October 18, 1917 "Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carson of ten miles north of Wray, disposed of their farm Saturday to Eli Oleson, of Nebraska. This is a 320 acre tract and was sold for $4,500. Mr. and Mrs. Carson give possession in two weeks and are planning to move to Minneapolis, Minnesota, their former home before coming to Colorado. Their son, James, and family, located in Minnesota, near Minneapolis, about a year ago."

Frank, a carpenter, and Melissa are alone in 1920 and 1930 Middleton, Washington County, Oregon.

July 22, 1910 Wray "A marriage license was granted by County Clerk Abbott last Saturday, July 16, to Art Sherbet of Benkelman and Miss Delia Carson, who lives north of Wray."

July 29, 1910 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carson's daughter, who married Art Sherbet will live at Benkelman. May happiness and prosperity be their lot."

August 1912 "Arthur Sherbert came up from Benkelman, Nebraska, Saturday and filed on a homestead near the Carsons several miles northwest. Mr. Sherbert is a brother of Mrs. Ed Porter who formerly lived here."

August 21, 1913 "Mrs. Arthur Sherbet and little son, Lowell, returned Saturday from a month's visit with Mr. Sherbets mother in Benkelman, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Sherbet have a homestead several miles north of Wray."

Della (Carson) (Sherbert) Accomazzo 1887-1992 is buried in Arizona
Russell Lowell Sherbert was born April 12, 1911 in Nebraska to Arthur Sherbert and Della Carson, dying Sept 15, 1958 in Casa Grande, Arizona.
He married Marjorie Jane Harbridge (born Aug 17, 1917 at Cantril, Iowa) on December 21, 1940.

Emeline A. McEvoy 1874-1913 is buried in Benkelman # 75516546, with John F. McEvoy 1871-1941.
Their daughter born in Colorado Erma Mae (McEvoy) Stamm is buried in Benkelman # 75555884.

John Francis McEvoy, son of John and Ann McEvoy, was born at Keysville, New York, January 14, 1871 and died May 1, 1941. As an infant he moved with his parents to Ogdensburg, New York, where he grew up and attended school. Then in late fall of 1885, he with his mother and sister, joined his father in Benkelman. His father had taken up land and a tree claim. The family lived there for several years. Then in 1893 John F. McEvoy married Emmeline Sherbert, who died in 1913. To this union seven children were born, Edna, who died in 1920, Erma Stamm, John M. and Leo McEvoy of Benkelman, Ann Jokerst of Norton, Kansas; Emmeline Pitner of Stratton, Nebraska and Willie, who died at the age of three years. He has lilved on the farm three and a half miles southwest of Benkelman all these years. In 1930 he married Gertrude VanBuskirk, who cared for him in his last illness. He had been in poor health for almost three years. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Gertrude; two sons, John and Leo; three daughters, Erma, Ann and Emmeline and one sister, Lizzie McEvoy. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, May 3, at St. Joseph's Catholic church, by Rev. Father Kolar. The pall bearers were P. E. O'Brien, J. Reining, P. R. Wakefield, J. A. McDonald, T. J. November 12, 1909 "Fred Carson, who has been out on his claim north of town for sometime, went up to Fort Morgan, Tuesday morning."

June 18, 1914 "Fred Carson returned to Wray this week, accompanied oy his bride. His friends extend hearty congratulations."

Fred C. Carson and Ethel Nichols married on June 2, 1914, recorded in Arapahoe County.

Fred proved up 320 acres in sections 14 and 23, 4 North 44 West,, some in 1913, and some in 1916.

May 1, 1919 "The case in which Fred Carson was charged with larceny as bailee, was retired "

Fred A. Carson, 20, son of Frank Carson and Melissa Hershey, married Beulah Doss on Sept 23, 1905 in Polk County, Iowa.

Beulah M. Doss is divorced in 1910 Des Moines, 22, step-daughter. She's probably the daughter of Jessie and Katheryn Keith.
Beulah Doss, 24, born in Clark County, Iowa, married Harry Sheibley on May 4, 1912 in Polk County.
Harry is divorced in 1920 Polk County.

