Vernon G. and Mamie (Anderson) Erickson, Alphon Earnest and May Adeline (Johnston) Erickson, Hughes
In 1900 "Gifford V" Erickson is with his widowed father Henry in Nuckolls County, Nebraska (Elk) , born April 1890. with sister Bessie May Dec 1896 and brother James A. Dec 1898.
In 1870 Butler County Nebraska Samuel Erickson is 38, Martha 30, with Calvin 11, Henry 8, and George 6, all born in Indiana.
Henry might be the one born 1861 in Indiana who married Dora B. Allen, 18, in Fillmore County Nebraska October 27, 1884.
In 1900 "Alfpon" is 20, also in Nuckolls County, with his widowed father Samuel R. Erickson, 59. Might be the Samuel Erickson who married Martha Stopher in Adams County Indiana Jan 7, 1860. So Henry is Alphon's much older brother, it seems.
Henry married May A. and they're in Nuckolls County in 1910, with D. Marvin 6, Hester C. 2, and Leota G. ten months.
March 1912 Yuma "John Marr, Alf Erickson and W.A. Fagan, all of Oak, Nebr., arrived in Yuma Tuesday morning with three cars of stock and implements and will now be citizens of Yuma county. They will locate south of town."
Alphon Earnest Erickson registered in Yuma County, saying he was born July 6, 1879.
In 1920 Alphon and May have Marvin , Hester, Leota, and now Lamont A. 7, Ruth D, 4, and Richard G. six oths, the last three born in Colorado.
They're farming in Elbert County in 1930, with Marvin, Lemont, Ruth, Jack 10, and Ida 7.
May is widowed in 1940 Elbert County, with Marvin - widowed - working on roads for the WPA, Richard a clerk for the WPA, grandson Leland R. 9, Donald M. 6, and daughter Ida 17.
Alphon 1897-1939 and May 1880-1966 are buried in Elizabeth, Elbert County. So is Stella M. Erickson 1909-1939 (possibly Marvin's wife) and Leland - Dec 30, 1930 - Nov 1, 1991
Vernon proved up two quarters in 6, 3S 48W in 1917.
He married Mayme E. Anderson November 28, 1917. One tree says she was the daughter of Alonzo and Laura Ann (Dunbar) Anderson
Vernon Gifford Erickson registered with a Hughes address, saying he was born April 18, 1892 in Oaty, Nebraska.
In 1920 Washington County, Colorado Vernon is 29, Mamie E. 17, both born Nebraska. Raymond G. fourteen months old, was born in Colorado.
In 1930 Gifford and Mammie are on South Columbus in Yuma, where he is a day laborer. They have Robert M. 8, Nebraska and Belva J. 2, Colorado.
Gifford is in Yuma in 1940, widowed, a painter, living on East 4th Avenue. Mamie is in the state hospital in Pueblo, with a 1935 residence of Yuma.

Robert "Bob" Erickson, 84, of Lebanon, Oregon met with the Lord on
Thursday September 22, 2005, with his family at his side. Bob was born June 5, 1921 in Camus, Nebraska the son of Vernon Gifford and Mamie Elizabeth (Anderson) Erickson. He grew up in Yuma, Colorado and graduated from Yuma High School. He was quite proud of the fact that he had served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dorania Spurgeon on September 8, 1951 in Albany, OR. Together they raised four children in Lebanon. One of their favorite activities was their trips to Reno. Spending time with their family was always center in their life. Bob worked for the Lebanon School District for twenty years, retiring in 1982. Bob loved going to garage sales and his yearly garage sale was anticipated by many. He enjoyed hunting and collecting old cars. He was always on the lookout for Breyer horses to add to his collection. He was a lifelong Republican and kept up with political issues. Many visitors passed through his home, often sitting around discussing current events over a cup of coffee. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Belva Miller on July 30, 2005. He is survived by many who loved him including his wife of 54 years, Dorania Erickson of Lebanon, children, Jim (Helen) Erickson of Denver, CO, Judy (Jerry) Jacobson of Denver, CO, Pam (Kris) Solberg of Brownsville and Neva (Kim) Klee of Lebanon. Bob had eight grandchildren who adored him; Jim Erickson of Denver, CO, Kim Colvin of Denver, CO, Becky McKinney of Denver, CO, Susie Rossman of Carlisle, OH, Mici Wiggins of Denver, CO, Trapper Solberg of Brownsville, Dorinda Klee of Eugene and Hunter Klee of Orange, CA. He was "Grandpa Great� to eight great grandchildren. Included amongst his survivors is his adopted family: George, Laura, Melissa and Raimee Brazeale.
