Lemmons and Mary Ann (Hawthorne) Brattain, sister Georgiana (Brittain) and John Eastin, Fox



"Lemant" Brattain married Sybil Cooper in Van Buren County, Iowa on April 6, 1845.

In 1850 Van Buren County, Iowa Lemmons is 38, Sybil 27, Nancy 4, Georgiana 3, Stephen 8, Zerild C. Brittain 26, and Louisa 1.

In 1870 Decatur County, Iowa, Lemmons Brattain is 58, born in Indiana, farming, with "Sibble" 40 Ohio. Georgia 20, Hollie 17, and Emma J. 16 were born in Iowa. LEMONS 12 was born in Missouri.

In 1880 Mercer County, Missouri, Lemmons is 65, Sybil 52, William 27, and Lemmons 23.

One researcher wrote
Lemmons moved from Farmington to Polk, Adair, MO in 1860, to Eden Decatur, Iowa in 1870's, to Lindley, Mercer, MO in 1880's where he died in Mercer Co., MO or Pleasanton, Decatur, IA on 15 Mar 1885. He married Sibyl Cooper 6 Apr 1865 in Van Buren Co., IA. He had the following children: Stephen? , Nancy Catherine, Georgianna, William Thomas, Emma Jane, Lemmons W., and Mary.
Nancy Catherine married Joseph Wheeler on January 15, 1865 in Monona County, Iowa, and they had John Lemons Wheeler in 1866 - John died Nov 11,k 1935 in Moore, Idaho. They had Sybil Elizabeth Weheeler in 1871, who died 1947 in Weber County Utah as Sybil Rosevear.
Georgianna married John J. Eastin, Emma Jane married William or M.F. Richardson,
(Emma likely died about 1892 - her daughter Eva Richardson born July 1888 was living with widowed Ellen Branamin 63 in 1900 Mercer County, Missouri - Viola was 17, in Clark County, Kansas with aunt Sarah (Richardson) Simmons.)
Lemmons W. married Mary Ann Hawthorne.

Lemmons, born March 1815 in Wayne County, Indiana, died in March 1885.
Sybil, born January 1827 in Ohio, died in November 1889. She attended the Pleasanton Iowa branch of the RLDS.

GEORGIANA

In 1885 Crawford County, Iowa, John J. Eastin is 31, farming, born in Illinois, with Jane A. 29 born in Van Buren County. Lenora is 8, Syble 6 born in Taylor County.
In 1900 Glendale precinct, John born Dec 1853 in Illinois, married 26 years to Georgiana Sept 1854, Iowa, have Sibyl Jan 1879 Iowa and John A. Oct 1886 Iowa.

Georgiana 1847-1925 is buried in Vernon # 11568715, with John J. Eastin 1852-1942 # 11568905.

Sibyl Eastin, 29, married Oliver F. Shively on April 24, 1907 in Yuma County.

They're in Vernon precinct in 1910, Oliver F. and Sibyl both 31, with Oscar L. Shively 1.

Oliver is farming in Yuma County in 1920, 41, with "Sivyl" 39, Oscar 11 and Otis 5.
She's buried in Brighton, Colorado 1879-1961 # 110000144, with Oliver Frank Shively 1877-1961.

Oscar R. Shively 1908-1998 is buried in Denver # 153258093 - having married Ethel M. Karr of Eckley
Oscar's son Eldon Eugene Shively Sr, born August 23, 1931 at Wray, died May 1, 1997 in Mendocino County, California.

John A. Eastin married Carrie I. King on September 16, 1907 in Yuma County.

In 1910 they're farming in Yuma County, John 22, Caroline 20, with George 2. Florence Belyer 2 born in Wisconsin and Louis F. Belyer newborn in Colorado are with them.

April 16, 1914 "Mrs. Carrie Eastin was suddenly taken sick Saturday. Dr. Worth was called and she is now nicely recovering."

They're in Vernon in 1920. John is 32, Carrie I. 30, Georgia 12, and Laura 4.

In 1930, still farming near Vernon, (next to Clarence E. and Angie Custer) John and Carrie have Laura 14, Irvin 10, and John J. 6.

Laura June Eastin married Max H. "Garten" on Jully 7, 1938, recorded in Yuma County.