Beulah (Doss) O'Keefe 1888-1964 is buried in Lake County, Illinois # 103130921.

In 1920 Portland, Oregon, Fred is a carpenter, 34, with Ruth 19 born in Missouri. Bernice 2 was born in COlorado.

Ruth A. Shaw and Fred A. Carson had Donald Dean Carson on May 25, 1924 in Glendale, California. He died Sept 4, 2006.

Fred is in Los Angeles in 1930, 44, now married to Elma 30 Missouri. Bernice 12 was born in Colorado, Junior 7 and Donald 5 in California.

In 1940 Los Angeles, Fred and Ruth have Fred A. 17 and Donald 15.

Lois Bernice Mays is married to Melvin Gilbert Mays, 28, in 1940 Los Angeles.

They had Linda Sue Mays on July 3, 1945 in Dallas, Texas.

She's buried in Fresno 1917-2014 # 124648131 "Lois Bernice Mays, 96, of Fresno died Friday. She was a head cook at Fresno City College. Remembrances: Northpark Community Church, 2297 E. Shepherd Ave., Fresno, CA 93720 or Central Community Church, 4710 N. Polk Ave., Fresno, CA 93722. Arrangements: Stephens & Bean Chapel."

EVERETT

January 30, 1913 "At Hymens Altar Last Saturday afternoon, County Judge Jennings performed the ceremony that united two of our popular young people in the bonds of matrimony. The contracting parties were Mr. Everet R. Carson and Miss Charlotte Hitchcock. Mr. Carson is one of our young farmers north of town and Miss Hitchcock is one of our successful schooi teachers. They will mako thoir home on their farm north of town where they each have a homestead, Mr. Carson making final proof on his a short time ago. The Rattler joins with their many friends in extending congratulations to this young couple."

On July 27, 1916 Charlotte applied for a claim in 27, 4N 44W, witnesses William A. Niehaus, George Oestman, Lilly Schelly, and Frank R. Carson, all of Wray.

Everett proved up a quarter in section 23, 5 North 44 West, in 1913.

February 1917 "The James and Everett Carson families, north of town, are making arrangements to leave Yuma county and will locate on farms near Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are making the change on account of the health of Mrs. James Carson, who is thought, will be benefitted by the different climate. They are intending to sell their farm, but Mr. and Mrs. Everett Carson have leased their land to Jack Wilkins."

Everett Robert Carson 1888-1917 is buried in Wray # 17083170, with Charlotte (Hitchcock) Carson 1887-1965 buried in Newberg, Oregon.
May 24, 1917 "Everett Carson, who left with his wife and babies a few weeks ago for their new homes in Minnesota, was drowned the first of the week. As to how the accident happened is not yet known, but the remains accompanied by the sorrowing wife and children are expected to arrive today, after which funeral arrangements will he made. Everett is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Carson, and practically grew to manhood here. He was married about four years ago to Miss Lottie Hitchcock, sister of Sheriff Hitchcock. A few months ago they decided to remove to Minnesota to make their home, and it was in their new home that he was overtaken with the distressing accident that cost his life. The sorrowing relatives and friends of the family have the sympathy of all in their deep bereavement."
July 12, 1917 "Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carson, Mrs. Charlotte Carson and the sisters and brothers of the late Everett Carson, who was drowned recently in Minnesota, take this means of extending their profound thanks to the many kind friends and neighbors who aided and befriended them in their sorrow, and extended words of consolation in their grief. Your sympathetic assistance will ever be a valued remembrance to them."

Charlotte was the administratrix of the estate of Everett R. Carson Deceased in 1917.

Paul Leroy Carson was born November 14, 1915 in Wray to Everette Carson and Charlotte E. Hitchcock.

In 1930 Yamhill County, Oregon, Charlotte is 42, Robert 16, Paul L. 14, and Eerett D. 12.

