies will be at home to their
friends on a farm near Haigler.
Following the wedding ceremony a wonderful turkey dinner was served.

all of Wray, and Mr. and Mrs. Madison Finch of Idalia."
In 1940 Harry, 28, Mary E. 26, and Alta M. 7, are in Haigler, Nebraska. They had been in Wary in 1935.
December 1944 "Mrs. Mary Geis of Harvard, Nebr., was home on a short leave the last of the week to visit her mother, Mrs. George Long and family, and her daughter Alta Mae."
Mary was born 22 Jan 1914, was issued a Social Security card before 1951 in Nebraska,
, last Residence: Wray, Colorado, dying in December 1982.
Mary is buried in Wray.
"Graveside services for Harry LeRoy Gies, former Wray resident, were held Aug. 30 at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver.
Mr. Gies was born Aug. 20, 1911, in Haigler, Neb., and passed away Aug. 25, 1982, in a Denver nursing home at the age of 71 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Alta Richards of Morgan City, La.; former wife, Mary Gies, of Wray; four grandchildren, Linda Welp of Vernon, Doyle Allen Richards of Benton, Mo., Don Richards of Wray and Francis LeRoy Bowker Richards of Denver; a brother, Ralph Gies of Denver, and a sister, Ailene Dexter of Haigler, Nebraska."

January 1950 " Miss Alta Marie Gies, only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gies, became the bride of Doyle A. Richards of Geneva, Neb.,
on Monday evening, January 9. The ceremony was performed at the Methodist
parsonage at seven o'clock with Rev. K. Orlando Lee officiating at a
double ring ceremony. The bride was dressed in a white winter sharkskin
suit with black and white accessories. She wore a red carnation corsage.
Mr. Gies gave his daughter in marriage. The bridesmaid, Miss Reta McEwen
wore a green satin street dress with black accessories.
Both the groom and his attendant, George Chartier, wore red carnation
boutonnieres in their lapels. The bride's mother was in aqua with black
accessories. Following the ceremony a small reception was held at the
apartment home of the bride's aunt, Mrs. Roy Blake. The bridal couple cut
the wedding cake and others present were the attendants, Miss McEwen
and Mr. Chartier, Mr. and Mrs. Gies, Mr. and Mrs. Blake,
Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Nash of Burlington and Mrs. Nellie Garrett.
Mrs. Richards is a junior in the Laird high school. The groom was a
graduate of the Geneva high schools. Plans are for a home at Geneva."
