Jerusha A. Davison, Norwood Beaty and Sarah Elizabeth Hogsett, sons Franklin S.L. Hogsett, Chas. L. Hogsett, daughter Myrtle Ruth Rhoda Catherine Hogsett BROPHY, Witherbee and Phillips County.

In 1880 Fremont County Iowa N.B. Hogsett 22 is married to Sarah, 19, no children.

The McCook newspaper of March 6, 1891 said that Hogsett, Norwood B. had a land patent waiting at the McCook land office - but the on-line BLM records don't have one under that spelling.

The Denver Land Office had a record of Norwood filing for a Timber claim in 4N 43W, but it wasn't completed.

In 1916 the estate of Jerusha A. Davison was being settled, and she bequeathed eighty acres in the ne of 5, 5N 43W to her daughter Eliza Hogsett and husband Norwood B. Hogsett residing in section 5, 5N 43W

A. Clyde Hogsett

A. Clyde Hogsett, 81, of Haxtun, Colo. died Dec. 23, 2003 at Holyoke, Colo.
He was born Nov. 20, 1922 at Lamar, Neb. to Ray Hogsett and Dora North Hogsett.
Clyde married Bonnie L. Chandler on Nov. 20, 1942 in McCook, Neb.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1945 and was discharged in 1946.
Clyde farmed and was a butcher and meat cutter. He was also a state meat inspector and state weights and measures. Clyde retired in 1987.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion, Elks, Haxtun Fire Department and the Haxtun Gun Club and Velda Coffee Shop Liars Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking for family get togethers, golfing and playing games.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Janice R. Kaiser, brother Clifford, Oliver, Edward and Marvin, brother-in-law Clarence Morse and sister-in-law Dorothy Hogsett.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie L. Hogsett of Haxtun, Colo.; sons Gary W. Hogsett and wife Gwen and Arlan C. Hogsett and wife Barb; brother Vernon Hogsett; sisters Vallie Fern Morse and Twila Mae Schilke and husband Bob; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Haxtun, Colo. with Reverend Keith Hudiburgh officiating.
Burial was at the Haxtun Cemetery, Haxtun, Colo.

John Orval Preston who was born in Harrison County, Missouri 1 APR 1875. He married Jerush Elizabeth Hogsett in Otoe County, Nebraska 4 SEP 1907. John died 14 NOV 1962 in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska.

Robert Rees PRESTON was born 6 JAN 1873 in Cainsville, Mercer County, Missouri, and died 16 MAY 1950 in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. He was buried 19 MAY 1950 in Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska Plot PP-014-04. He married Dora Jane HOGSETT ABT. 1901 in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. She was born ABT. 1884 in Missouri, and died 8 SEP 1957. She was buried 10 SEP 1957 in Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska Plot PP-012-04.

So "Normand" might be Norwood, and they decided to bury him with his children and grandchildren?

In 1934 Omaha Flora is the widow of David, living at 518 S 22nd. Edw. J., a laborer for the UPRR, also lives there., and grace, who works for the Federal Land Bank.

In 1936 Mrs. Flora Hogsett of Omaha attended the funeral of William Rogers of Prcival.

 


 Sarah is widowed in 1940 Franklin County.  She died Dec 13, 1945 at Champion, Nebraska, and is buried in the Lamar cemetery.  Norwood is the owner of a lot in the Lamar cemetery

The tree said Myrtle was born Oct 11, 1902 in Otoe County, Nebraska,

In 1900  Colorado Springs James Brophy, a stone mason, Mar 1864 and Julia Feb 1864 Ireland have James Jr. Mar 1886 Iowa , Michael J. July 1887, Julia Oct 1895, Joseph L. Dec 1897, and Peter Wm. Feb 1900 - the last five in Colorado.

Michael was the first baby baptized at St. John's Catholic Church in Yuma in 1887, according to his nephew Jimmy Brophy's story.

