BARNARD BRADY. Within the confines or Belmont Precinct, and in the southwestern part of section 24, is located the farm of this gentleman, which embraces 160 acres of land, and has been brought to a good state of cultivation. One of its most attractive features is the handsome and substantial residence, while a good barn and all the other necessary out-buildings, with fruit and shade trees, form a most attractive background. Mr. Brady has been thorough and successful as an agriculturist, and is a man of good business capacities. As a citizen he is esteemed as one of the most valued members of his community.

Our subject was born at Port George in British America, Aug. 17, 1830, and is the son of Antwin and Mary (Riley) Brady, who were natives of Ireland, and the former a British soldier in the War of 1812. Later he went to Ireland, and there the subject of this sketch spent a portion of his boyhood. His parents died in Ireland, and Barnard then returned to British America with relatives, and came to this county in August of 1854, while Nebraska was a Territory.
He took up a claim that same year opposite St. Joseph in Kansas, but the border war coming on he was forced to flee, and found refuge in Macon County, Mo., until the troubles were over.
Mr. Brady in the spring of 1863 returned to this county during the progress of the Civil War, but in the meantime had served as a Confederate soldier in Company I, 4th Missouri Infantry. He located permanently on his present farm in September, 1870, and is now the owner of one of the most desirable estates in this part of the county.
Our subject was married, in May, 1870, to Mrs. Sarah Nestor, widow of George W. Nestor. and daughter of Dudley and Kerby Abbott. Mrs. Brady was born Oct. 9, 1843, in Missouri. Her parents were natives of Ohio, and their household consisted of fourteen children. Of her union with our subject there have been born five children, four of whom are living, namely: Thomas H., John D., Edward W. and Andrew J. The eldest is sixteen years of age and the youngest nine. Of the first marriage of Mrs. Brady there had been born two children. both daughters, Caroline and Martha, who are living in Oregon and married. Mr. Brady, politically, is a Democrat, and socially, in 1883 identified himself with the Masonic fraternity.

Bernard Brady died in 1893, and is buried in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

One tree said Timothy Burns was born Aug 10, 1848 in Carlo County, Ireland, and married Martha Frances Nestor Jan 13, 1884 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. It also said her sister Georgia Caroline Nestor, born April 30, 1864 in Linn County Missouri, married James Lawrence Brady November 1883 in Nebraska City. (That doesn't match Sarah's obituary)

1916 "Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Brady came up from their hom in Haigler, Nebraska Sunday and remained over until Monday evening with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Brady of west of Wray."
June 22, 1906 "Patrick Brady, an aged resident, was buried at Glendale last Sunday. A number of Vernon people attended and later were at divine services in Glendale school-house." This is James Patrick Brady 1839-1906, per # 80213909.

1913 Vernon items "Mrs. G.C. Brady is building a new house. James Crandall is doing the work."
1913 "The construction of the phone line from Mrs. G. C. Brady's southwest of Vernon to Lincoln Valley and southwest of Happyville was completed a few days ago."

June 15, 1901 "Lawrence Brady died Tuesday morning and was buried Wednesday at Glendale Cemetary (sic) by the Woodmen." FindaGrave # 75792493 says this is James Lawrence, born 1862 in New York, son of James Lawrence Brady, spouse of Georgia.

Mary married Charles Weaver, and had three chldren- Fred, Todd and Lola. When Charlie died in 1936, she went back to teaching.
In 1940 Mary is widowed, living with brother Ernest in Vernon. Georgia, 75, widowed, born in Missouri, is also with them. Martha Fulton, Georgia's sister, born about 1847 in Missouri, is also with them. In 1860 Martha is one of ten kids of W.D. and M.H. Abbott in Linn County Missouri. In 1910 Boulder County, William Fulton is a gold miner 69 married 42 years to Mattie, 63, both born in Missouri.
Mattie, 73, is widowed in 1920, living with brother Hubbard H. Abbott in Del Norte, Colorado.
Hubbard -1840-1921 is buried in Monte Vista, Colorado # 25790406. Dr. Abbott was born in Macon County MO. He graduated from the State Normal, Kirksville, and studied medicine at American Medical College. Began practice in Mercyville MO 1875. Married Mrs Laura Gates Gilbreath 24 Feb 1882 who died in 1914. Practiced in Atlanta MO and was president of Macon Bank. To Monte Vista CO where he founded 1st National Bank in 1911, entered Abbott-Gooding Drug Company and was Mayor 1907-8. Leaves mother aged 98, four brothers and two sisters and a stepson. Services in Monte Vista. (This information from The Browning Leader-Record, Browning MO, issue Jan 13, 1921.

