In 1880 Mason County, Illinois August Handke is 27, born in Prussia, single.

One tree says August Handke was born, and married Margaretha Katrina Graff in 1884.  The tree says Margaretha was born Augu 14, 1863 in Ostfriesland, Germany.  Margaretha was the sister of Mary Graff who married Henry Lussenhop

August proved up a quarter in 34, 5S 44W in 1894 - the Evangelical Lutheran cemetery is in one corner of his claim.

There's an  August Handke in 1900 Tazewell County, Illinois (the Lussenhop family were neighbors in Colorado and also went back to Tazewell).  August Jan 1853 Germany, Margret E Aug 1863 Illinois, Elizabeth M. Sep 1884, Ida K., June 1886, Augusta M. May 1888, Henery A. Sep 1890, Katrina M. Feb 1892, and Fredrick D. Nov 1894 - all Illinois. 

In 1910 Tazewell County August is 57, Margret Christ 45, Mary Elizabeth 25, Ida Nathanie 23, Augusta Mary 21, Henry Aug-  19, Katherine Mary 18, Friedrick D. 15, and George Wm. 7.

In 1920 August and Maggie have Lizzie, Henry, Fred, and George.

In 1930 August and Maggie have just Mary E., 45

Illinois records have August's father as Albert Handke, mother Margaret.

Margaret's father was Jacob Graff, mother Christina Fowelback.

The stone in Meadow Lawn Cemetery, Mason County has August Jan 6, 1853 - Mar 19, 1936 and Maggie Aug 14, 1863 - Mar 22, 1946.
