In 1850 Juniata County, Pennsylvania, G. Beale is 45, J. 42, E. 18, W. 17, J. 15, M. 13, A. 12, G.H. 10, A. 8, E. 6, and S. 2.

In 1860 LaSalle County, Illinois, George Beale is 58, Jane 53, James 25, Martha 23, Abner 21, George H 18, Hannah A. 17, Edith 15, Samuel C. 12, Mary A. 8, and Hannah 62. All were born in Pennsylvania.

In 1870 LaSalle County, George is still farming, 68, Jane 63, Hannah 72, Adeline 30, Edith 25, Samuel 22, and mary 17.

George 1802-1888 is buried in LaSalle County # 81552816, with Jane (Milliken) Beale 1807-1893, # 81552863.

David T. Evans proved up a quarter in Hamilton County, Nebraska in 1880. (Because Mary was born in Nebraska, this is likely the same one. So David couldn't file for a homestead in Yuma County, but had to pursue a timber claim.)

In 1880 La Salle County, Illinois, David Evans is 33, Edith 35, Mary J. 5 born in Nebraska, and George one month.

In 1885 Hamilton County, Nebraska, D.T. is 37, farming, E.B. 40. Daughter M.J. is 10, son J.G is 5, daughter J.C is 3, and G.L is eleven months.

In 1895 D.A. was a member of the Wray G.A.R. post "C., 47th Pennsylvania"

David timber-claimed a quarter in 20, 2S 44W, about five miles south of Vernon.

In 1900 Yuma County, David, born Sept 1847, married 29 years to Edith B. Jun 1845, both born in Pennsylvania, have George J. April 1880 Illinois, Jessie Aug 1882 Nebraska, and Grover C. Jun 1884 Nebraska.

In 1905 a trainload of stock left Wray for Omaha and St. Joe. Among those who had cattle on the train were L.D. Brown, David Evans, Eli Fisk, Robinson, Mr. Miller and Fred Blake & Son.

In 1910 Cheney, Washington, David 62 and Edith B. 65 are orchard farming. They're still there in 1920, with Grover, 35, single.

David 1847-1922 is buried in Wray, # 63629389. So is Edith B. 1845-1921 # 63629424.
March 30, 1922 "D. T. Evans, one of the few remaining Grand Army men in this neighborhood, answered the final bugle call Sunday, March 26, at the home of his son, J. G. Evans, southwest of town. Mr. Evans became ill only a few days before his death. He was 74 years, six months and six days old.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in this city Tuesday morning at 10 o clock, conducted by Rev. J. C. Strubel, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial took place in Grandview cemetery.

Dave Evans was born Sept. 27, 1847, in Juniata county, Pennsylvania. He was a volunteer in the civil war, having served throughout the war. He was a member of Company O, 47 th Pennsylvania.

He leaves to mourn his departure four children as follows : Mrs. R. Arterburn of Grant, Neb. ; Mrs. Walter Devore of Kirk, Colo. ; J. G. and G. C. Evans, near Wray. He also leaves eight grandchildren, other less near relatives and a host of friends. His wife preceded him to the great beyond several months ago.

Mr. Evans had been a resident of this community for many years. He enjoyed the confidence and respect of his fellowmen generally and was regarded as a good citizen. The Rattler speaks for the entire community in expressing heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family."

MARY
One Ancestral file has Mary Jane Evans born June 1, 1874 in Hamilton County, Nebraska, marrying Rosecrans Arterburn in Perkins County, Nebraska February 17, 1897, dying December 1960 in Perkins County.

In 1900 Perkins County, Nebraska, R. Arterburn born Dec 1862 in Illinois, married 3 years to Mary born June 1874 in Nebraska, have no kids.
They're in Perkins County in 1910, still with no kids. Ro is working in a lumber yard.

August 1916 "Mr. and Mrs. R. 0. Arterburn of Grant, Nebraska, motored down to Wray last Saturday and remained until Monday visiting at the Guy Evans home south of town. Sunday they all went over to Kirk where they spent the day with Mr. and Mrs, Walt Devore. Mrs. Arterburn is a sister of Mr. Evans.

In 1920 he's a bookkeeper for a grain company, and they have Kenton Mark 9 and David Allen 4.

The stone in the Grant, Nebraska cemetery has Mary Jane 1874-1960 # 62001037, and Rosecrans 1863-1939 # 62001052.

