Levi Butcher was born in Monroe County, Iowa, Feb 17, 1851. Died in Monroe county Iowa, Oct 19, 1907; age 56 years, 7 months and 21 days. He was married to Cordilia Plummer April 14, 1872 who died Oct 8, 1881. To this union were born 5 children; two boys and three girls, Delmer Butcher, of Melrose, Iowa, George Butcher of Yuma Colorado, Mrs. Dora Flora and Mrs. Nora Harter of Hebon Nebraska, and Mrs. Jennie Barnes of Melrose, Iowa. He was again married to Nancy E. Bredwell April 16, 1882. To this union were born ten children five boys and five girls; five of these having died in infancy, three girls and two boys. The remaining five, Bertha, Leroy, Leo, Ina and Ora who with their mother and three sisters are left to mourn their loss. One of the five dying in infancy would be "Butcher Bessie M Mar 25 1896 3y 11m 12d Dau Of L & N E." buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. When Zeina Dell (Butcher) Palmer died in 1945 in Marion County, Iowa, her survivors were Leroy Butcher of Lovilia, Leo of South Gate, California, Ora of Otis Colorado, Mrs. John Flora of Algona Iowa, and Mrs. Alva Barnes of Des Moines. 1940 Algona Iowa "Mrs. Jennie Barnes, Des Moines, arrived Saturday for ten days at her sister Mrs. John Flora's." John Flora moved to Lovilia, IA to find work. He met and married Dora Butcher in 1895. They had 3 children Mina, Nola, and Orval. 1937 "The Orville Flora family who lived on the Frank Derner farm, moved his stock and household goods to five miles southwest of Laurens, Saturday." May 24, 1949 "Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sweeden, Foreston, Minnesota, formerly St. Benedict, visited the Jack Kutch-aras Monday night last week. They came down to attend the funeral of Mrs. Sweedon's brother Orville Flora 50, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his r\ m t ^c Laurens with burial at Clark, S. D. The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Flora." Orville is buried in Clark County # 133772325. "John and Dora Flora's only son, Orval, married Berenice Johnson on Dec. 29, 1925. The hot winds and grasshoppers came, there was no rain, and the soil started to blow. Crops were not raised, so the Flora families, John and Orval, decided to make a move in the spring of 1931. They settled in Bancroft, Iowa in Kossuth County. In the spring of 1935 Orval and family left the partnership and moved to Whittimore, Iowa. Orval and family moved to a farm in Palo Alto County at Laurens, Iowa, in the spring of 1939. A few years later they moved to Marshall County also near Laurens, Iowa. Crops were good, Orval raised Hereford cattle and many hogs. " John 1872-1954 and Dora 1876-1951 are both buried in Clark # 137892803. One post said that Mary Butcher married August Nedderman. This would be a niece of Levi. Mrs. Mary Nederman, Mrs. Jan Edwards, and Mrs. Catherine Streiff were sisters.
