Chelsia Claude and Estia (Eastin) Duff, Mildred
Ruby Bell Duff, 89, of McAlester, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at a local nursing center. The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Steve Hammontree and Karl Scifres officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. Pallbearers include Chris Bowling, Logan Bowling, Chris Campbell, Matt Arnold, Dustin Duff and Patrick Brintle. Honorary pallbearers include her grandsons, Jimmy D. McNeelis, Jamie Arnold, Johnny Allen and Jack Brian Palmer. She was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Paris, Ark., to Andrew and Amy (Monks) Graves. When she was just a child, she moved with her family to Pittsburg County and had lived here for more than 80 years. She married Raymond Elvis Duff on Feb. 26, 1944, in McAlester. She worked as a nurse's aide at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home and McAlester Hospital and then operated a daycare in her home for a number of years. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and loved to work out in her flower gardens. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include two daughters, Clara Arnold and James, of McAlester, Linda Palmer and Dale, of Soper; one son, Elvis Duff and Robin, of Mannford; son-in-law, C. J. Allen, of Krebs; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Wilda Graves, of McAlester, Faye Snow and Eugene, of Florida, Jean Martin, of Louisiana. Also, grandchildren, Betty Bowling and Chris, Jamie Arnold and Twila, Suzy Campbell and Chris, Jimmy McNeelis and Abby, Janice Benson, Johnny Allen, Joanna Marlow and Robert, Christina Vesey and Ken, Jack Brian Palmer, Janie Inks and Sherman, Charlotte Avey and Billy, Crystal Stice and Derrick, Nancy Duff. And, 33 great-grandchildren; more than 18 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, stepgreat-great-grandchildren, and special friend and caregiver, Nadine Bonham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, who died on July 28, 1999; her parents; a daughter, Frances Allen; a granddaughter, Jeannie McNeelis; a great-grandson, Bradley Arnold; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Cecil Graves, and two sisters, Tilda Tugmon and Ruthie Owens. |
