Isaac and Rosa (Hersey New) Peters and Napoleon B. and Myrtle (Clem) Peters,
Albert and Mary Sofia (Clem) Nelson
Isaac and Napoleon were sons of Martin Peters and Sarah J. Mason Peters. In 1870 Allen County Indiana with Louis and Sarah J. Hocleland are Ephragm Peters, 22, Isaac Peters 16, Napoleon Peters 10, Semantha Peters 7, and Willshere R. Peters, 4
Wilshire Riley Peters was a minister, in South Dakota in 1892 an 1896 when daughters were born, in Nebraska in 1899 when a son was born, and a wife Myra buried in Wyoming. His first wife Examenia May Delavan Peters, 1864-1888 is buried in the Decatur cemetery, Adams County.
Isaac married Sarah Elizabeth Nelson January 18, 1877 in Dekalb County, Indiana,
In 1900 Adams County Isaac, born June 1853 in Indiana, has been married 20 years to Sarah E. July 1861 Indiana. They have Ada Jun 1882, Eva Feb 1884, and Earl April 1886, all Indiana.

Both homesteaded about 280 acres in 1919, both in section 10, 2S 43W - a couple miles north of Beecher Island.
Napoleon's obituary said he was born near Fort Wayne on April 1, 1860. In 1888 he came to Omaha where he married Theresa Wild November 29, 1888 in Dorchester, Nebraska. Three sons, one of whom died in infancy.
When Martin Charles Peters registered, he said he was born June 3, 1890 in Dorchester, Nebraska.
In 1900 Dorchester, Saline County Napoleon, April 1860 in Indiana, is married to Theresa Feb 1866 Illinois. They have Martin June 1889 Nebraska and a son born September 1898.
The obituary said Theresa died in 1902.
In 1889 Jacob 57 and Caroline 57 Wild are in Saline County, with Sophia 20, Theresa 18, Henry 15, and Anna 13.
The Dorchester Cemetery has "Peters Thresa Lot 442 space 1 Jacob Wild purchased the plot and he and Caroline are in spaces 3 and 4, Rose is in 5, and Charles Osger is in 6 SO Theresa's and N.B.'s infant son almost certainly is in space 2. .".
In 1904 he married Myrtle Almira Clem of Decatur, Indiana. In 1900 they have Lyle 11 and Ruby I 3, both born in Nebraska. So Ruby was Myrtle's only child.
Preceded in death by brothers Ephraim, Isaac and Riley.
Survived by wife Myrtle, sons Martin of Crete, Neb and Lyle of New York City, daughter Ruby Cross of Wray and sister Mrs. Nettie Chrismer of Wray.
In 1910 Martin Peters is an engineer on a traction engine in Wauneta, Chase County Nebraska - he probably was running a tractor breaking sod, or a threshing machine engine.
In 1930 Crete there's a Martin Peters, 39, Nebraska, married to Anna 37, Nebraska, and in the Wilber Czech cemetery in Saline County Annie Dec 15, 1893-Feb28 1992 and Martin C. Peters Jun 3, 1890- March 30, 1976
| My grandfather, Charles Osger, came to the United States from
Denmark at the age of 14. He was accompanied by a friend, Napoleon B.
Peters. They were both musicians, and according to oral family history,
played with John Phillip Sousa. My grandfather's obituary shows that he
was born Sept. 14, 1862, in Lenvig(sp?), Denmark. He and Mr. Peters
ended up in Crete, Nebraska, and married sisters, Sophia and Theresa
Wild.

