Austin R. and Holly Jane (Miller) Edwards
, Eckley
In 1900 Bourbon County, Kansas, Austin Edwards born May 1853, married 25 years to Holly J. June 1854, have John W. Oct 1876, Margaret J. Sept 1878, Ruben C. Aug 1880, David E. April 1883, Myrtle B. Sept 1885, Gracie M. Oct 1887, Ernest E. June 1891, and Bird A. Sept 1895.
In 1910 Yuma County, Austin R. Edwards is 56, Holly 55, married 36 years, with John A 23, Ernest E. 18, and Bird A. 15, all born in Illinois.
(They're listed after newlyweds Albert and Cynthia Monk - my grandparents - mdm.)
Austin proved up a quarter in 10, 4N 46W in 1915, about fourteen miles north of Eckley. This was near the Herbaugh claims.
David E. Edwards proved up 320 acres in 13 and 14, 4N 46W in 1916, and Ernest proved up two quarters in 24, 4N 46W in 1919.
Austin 1853-1919 is buried in Eckley.
Holly Jane (Miller) Edwards 1854-1926 is also buried in Eckley, #47616506.
JOHN
April 15, 1943 "Chas. Brower received word of the death of John Edwards in a hospital in Denver Saturday. Mr. Edwards was well known in this community (Pleasant Valley) having lived here most of his life until the last five years. He ws about 67 years of age and homesteaded the farm where Farnk Dilka now lives. It could not be learned if the burial would be in Denver or in the family plot at Eckley."
John Wesley Edwards never married, and is buried in Denver Fairmont 1876-1943 # 76869699.
MYRTLE
(Myrtle Belle Flower 1885-1949 is buried in Santa Barbara California # 87087911.)
She was born in Illinois Sept 19, 1885 to father Edwards and mother Miller, dying May 19, 1949 in VBentura County.
In 1940 Santa Barbara she's widowed, and daughter Cara Triggs 23 and two kids are living with her.
MARGARET
Margaret Jane Edwards, daughter of Austin Ruyle Edwards and Holly Jane Miller,married Charles Herbert Ewing, son of John Wesley Ewing and Lydia Ellen Gear 17 December 1902, Garland, Bourbon Co., KS. To this marriage were born: Leta, Zella Eathel, Chester Shelby, John Clyde, Gilbert and Triplets.
Margaret 1878-1917 is buried in Wray,, #63629753.
BIRD
In 1910 "Mrs. B.P. Edwards has been called to the bedside of her
father, who is very low."
1910 "Miss Edith Edwards of Chicago, secretary of Illinois State Board of
Fire Underwriters is spending her vacation here with her brother B.P. Edwards."
In 1914 Seborn "of Ford, Colorado" was a witness for the land claim of
Austin Edwards.
February 22, 1917 the Wray Rattler " Judge Barker performed the marriage
ceremony Monday forenoon that united in wedlock B.A. Edwards of Eckley, and Ella
Herbaugh of Ford."
The WWI registration list included "Edwards, Bird Austin."
The caption said Ella Edwards and Ethel Hathaway - may be their brother

In 1920 Weld City Precinct, Yuma County, Bird A. Edwards is married to Ella
M., with L. Lavern 18 months old.
Bird proved up 320 acres in 20 and 21, 4N 45W in 1920 - that's very sandy ground.
They were in Denver in December 1928
The same page has "John, Cal and Ernest Edwards were trading in Eckley Monday."
June 27, 1929 "Sunday guests at the Floyd Woodcock home were John and Cal Edwards, Chester Ewing, L. M. McVIckers, Mr and Mrs. Bird Edwards and chldren, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Deibert and sons Donald and Ronald."
In 1930 Bird and Ella moved to Denver, and
have Lillian L. 11, and Paul L. 9..
1933 "Mr. and Mrs. Chas Brower and Cal Edwards spent Sunday and Sunday night at the Robinson home in Yuma. Cal Edwards left Monday for a visit with his brothers Dave and Bird in Denver."
Bird and Ella are still in Denver in 1940, where
Bird runs a coal yard. Paul is 19, a service station attendant.

