George and Lula O. (Porter) Houtchens

One Ancestry tree says our Eunice Fowler, daughter of Benjamin and May Fowler, married December 26, 1858 Samuel Alex Porter (L.A. Porter) , 27 in  1860 Scioto, McDonough County, Illinois.

Mrs. Eunice Porter married Paschal McGee in 1876

In 1880 Paschal and Eunice P. McGee are  in Blandinsville, McDonough County, Illinois. They have Porter stepchildren Charles E. 17, Mariah L. 15, William H. 13, and Lewis A. 10. .  Eunice, per one Ancestry tree, was born November 17, 1839 in Gosport, Owen County, Indiana, and married Samuel A. Porter in December 1858 in McDonough County.

Paschal died August 1888 and is buried in the Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville.

In 1900 McDonough County George Houtchens July 1853 in Kentucky, Lula R. August 1860 in Illinois, Lillis 1879 in Illinois, Eunice 1881, George M Jun 1883, Charles H. 1884, Adolph 1893, Roy M. 1899, and boarder Eunice Porter born 1839, widowed.

George   Lula

In 1910 B. Mealey had filed a claim for land in 5S 45 W (near Beecher Island), with witnesses  including Anna Houtchens, Eunice Wilbut (Anna's daughter)

In 1910 George F and Lula are in Vernon, with Ralph 13, and Roe 10.

In 1920 Vernon they have Ralph, Roe, and granddaughter Elgin M. 17

George F. Houtchens 1853-1938 and Lula O. Porter Houtchens are  in Glendale Cemetery.

In 1920 Vernon they still have Ralph and Roe, but also Elgin M. Houtchin, granddaughter.

Eunice

Eunice married John R. Wilber who had come from Belleville, Kansas in 1907.  They homesteaded soauthwest of Idalia, and moved to near Wray in 1916.

They moved to Columbus, Nebraska and then Kearney.

The East Yuma History says Alvin came to Colorado in 1886

George R.

In 1910 George R. 27, is in Idalia, Anna J. (sister of William A. Davisson) is 27, Elgin M. is 7, Edwin C 5, Bernard L. 5, and Lula M. sixteen months.  George Robert Houtchens registered for WWI with a Kirk address, saying he was born January 31, 1883, and married to Anna Jane.

In 1920 they are in Johnstown, Weld County have Edwin, Bernard, Lula, and have added Alice 7, Doris 5, and Ruth 3.

Edwin Churchill Houtchens'  in Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley FAG says 1903-October 21, 1836, parents George Houtchens and Elgin Sappington  ??

Anna's in Greeley in 1930, saying she's married, but George isn't in the household.. She has Doris 15, Ruth 14, Ruby L. 6, and Gordon R. 5.  She has daughter Lula and her husband Bert F. Schmidt, with their children Robert O., Frederick J. and Eva J.

In 1940 Anna's still in Greeley, with Ruby and Gordon.  She has Mary C. Hill "Mother" 77  Mary C. Hill is buried in the Lucas Cemetery 1862-1940.

Lula is buried in the Evans Cemetery "Lula Mary McFarland .December 5 1908 June 19, 1991

The East Yuma History says George made his home in Denver.

Ralph moved to Denver

Roe

Roe attended Grand Island Business College and then made his home in Denver
