Henry and Effie M. (Day) (Wright) Dunker, Hughes

One family history says Henry was born Dec 22, 1877 in Carleton, Fillmore County, Nebraska, where he farmed until 1915, "upon a doctor's advice due to Faye's poor health." they moved to Yuma.

Effie Mae Day was born July 1, 1872 in Abingdon, Knox County, Illinois

In 1900 Effie was married to Wallace Wright in Fillmore County, Nebraska, with Edith, Ethel, and Effie.  One tree says Wallace Landow Wright died Nov 14, 1901 in Fillmore County.

In 1910 Fillmore County Nebraska, Henry is 33, Effie 38 - they've been married five years, and Effie has had five children.  They are the Wright sisters -Edith 17, Ethel 15, May 11 - then Lola 4 and Faye 2 Dunker - all five born in Nebraska.

 Clara Ethel Wright, born July1, 1895, married John Abraham Skipton in Bruning Nebraska Feb 18, 1912, and that they were in Wyoming in 1920

One tree says Ethel married Fred H. Messman Mar 12, 1913 in Bruning, and they were in Fillmore County in 1920 with two kids.  They have four kids in 1930 Perkins County, Nebraska, where Fred is a "collector for failed banks."  They're back farming in Fillmore County in 1940, with two sons and a grandson Gary Titchmer, 6.

The Day family history says Mae married a Mr. Redelfs, and John W. and May/Mae are in Omaha in later census and city directory listings.

Henry registered in Yuma County saying he was born Dec 22, 1877

Henry  proved up two quarters in 7, 3S 48W in 1920.

In 1920 Center precinct, Yuma County,  he's 41, born in Nebraska, with Effie M. 48, Illinois.  They have Lola P. 13 and Fay S. 11, both born in Nebraska.

Faye Dunker married Lester Abbey Dec 12, 1927

Lola married Wilson "Bill" Ben Veatch Nov 20, 1928 in Littleton.

In 1930 Henry and Effie are farming in Elbert County - no kids, just a couple of hired boys, and in 1940 with a hired man.

In 1940 Elbert County Lester F. Abbey, 37, Oklahoma, is a truck driver for the WPA,  Faye C. 32 and he have LaVonne C. 11, Darrel D. 8, and Keith L. 1 - all born Colorado.

On the same page are Wilson B. 37, Kentucky and Lola 33 Veatch.  Wilson is also a truck driver for the county.

Henry 1877-1956 and Effie 1872-1959 are buried in Elizabeth, Elbert County.

January 8, 1959 the Douglas County News, Castle Rock, Colorado

 "FUNERAL NOTICES - Mrs. Effie M. Dunker, today."

The Day family history says that she was survived by a sister Mrs. Clara A. Day (married Asa Wright)  Wright of Rooks County Kansas and a brother Charles Day of Thayer, Nebraska.  (neighbors of Effie in Yuma County were the Gerharts - from Rooks County)

Lester F. 1903-1959 and Faye C.  March 11, 1908-October 19, 1999 ABBEY, and

John A. 1892-1973 and Ethel  1895-1931 SKIPTON, and

Lola 1906-1982 and Wilson 1906-1982 VEATCH are buried in the Elizabeth cemetery.

John A. Skipton, Elizabeth, Colorado passed away Monday, January 22, 1973.  He is survived by his wife, Ora Skipton, son John, Jr., Englewood, daughter Roma Wilson, Casper, Wyoming; Marjorie Nixon, Boise, Idaho; Joyce Lucore, Grand Junction, Colorado; Ethel Jean Hoffman, Littleton, Colorado; step-children, Darrell Thompson, Aurora, Colorado; Helen Steyskal, Kansas City, Missouri; Ruth Hahn, Lincoln, Nebraska; brothers Oliver and Jesse Skipton; 18 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, January 26, at 1:00 p.m. at the Elizabeth Presbyterian Church with interment at the Elizabeth Cemetery