All four are in Yamhil County in 1940, with a lodger Shell C. Hitchcock 44 born in Colorado.
Shell Clarence Hitchcock, a corporal in the 78th Balloon Company, 1895-1962 is burieed in Wilamette National # 794881.

Everett R. Carson 32 and Bessie L. 26 had Ward L. Carson 5 in 1910 Montgomery County, Iowa.

JAMES

James B. Carson and Erma C. Hitchcock married in Yuma County on April 12, 1913.

James B. proved up 320 acres in section 31, 4 North 44 West, in 1916.

In 1920 Middleton precinct, Washington County, Oregon, James B. Carson is a carpenter, 28, with Erma 28, Oleva 5, Alfred Jr. 4 - these three born in Colorado, Everett R. 2 and Helen 1 born in Oregon.

In 1930 Middleton, James B. and Erma have Oleva M. 16, Alfred J. 14, Russel E. 11, Helen M. 10, Jack E. 7, Thelma J. 1, and newborn Glen L.

"A funeral for Erma C. Carson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church in Sherwood. She died Saturday, November 9, 1990, in a Tigard care center of causes related to age. She was 99.
Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens. # 63567287.
Mrs. Carson was born March 19, 1891, in Wray, Colo. Her maiden name was Hitchcock. She grew up in Wray and married James B. Carson in 1913. She moved to Sherwood in 1917 and had worked at the cannery.
Mr. Carson died previously.
Surviving are her sons, Fred of Sherwood, Russ and Jack, both of Portland, and Glenn of Vancouver, Wash.; daughters, Oleva Thiel and Helen Parrott, both of Sherwood, and Thelma Langston of Grants Pass; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. "

Alfred James Carson 1915-1993 is buried in Portland # 92479556.

Thelma J. (Carson) Webb is buried in Grants Pass, Oregon # 86887911.
"Thelma June Webb, 79, of Grants Pass died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, with Marvin Clark, pastor, officiating. Contributions may be made to the Gospel Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 190, Grants Pass, OR 97528; or to Parkinson's Resources of Oregon, 1015 N.W. 22nd Ave., Portland, OR 97210; or to a charity of the donor's choice. Webb was born June 3, 1928, in Newberg to Frank and Erma Carson. She lived in Sherwood and graduated from Sherwood High School. In 1964, she moved to Grants Pass from Sherwood. She worked as an office manager and coordinated overseas delivery of Mercedes and Volvos for Auto Martin for 19 years. She also worked for Sigel Chevrolet for several years before retiring in 1992. In 1994, in Reno, she married Dick Webb, who survives. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and training horses and riders. She also enjoyed fishing, traveling by RV and overseas travel. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Christine Langston of Portland; four sons, David Webb of Battleground, Wash., Darrell and Rick Webb, both of Grants Pass, and Dan Webb of Jacksonville; two brothers, Glenn Carson of Vancouver, Wash., and Russ Carson of Portland; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. "

"Russell Lowell (Sherb) Sherbert was born April 12, 1911 in Benkelman, Dundy, Nebraska. He was the only child of Arthur Nelson Sherbert and Anna Della Carson Sherbert. He graduated from Benkelman High School, class of 1929, and later attended Chillicothe Business College. He loved music and was the First Trumpet in high school and the town bands. His early employment included working for his father, who owned a butcher shop. Subsequently, he became the city of Benkelman Financial Clerk. He later owned and operated Sherbert Produce, which marketed local farm products of cream, eggs, chickens and cow hides. He married Marjorie Jane Harbidge in December 21, 1940. They had two sons and one daughter, Mark Thomas (Margaret Laverne Killingsworth), Susan Jane Oakley (Ed) and John Charles (Sharon Fisher). The family moved from Benkelman to Casa Grande, Pinal, Arizona in 1957, where he worked for the Department of Agriculture and Marjorie taught in the local elementary school system. He passed away in Casa Grande on September 15, 1958 and was interred in Mountain View Cemetery, Casa Grande, Arizona."