In 1910 Lansing "Napolian" B. is 50, Myrtle E, 28, both born in Indiana. Lyle 11, and Ruby I., 3, both born in Nebraska

1910 "Mrs. M. Clem and Mrs. W. Miller and son Earl arrived Monday morning from Findley, Ohio. They are the mother, sister and nephew of Mrs. Albert Nelson north of town and Mrs. N.P. Peters of the Coston ranch, whom they will visit for a few weeks."
1919 "Mr. and Mrs. N.B. Peters and daughter, Ruby, arrived Friday evening in Wray to spend a few days visiting Mrs. Peters' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nelson, north of Wray. The Peters' now reside in Denver, but formerly resided near Beecher Island."
In 1920 Lansing "Napolian" B. is 59, wife Myrtle E. is 36, born in Indiana, and they have Ruby I. 13, Nebraska.
Napoleon B. and Myrtle are in Yuma County in 1930 and - probably the same farm, but these had it in the Armel precinct.
Napoleon B. Peters is buried in Grandview. 1860-1942 - and Myrtle E. 1883 - 1972. In the same plot is "Peters, Infant Son & Daughter"
Mary Clem married Oliver Albert Nelson November 29, 1888 in Allen County.
In 1900 Adams County Indiana are Albert 34 Mary 32, Maud 10, Grace 7, Iria 3, and Iriena 1.
1909 
1909 "Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nelson came up from Ough, Neb, and are established on their claim just northeast of town. They are building a new house and otherwise improving it. The children will remain at their old home until school closes."
Albert proved up on 320 acres in 20, 2N 43W - about five miles northeast of Wray - in 1916.
1910 "Mr. Albert Nelson, who lives north of Wray made a trip to Nebraska this week."
In 1910 West Wray Albert Nelson is 43, Mary 40, Grace M. 17, Ira A. 13, Irene M. 11 Paul A. 5, all born Indiana, and Walter E. 2 Nebraska.
June 12, 1913
1915 "Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nelson ... had been visiting their son in Denver . It will be remembered that their son, a young man of about 19, was accidentally shot a few weeks ago, and is now in the hospital in Denver."
Ira Albert Nelson registered in Wray, saying he was born January 29 1897 in Decatur Indiana, and his father was born in Butler, Indiana. He was working for Albert on the farm. He registered for WWII in New York City, where he was working for Charles Scribner Sons
In 1920 Albert Nelson is farming in Yuma County, 53, with Mary 50, Eric A. 22, Maurine 20, and Paul A. 15 all born Indiana, Walter E 11 Nebraska, and Elonor M. 8, Colorado. Also with them are Margaret Clem, widowed, mother-in-law 76, Indiana, and George H. Clem, 46, Kansas.
1922 "Mr. and Mrs. Ira Nelson and little son Ivan were holiday visitors in the Albert Nelson home in Boulder."
Margaret died September 6, 1923 at the home of her daughter Myrtle Peters, near Wray. Her obituary said that her children were Mary Sofia Nelson of Boulder, George Washington Clem of Wray, Sarah Ann Lancaster of Jackson, Mich, Winfield Adam Clem of Crete, Neb, Myrtle, and Ross William Clem of Nelson, Neb.
Mary Nelson divorced Albert D. Nelson in Denver in 1929.
The 1930 Boulder census, with Mary Nelson, widowed, Irene M. 28, Paul A. 25, Walter 21, and Evaline M. 19 almost surely is the same one.
Isaac is in Fort Wayne in 1920, widowed, the only entry on a "Supplemental" "Father, age 65, born in Indiana. 2603 Florida Drive"
Attorney Ruben E. Peters 34, Estella L. 39, and Lea V. 11 are at that address, too.
In 1910 Wells County, Indiana Isaac and Sarah E. are alone.
Sarah - 1860 -1915 is buried in Decatur Cemetery, Adams County - and so is Isaac, dying in 1939.
ROSE and brother LUMAN RAY
In 1888 L.J. Hersey, a carpenter, boards at 1144 S. 13th - (An Erastus G. Hershey, carpenter rooms at 833 Santa Fe.
Luman J. Hersey, Rose & Luman's father father, owned a lot in Denver in the 1889 assessment.
In 1892 Denver Luman J. Hersey, carpenter, resides at 211 Kent.
In 1894 he's a bookkeeper, still at 211 Kent.
In 1896 he's "ore shippers agt, working at 406 Club Bldg.", still at 211 Kent. Miss Rose M. Hersey, a student, is at the same address.
In 1899 Luman J. is in real estate, Miss Rose is a teacher, both at 2121 W 34th.
In 1900 M. Rose Hersey, born October 1874 in Vermont, is teaching school in Fraser, Grand County, boarding with the Cline family. Rose Hersey married Clarence A. New in 1903 in Denver
The 1901 directory has Luman still in real estate, living at 2121 W 34th - At the same address are Miss Nellie R. Hersey, teacher, and Miss Rosa M. Hersey, teacher.
1906, still at 2121 W. 34th, Luman is in mining, L. Ray is an engineer, and Rose is a teacher.
In 1913 Luman J. Hersey is curator of ornithology at the Colorado Museum of Natural History, and he's the only Hersey at 2121 W. 34th.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Delia New; a son, Luman New; a stepson, Darwin McKenzie of Denver; and a sister, Mrs. Rose B. Darling of Greeley. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday from Macys drawing room, with interment at Linn Grove. 1917 "J.R. Thomas sold his farm of 320 acres, which is located eighteen miles northwest of Wray, Friday to Alvin D. New, of the same locality. Mr. New and family have been residing with Mrs. New's brother, Ed Wray, the past year."
And in 1920 Alvin D. New proved up 320 acres in sections 30, 31, and 32 of 3N 45W - northeast of Eckley. - only a mile from Edward P. Wray.