In 1940, they have Irvin 20, Johnnie 16, and Homer Eugene 8. Laura Garton is 24, questionable marital status, with Henry Dale ten months old.
Max H. "Garton" is a laborer in 1940 in Cascade, Montana - he was in Teton County in 1935.

Irvin "Jack" Eastin 1920-1966 is buried in Yuma.

Johnnie J. Eastin, 78, of Brighton, formerly of Loveland, died April 26, 2002, in Brighton.
He was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Vernon, to John A. and Carrie I. King Eastin. He graduated from high school in Wray in 1944. He then served in the Army infantry during World War II.
He married Eva L. Ochsner in Denver on Nov. 17, 1982. She preceded him in death March 28, 1996.
Mr. Eastin worked as a bricklayer for 33 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Bricklayers Union Local 7 in Denver. He loved fishing, polka dancing and going to dog races. He also enjoyed hunting.
Mr. Eastin is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, brother and wife, sister-in-law, Tillie, and three granddaughters [survivors names omitted]. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Allnutt-Hunter Chapel in Loveland. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Allnutt-Hunter Chapel. Burial will follow at Loveland Burial Park.

Homer Eugene Eastin 1931-2011 is buried in Grand Junction
Homer E. Eastin, 79, Fruita, died May 19, 2011, at the Veterans Medical Center.
Mr. Eastin was a rock crushing supervisor.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; four sons; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


In 1966 Max Garten and Henry of Great Falls, Montana came to the funeral of Jack Eastin.
Maxwell Henry Garten, born October 10, 1910, died in Cascade County, Montana on May 15, 1984 per one tree.
1985 Eckley "Laura Garten, Tillie Andrews' sister-inlaw, of Great Falls Montana came Tuesday to visit the week in the ANdrews' home. Walter and Clara Eastin of Seibert came sunday afternoon to visit with them..
Johnny Eastin of Loveland visited with Tillie and Harry Andrews and their house-guest, Laura Garten. They allwere supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine Eastin, Dennis and Katie."
"Laura Garten of Great Falls Montana, Alberta Peterson and Lucy Eastin were luncheon guests of Betty and Bobbie Shapard . Betty took Larua to Denver to spend time with Judy Walter, Jean Gilbo and Joyce Eastin. Laura Garten is an aunt of the girls and is visiting in Colorado."
Laura June Garten died in Cascade County, Montana on August 5, 1994.
August 18, 1994 Eckley Items "Laura (Eastin) Garten, sister-in-law of tillie Andrews adn Betty Shapard of Yuma, passed away at ther home in Great Falls Montana Friday mornign, August 5. Funeral services are pending."

Maxwell H. Garten was in Yuma County in 1930, 19, with parents John L. 64 and Lydia M. 52, Farming. Earl is 30, Len L. 24, Ben R. 21, and Blaine A. 16.
All the sons were born in Colorado.
LEMMONS
Benjamin K. "Hathorn" married Sophronia Milsap on December 13, 1851 in Lawrence County, Indiana.

In 1870 Mary A. Hawthorn is 13, Sarah C. 16, and Elizabeth 17, with mother Sophronia Robins 40 and her husband Wesley 40 born in Ohio.

In 1900 Mercer County, married 33 years, Wesley is 71, Sophronia 69.

Wesley Robbins 1828-1904 is buried in Mercer County # 38818712, with wife Susan 1833-1866.

In 1880 Mercer County, Missouri, John S. King is 23 farming, born in Illinois, with Mary A. 22 born in Iowa.

Lemmons Brattain and Mary A. King, both 41, married on January 21, 1899 in Mercer County, Missouri.

In 1900 Mercer County, Lemmons is farming, born March 1857 in Missouri, with Mary August 1857 Iowa. They have George King July 1880, Homer June 1883, Grace July 1885, Carrie Dec 1889, Nancy April 1891, Daisy Nov 1894, and their own Samantha King January 1900, all kids born in Missouri.

In 1910 Yuma County, Lemmons and Mary have Angelina 10 and Hazel 7, both born in Missouri.

March 19, 1914 Davis City, Decatur County, Iowa "Mrs. May Brattain, of Colorado, arrived last Friday for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Acton, of this city."