Michael proved up on land in 4N 44W and 5N 44W, near Julia A. Brophy and James Brophy claims.

Michael Brophy married Ruth Hogsett December 24, 1922

In 1930 Franklin County Michael Brophy 43, Colorado and Ruth 28, Nebraska have Gerald 6, John 2, and Geln three months.

In 1940 Franklin County they have Gerald, John, Glen Dale, son Francis 8 and David 4.

Myrtle Ruth Rhoda Brophy -Oct 11, 1902 - June 20, 1974 is buried in Roseland Cemetery Adams County Nebraska.  FAG 69644516 with Michael J. Brophy July 14, 1886- June 17, 1975. 68724153 not linked.

David Brophy of Silverdale

Sept. 9, 1935 to Nov. 13, 2008

David died of cancer at home.

He was born in Roseland, NE, Sept. 9, 1935, to Micheal John & Murtle Ruth (Hogsett) Brophy. David attended Roseland High School, then joined the Air Force in 1953-1957 where he received his training as a aircraft Engine Repair Mechanic.

After his Air Force career he worked at Boeing Co. in Seattle. In the late '60s he started his own business, David Aircraft & Engine Repair at Apex Airport. David was presented March 15th, 2008, the Charles Taylor "Master Mechanic" award given by the Depart. of Transportation & Federal Aviation Administration.

David is survived by three older brothers, Francis Brophy of Cambridge, Ne., John & Gertrude Brophy of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Gerald & Loretta Brophy of Ashland, NE. David has three children, Donald David Brophy of Silverdale, WA, Donna (Bryson) Brophy of Olympia, WA, Micheal Ray Brophy of Silverdale, WA; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews in Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be held at Apex Airport, David will be laid to rest in Roseland, NE.

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Casey, Miss Agnes Brophy and John Brophy of Denver. 
 
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Fred Lagler of Thurman; seven sons, Stephen of Chicago, 
Illinois, Dan of Oakland, California, Michael of Roseland, Nebraska, and James, Joseph, Peter 
and Edward all of Yuma County; 42 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one brother and 
a sister, who live in Ireland.

Jerusha proved up 160 acres in 4 and 5, 5N 43W in 1916.

Charles proved up a parcel in 3 and 4, 5N 43W, and 33 and 34 of 6N 43W in 1916.

Jerusha Baker arrived in Boston May 29, 1850 on the schooner Melanta from Wilmot, Nova Scotia.

In 1870 Gentry County Missouri David L. Davidson, 54, Indiana, is married to Jerusha A. 40, with Leman H. 18, Alma E. 11, Rosa J. 10, Eliza S. 9, Minnie O. 8, Charles L. five months.

They're in Stafford County, Kansas in 1880, with only Charles

and in 1885 Lancaster County, Nebraska with Charles

In 1900 Stafford County David and Jerusha are alone - with a servant.

But on the same page in 1900 is a Samuel A Davison Mar 1878 in Ohio, married to Ether F. Jun 1882 Illinois, also with a servant.  They have Charles E. Davison , May 1900.

Also on that page is a Nicholas Davison April 1848 Indiana, married to Mary E. Nov 1853, with George M. Oct 1882, Roscoe July 1885, David F. Apr 1888, John G. Mar 1890, Eugene F. April 1894, William McK Oct 1896, all born in Kansas.  Nicholas' widowed brother Albert Sept 1852 Indiana and nephew Earl Dec 1889 Nebraska are with them.

The Southwest Nebraska genealogy list has Sarah Eliza Davison born December 27, 1861 Valparaiso, Indiana, dying December 13, 1945, buried in the Lamar Nebraska cemetery, marrying Norwood Batey Hogsett January 24, 1917.

 

Jerusha A. Davison , 1830-1915, is buried in the Lamar cemetery.  Her husband might be the David I. Davison born 1817, dying August 1905, buried in the Luther Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana.