Bird 1894-1979 is buried in Wheat Ridge, Colorado # 33760689, with Ella Mae (Herbaugh) Edwards 1900-1971.
ERNEST
In 1910 Yuma County, next to Austin Edwards, William F. Woodcock 50 born in Missouri, Mary 43 Iowa, have Florenze Z 13, John H. 13, Alberta L. 10, and Darwie A. 6, all five born in Missouri.
In 1920 Ernest and Florence have Dorris, 1.
In 1930 Ernest and Florence are living on South Albany in Yuma, with Doris 11, and Elvin 5. They're living with brother John W. 53 born in Illinois, and brother R. Calvin 49, widowed, Illinois. None have occupations.
May 1928 "Mrs. C.F. Woodcock and Mrs. FLorence Edwards were in Haxtun Friday, visiting with Mrs. Edwards' sister, Mrs. Alberta Diebert and children. The Diebert children, who have been quite ill with flu-pneumonia, are reported some better."
John and Cal Edwards were visiting their brother Ernest Sunday."
November 1928 "Mrs. C.F. Woodcock and son Shannon were overnight guests at the home of the lady's daughter, Mrs. E.E. Edwards."
Sunday visitors at the John Edwards home were Ernest Edwards, Orval Herbaugh, Chester Ewing, and Walter Hines."
In 1940 Yuma, on South Cedar Street, Ernest is a truck driver, with Dorris E. 21 and Irvin D. 15.
Dorris is a clerk in a variety store.
Ernest 1891-1950 and Florence 1893-1982 are buried in Yuma - "Florence, daughter of William F. & Mary Woodcock, married Ernest Elder Edwards, son of Austin Rule Edwards and Holly Jane Miller, 23 Feb 1916, Holyoke, Phillips Co.,Co. To this marriage were born: Doris and Elvin. "
Florence was living in Denver in 1958
Doris never married, and is buried in Yuma.
Elvin D. Edwards 1925-2007 is buried in Fort Logan # 36056431.
REUBEN CALVIN
In 1920 Yuma County, Weld City precinct, Hallie Edwards is widowed 65, son John W. 43, son R. Calvin 39, and his wife Nettie 37, all born in Illinois. They’re between the Bates and Lett family, so this would be between Pleasant Valley and Wages churches.
In 1940 Ruben C. 59 - widowed, no occupation- is in Denver, with brother John 63, a coal passer. Living with them are the newlyweds Melvin and Opal Brady.
On the same census page in 1940 is Martha J. Herbaugh, 74, born in Missouri living alone.
Bird A. Edwards , Ella, and Paul are also on the same census page in 1940.
Reuben is buried in an unmarked grave in Denver 1880-1954, "Married Nettie A. Wilkison August 6, 1907 - no known children."
DAVID ELDER
David 1884-1958 # 75805137 and Viola (Herbaugh) Edwards 1895-1962 are buried in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
"Married (1) Gladys DaVee, 30 November 1903, KS.(Divorced 1910) To this marriage were born: Orin and Ralph. Married (2) Gracie Viola Herbaugh, daughter of George Frederick Herbaugh and Martha Jane Elliott, 30 March 1913, Yuma Co.,CO. To this marriage were born: Darrell and Wayne."
Benjamin Edwards is a store keeper in 1900 Chicago, born Sept 1859, married 15 years to Martha January 1862, wtih Orne P. May 1890 and Gertrude January 1892, all four botn in Illinois. Orion D. April 1829 in New York and Maria Aug 1830 in Ireland, are his parents.
Orin D. Edwards 1829-1922 is buried in DeKalb County, Illinois # 24739506, with Maria J. 1828-1900, # 24739513.
Orin P. married Alice Wright, both 24, in Chicago on Nov 5, 1914.
They had Arthur Edwards in Eckley, Colorado October 7, 1917, and were in Pocahonta County, Iowa in 1920.
Orin P. 1890-1969 is buried in Springfield, Massachusetts # 46086976.
Arthur H. Edwards is also buried in Springfield 1917-2006 # 44883398.

Martha U. Edwards died in 1942, buried in Yuma $ 4948619.
In 1910 Yuma County, Ben P. Edwards is 50, Martha U. 48, with Orie P. 20, Gertrude 18, and Stephen U. 5.
February 2, 1911 Waverly items "The young people gave Miss Gertrude Edwards ( one of the old maids )
a very interesting surprise party, last Wednesday evening in honor of her 25
th birthday. We all wish her many more."
Gertrude Edwards, age 20, married W. J. Lockard on October 6, 1912, recorded iun Yuma County.
Gertrude 1892-1970 is buried in Yuuma # 51519877, with James Lockard 1888-1943.
Mary Evelyn Lambert Ethington is buried in Yuma # 31610942.
"Mary 'Evelyn' Ethington passed away March
21, 2004,at the age of 83 after a battle
with cancer and heart problems.
She was born to James and Gertrude
Lockard in Yuma, Colo. on April 22,1920.
She married Troy Lambert in June 1938
and he preceded her in death in 1954.
She then married Quinn Ethington in Jan
1955 he preceded her in death 1968.
Survivors include: five daughters,
Eileen Murdock and her husband, Joe,of
West Terre Haute; Georgia Peppcrworth
and Irene Austin of Terre Haute. Ruth
Sanquenetti and her husband, Willard,
of Clinton,and Julie Sink and her
husband,James,of Terre Haute.
She was blessed with fourteen
grandchildren: Rick Murdock and his
wife, Peggy, Troy Murdock and his wife,
Susan,Terry Kennedy and his wife Brenda,
Susan Richey and her husband, La Von,
Cheryl Pitman and her husband, Larry
Jeannie Cooper and her husband Dennis,
Mark Austin and his wife, Toni, Valori
Berrisford and her husband, Brian,
Beth Levine and her husband, Jim,
Willard Sanquenetti III and his wife,
Randi, Rhonda Bunnell and her husband,
Robert, Laura Glassgow,Brandy Cline

Special friends of the family are,

Jones. She also blessed with thirty
great grandchildren; and fourteen
great-great grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by
her parents,and two great-grandchildren,
Zachary Tyler McKay and Victoria Gay
Bunnell.
She was a member if the First United
Methodist Church of West Terre Haute.
A Cremation has been scheduled.
Visitation will be from 4 pm until
8 pm.Wednesday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce
Funeral Home with a special memorial
service at 7 pm with the Rev. Allen
Relford officiating. "
"Teachers meeting was held at Mr. Edwards Jan. 28 by some of the teachers of Yuma co. and matters were discussed
that were of vital interest to them."