1914 "Lem Brattain from the sand hills visited J. J. Eastin's Sunday."


Lemmons proved up two quarters in 24, 3S 46W in 1920.

In 1920 Yuma County, they have only Hazel, 17.

Lemmons 1857-1924 is buried in Vernon # 47625807, with Mary Ann (King) (Hawthorne) Brattain 1857-1930 # 47625848.

Mary's nephew George F. Butler - son of Elizabeth Hawthorne Butler, is in the same neighborhood.

Mary was living with daughter Grace Acton in 1930 Idalia precinct. Mary is widowed. George and Grace have William, 8, born in Iowa.


Grace King, daughter of John King and Mary Cochran, age 17, born in Mercer County, married G.F. Acton on August 13, 1902 in Decatur County, Iowa.

March 19, 1914 Davis City, Decatur County, Iowa "Mrs. May Brattain, of Colorado, arrived last Friday for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Acton, of this city."

Grace is working at a hospital in Des Moines, Iowa in 1920, with George F. Acton 38. Wilma is 16, CHester A. 7, and Jane Acton is 75.
(Selette Jane Acton - nee Bledsoe - married first a Boswell Baker about 1860 - 1844-1924 is buried in Decatur County, Iowa # 6284315, with Wm Acton 1846-1916 # 6284327.

In 1930 they're in Yuma County, Mary Brattain living with them.
In 1940 Laird precinct, George 61 - no occupation - and Grace 53 have only William, 18.

Nancy King married James Eastin on Dec 6, 1909 in Wray.

They're in Vernon precinct in 1910, both 19.

They're in Mildred precinct in 1920, with Walter 8, Cloyd 7, Marie 2, and Wayne newborn.

In 1930 Kit Carson County, James Eastin is a farm laborer, 37, Nancie 38, with Cloyd 17, Marie 12, Wayne 11, Levita 9, Warren 7, Margie 4, and Geraldine 1.
They're in Stratton, Colorado in 1940, James working for the WPA. Levia is 18, a seamstress for the NYA. Warren is 17, Marjorie 13, Juleen 410, Vera 9, and Donald L. 5.

Nancy Jane (King) Eastin 1892-1963 is buried in Vernon # 11568835, with James Levi Eastin 1892-1954.
April 8, 1910 "Chas. Kibel and Daisy King of Vernon were married this week by Judge T. C. Jennings at his office in the court house."

Daisy Dora (King) Kibel 1894-1980 is buried in Vernon # 47647711, with Charles A. Kibel 1886-1950. They married on April 5, 1910 in Wray, Yuma County, Colorado. They had 13 children.


Angie Isabell (Brattain) Custer is also buried in Vernon, with Clarence Edward Custer 1894-1959.
CLARENCE EDWARD CUSTER was born April 01, 1894 in Arapahoe County, Colorado, and died 1959.

He married ANGIE ISABELL BRATTAIN September 26, 1916, daughter of LEMMONS BRATTAIN and MARY HAWTHORNE. She was born January 01, 1900 in Missouri, and died July 1973 in Boise, Ada County, Idaho.
1958 "Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Custer and Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Custer and son Dickie of Yuma drove to Colorado Springs, spending the night with Mr. and Mrs. Jewett Custer. Then they all drove to Pueblo of Mrs. Clarence Custer Jr. to Elizabeth Johnson.

Marie Newland and Lemuel Custer married in September 1946 at St. Francis, Kansas.


Marie might be the Marie P. Beaumont 1926-2004 buried in Yuma # 48448268.

Hazel 1902-1983 is buried in Vernon # 47658900, with Charles Roy Nash 1896-1972.

Philip Jackson, son of Daniel Jackson and Alice Pettifish, age 35, a warehouse man, married Eva Walker, 39, in Des Moines Iowa on July 9, 1927.
Her father was Frank Braittain, mother Nancy Miller - the second marriage for both.
In 1900 Wayne County, Iowa Frank and Nancy E. Brattain were both 37, with "May E. " born June 1888 in Iowa. She was married to Emery Walker in 1910 Wayne County, with Claude 1. In 1920 Wayne County, Emery 43 and Eva M.31 have Claude E. 11 and Harold F. 7.