Aloysious proved up two quarters in 27 and 28, 2S 46W in 1916.

"The Vernon doctor was called last Sunday to see Mrs. Wm. Dunn, who was quite sick at Al Brady's. They removed her to the home of Roy Upp to be cared for.

Aloysious Lawrence Brady registered for WWI with a Happyville address, farming, born October 15, 1885, wife Mary Amanda Brady.

In 1930 Ravenna, Ohio, Frank Creque is a moulder for a sad-iron company, 35, with Helen 21 born in Colorado. Coraline is ten months old, Frank is 2.
Frank and Helen are in Denver in 1940, with Francis 12, Caroline 10, Robert 8, Donald 6, Melvin 5, Raymond 4, and Charles 1.

Frank Clarence Creque, born Nov 2, 1928, to Frank Creque and Helen Brady, married Tressa DeWeese in Summit COunty Ohio Sept 4, 1956.

The Ancestry tree says Malvern DeWayne Magruder was born Sept 18, 1882 in Bentonville, Benton County Arkansas, and died March 1, 1940 in Simla , Elbert County, Colorado. Parents Samuel 16707830 and Amanda 22710024 (her obit names son M.D. of Denver) "When a young man, Malvern Magruder fell off a freight train and had one leg severed. The brakeman found him and took him to a doctor; he had to use an artificial leg. While his sister, Ada, was living in Rogers, Arkansas, Malvern visited her, and it was there that he met his first wife, Della Cooper. They were divorced around 1924, in Brighton, Adams County, Colorado. Malvern Magruder was a grocer and butcher by trade. He was living in Simla, Elbert County, Colorado, at the time of the 1930 census."
There's also a Malvern D. Magruder at the Colorado State Hospital in 1930, age 47, born in Arkansas.
Malvern DeWayne Magruder 1882-1940 is buried in Simla.
Mary Magruder is in 1940 Elbert County, 50, born in South Dakota, with son William Magruder 6, born in Colorado. Mary M. Magruder 1889-1973 is buried in Littleton, # 8093386. Because the owner of the plot is Robert J. Brady, that has to be ours.
William J. Magruder, born May 29, 1933, lives in Wray (2015).
In 1940 San Diego, Della Weiss, widowed, 56, born in Arkansas, is with Robert McGruder 29, Oklahoma and William McGruder 19 Colorado. All three were in Denver in 1935. Robert is a counter-man at a motor hardware store.
The Ancestry trees say she died in 1966 in Denver, and is buried in Fairmount.

Funeral services for Robert Edward Creque, 79 of Tipton who died Monday, October 24, 2011 will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with Pastor Ronald Lashmit officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 4-7 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory.
Robert was born October 27, 1931 in Stratton, Colorado. He was the son of Frank Clarence and Helen Marcella Brady Creque. Robert served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He was united in marriage to Delores M. Pace on November 24, 1951 in Tipton, Iowa.
Robert was a past member of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed coaching baseball. He was employed as an independent truck driver, retiring in 1994.
Robert is loved and survived by his wife, Delores Creque of Tipton, Iowa; daughters, DeAnna and Rhonda Creque both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren; Shani and Tera Creque and Nathan Hubler and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren Mia, Sarah and Rachel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Mark and Rod; brothers, Frank, Jr., Donald, Melvin, Raymond and Charles; and a sister, Caroline.

Robert F Brady, Katherine Brady and George R. Brady are buried next to each other in the Brady family lot at the north end of Range 9 West of Vernon's Glendale Cemetery. Robert's brother, James Lawrence, and his family share the same lot.

"Father and son committed suicide together as a means to end their suffering from an illness on March 25, 1936."
Katherine's year of birth may be 1874. There is some confusion in my sources. Robert and George died on March 25, 1936. (You had Mar 26.) Leo "Lee" A. Brady remained in the Vernon area for several years but left the area later when he quit farming

Leo died in Englewood, Colorado January 13, 1990 and was buried in Glendale Cemetery, Vernon, Colorado.
1923 "A wedding of interest to a number of our readers occurred last Thursday when Miss Marcella Brady became the bride of Mr. Clasence (sic) Wise. Both Mr. and Mrs. Wise are well known young people of Vernon and have a large circle of friends who are wishing them much happines."