Edward Percy Wray 76, died at the Wray Hospital on Sunday Oct 20, 1940 following
a stroke at his homestead 10 miles north of Eckley. He was a familiar character
of both Wray and Eckley and had many friends in both places. H is survived by 5
brothers all living in Missouri and two sister, one of this county and one of
Denver, Co.

She's in 1910 Denver, age 35 born in Vermont, daughter of Luman J. and Laurette Hersey, with Luman Frank New born Nov 29, 1904 (California death record has him dying January 24, 1986).
In 1920 Rose H. Peters is teaching school in Lincoln County, Wyoming, living with the Bryant E. Stock family. Son Luman F, 15 is with her.
Her brother Luman Ray Hersey registered for WWI in Wray, saying he was born Feb 26, 1887 in Williamstown, Vermont, living with his parents. He proved up 80 acres in 1919 in 1S 43W
Luman J. Hersey 67 and Laurette D. Hersey are in Wray in 1920, farming, and in 1930 Laurette 86, widowed, is with her son L. Ray 43, Vermont and his wife Grace V. 30, Nebraska
Luman J -1852-1924 and Laurette D 1843-1930? Hersey are buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Denver.
L. Ray, Grace, and Virginia Rae, 11, Benjamin C. 8, Janie A. 5, and Betty Jean 1 are in Laird in 1940. L Ray "Hershey" 1887-1958 is in Grandview Cemetery 5 A 2 8, next to Grace V. Hershey Daniels 1899-1982, and Elmer Daniels 1898-1966 on the other side.
California has Rose M. New, born October 13, 1873 in Vermont, dying Nov 10, 1960 in Los Angeles, mother's maiden name Davis.

Isaac divorced Rosa M. Peters in 1920 in Yuma County. This has to be the Rose M. Peters "formerly Rose M. New" who proved up a homestead two miles west of Isaac's place in 1919.
Rose Mathilda Peters married Leslie J. Powers January 12, 1924.
One tree said Isaac married Lucy Blaine July 24, 1923, also in Adams County, Indiana and died January 24, 1939 in Decatur, Indiana.
| Tuesday, Jan. 24, 1939 Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Decatur United Brethren Church for Isaac Peters, 85, of near Waterloo, who died Monday morning at the Sanders hospital in Auburn where he was taken following a stroke of paralysis. Burial will be in a Decatur Cemetery. Mr. Peters, a DeKalb county resident for 15 years, was the father of R. Earl Peters, Indiana director of the Federal Housing administration. |