David Allen Arterburn was born June 30, 1915 in Grant, Nebraska, dying April 7, 1968 in Amarillo, Texas. - spouse Vivianne Johan Cranwell.
Amarillo, Texas - Services for Vivianne Arterburn Lewis, 84, of Lubbock and formerly of Amarillo will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Amarillo Polk Street United Methodist Church Chapel.
Burial will be in Llano Cemetery under direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.
She died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, in Lubbock.
She was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Phillips County, Colo. She married David Allen Arterburn on Jan. 15, 1939, in Holyoke, Colo. He died April 7, 1968. She married Alf A. Lewis in Amarillo in 1969. He died in August 1994.
She moved to Lubbock in 1995 from Amarillo, where she had lived since 1947. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, David Arterburn of Socorro, N.M., and Dick Arterburn of Graeagle, Calif.; a daughter, Dianne Peeples of Lubbock; a sister, Verna Johnson of Imperial, Neb.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

GROVER

December 1906 "Word reaches Wray this week that Grover Evans and Jim Murray enlisted in the navy last week and Sunday departed for San Francisco where they will enter the training school. Grover goes in as a musician while Jim, so it is said, enlisted to become a coal stroker. Grover went to Denver several months ago to take special training on the clarinet, of which instrument he was becoming proficient, and inducements as a musician in the navy lead him to take the above step. This makes a total of five promising young men from Wray now in the navy, viz, Wayne Bales, Fred Willis, Will Ness, and the two above mentioned."

In 1910 Grover is serving as a musician on the USS California.

February 1911 "The Rattler received an interesting letter from Oscar Pierson, a former Wray boy who was with the Rattler for several years. Oscar has left San Francisco and is now at Camas, Washington, near Portland, Oregon, where he is running the Camas Citizen, having taken charge of the same a week ago last Monday. Oscar says he still has the wander lust, but thinks he will finally settle down, perhaps in Salt Lake. He writes that while in San Francisco he met James Murray and Grover Evans, who had just been discharged from their service in the navy, and that Grover was on his way up to Oregon to visit his parents."

JAMES GUY

1905 " Guy Evans departed Monday, for Wisconsin where he expects to remain this summer "

1907 "Guy Evans, of Oakdale Illinois, is visiting, at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Evans. Mr. Evans for the past two and a half years has been telegraph operator at Oakdale and this is his first trip home in that time."
September 1907 "Guy Evans, who was here for a visit in the spring, arrived in Wray Wednesday. He has had a severe case of blood poisoning, caused by picking a pimple on his face with a brass pin, and has been laid up in a Chicago hospital for some time. He is a son of H. L. Evans and came home to recuperate.

J.G. Evans married Goldie "Filler" in Wray on February 28, 1909. Reverend Moyer performed the ceremony.
"Mr. J. G. Evans and Miss Golda Filler were united in marriage last Sunday evening by Rev. S. B. Moyor, pastor of the Presbyterian church, the ceremony taking place at the Presbyterlan manse.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. W. H. Logan, and came out here a little over a year ago from Missouri with Mr. and Mrs. Logan. While she is not well known to our people, yet those who have made her acquaintance are congratulating Guy on his choice of a life partner.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Evans, and is well and favorably known in this community. Guy has rented his father's farm and will operate it during his parents' absence in Washington."

Golda was in Nodaway County, Missouri in 1900, stepdaughter of William H. Logan Aug 1867 and Ethel Aug 1870, both born in Illinois.
Effie (Shroyer) Logan 1870-1923 was the daughter of Charles P. Shroyer and Lovina West - the informant on her death certificate was Mrs. Guy Evans of Hale Missouri ?
In 1880 Nodaway County, Missouri, Charles B. is 35, Lovina B. 33, Claria A. 14, John R. 13, Effie 10, Charles W. 8, Laura 3, and Anna 2.
Charles and Lovina were farming in Yuma County in 1900, with John R. and his wife. Charles W. is on the same page, with his wife of four years.

She's buried in Nodaway County # 108050032.

In 1910 Yuma County, Guy is farming 30, with Goldie M. 20.

In 1911 Mrs. William Logan of the "sandhills" had a birthday party, and Guy Evans participated in the horseshoe conteest>.

1913 "Mr. and Mrs. Guy Evans of south of town, left Sunday evening for Grant, Nebraska, where they will spend a week or two visiting the former s relatives."
1914 "A number of our citizens attended tho sale of William Logan on the 9 th. Mr. Logan leaves for Iowa in a few days."

August 31, 1916 "A baby girl weighing eight pounds, arrived at the home of Mr, nnd Mrs. Guy Evans, south of town, last Tuesday morning, This is the first born, and to say the young parents are more than proud, and deservedly so, is expressing it mildly. Since the arrival of the little girl, Guy has taken his suspenders up another notch and will campaign for the office of county treasurer harder than ever."

1917 "Guy Evans left this morning for Denver where he goes to attend to business in connection with the Farmers Equity Union."

In 1920 Yuma County, James G. is farming, 38, with Golda M. 29 born in Missouri. Opal 3 and William V. six months were born in Colorado.

Opal Edith Evans joined the Wray Presbyterian Church in 1925, with David William, James Guy, and Golda Mae.

In 1930 they're still farming, with the two kids.

In 1937 Wray, J.G. and Goldie live on West 7th, and he's the postmaster. Children are Opal and David.

Decembeer 28, 1939

In 1940 Wray, James is the post master, with Goldie 50. Opal is 24, a pharmacist.

December 20, 1951 "Mrs. Phil Donelson accompanied her mother, Mrs. J.G. Evans of Wray to Denver last week to attend the funeral of Frank Shroyer, uncle of Mrs. Evans."

In 1954 Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Donelson went to Denver to join Dr. and Mrs. Gilbert Good. The Gardner boys, Paul and John, stayed with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Gardner, and Jeri and Dora Donellson we cared for by Mrs. Donelson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Evans of Wray."
(John Gardner's son Cory was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016.)

Between David and Edith the cemetery records show William David Evans 1919-1939, and an empty space.

Opal E. Donelson, 87, of Greeley died Friday, Feb. 13, at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit in Greeley.

She was born Aug. 29, 1916, to James Guy and Goldie (Filler) Evans in Wray, where she attended elementary and high school. At the age of 17, she moved to Denver to attend and graduate from the Denver School of Pharmacy.

On Oct. 13, 1943, she married Phillip Neil Donelson in Stark, Fla., where he was stationed in the Army. After World War II, they returned to Yuma, where they owned and operated The Donelson Co., an electrical business.

Mrs. Donelson belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, PEO, the International Order of Odd Fellows, and the Presbyterian Church in Yuma. She loved bridge club, luncheon club and time with friends. She also enjoyed a part-time job at the Rexall Drug Store in Yuma after her daughters were grown.

In 1990, Mrs. Donelson moved to Greeley to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a volunteer at North Colorado Medical Center until her health failed.

Survivors are twin daughters, Jeri Lynn Telford and husband Ron and Deri Lee Armagost; seven grandchildren, Alison Murphy, Phillip Murphy, Shawna Gallegos, Merv Armagost, Ivy Armagost, Jennifer Armagost and Billy O'Rear; and five great-grandchildren.

Her parents, her husband and a brother, David, are deceased.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Yuma. Interment will be in the Yuma Cemetery."

JESSIE

In 1900 Glendale precinct (now Vernon, Yuma County) Walter D. Devore born Aug 1875 and sister Mattie E. June 1879 are with mother Eliza Renshaw March 1845 Ohio. Probably the Benjamin F. Devore on the same page, born Nov 1856 in Ilinois iwth wife and two daughters is a brother-in-law.

August 24, 1900 "A quiet wedding took place last Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian parsonage. Mr. D. Walter DeVore of Vernon and Miss Jessie Evans of Wray wore married by Rev. J. L. Cameron. The bride was attired in a charming costume of white satin and was attended by Miss Hattie C. DeVore. The Pioneer wishes them many years of wedded happiness."

February 1908 Wray " Eads Lehman was over from Idalia Tuesday on business. He reports that Idalia has organized a band and at present has fifteen members. Walt DeVore, who has a homestead in the vicinity of Idalia, is to be the instructor. "

August 1918 "Mrs. Walter Devore, of the Joes neighborhood, left for the east Saturday, for a short visit with relatives and friends."

In 1920 Yuma County, Daniel W. Devore is farming, 44, born in Illinois, with Jessie E. 37 Nebraska. Paul S. is 17, Phyllis M. 15, Edith J. 11, and Walter R. 8, all four born in Colorado.

In 1930 they're in Santa Clara, California, where Walter D. is a laborer. Paul is 27, Roland 22, Barbara Edith J. 21, and mother Eliza Price 88, born in Ohio.

August 7, 1934 "Died, in San Jose, August 5, Mattie A. Goodyear, wife of Matthew F. Goodyear, sister of Walter DeVore, a native of Illinois, aged 58 years. a Friends are invited to attend the funeral Wednesday, August 8, 1934, at 1:30 o'clock p.m. from the "Funeral Home" of Curry & Gripenstraw, 48-50 North Third Street. Interment private. Chapel of Roses, Oak Hill Memorial Park. "

Paul Wesley Devore, born June 7, 1902 in Colorado, died March 26, 1988 in Santa Clara County.

Phyllis Mattie Brownwood, born July 27, 1904 in Colorado, died in Solano County January 27, 1987.

Edith June Phelps, born June 13, 1908, died May 11, 1993 in Contra Costa County.
Her husband Francis A. "Bert" Phelps, born Dec 10, 1904 in Nebraska, died July 29, 1971 in San Francisco.
