Elijah married July 14, 1889 Laura Etta Neal, who was born September 19, 1871 in Stanberry, Gentry County, Missouri. Laura was a sister of George Gregg Hatheway's wife,> Both were daughters of James W. and Sarah Catherine (Pettit) Neal.
They had ten children.

Calvin P., born Dec 1908 in Lyons, Kansas, married Ruby Taylor Sep 10, 1934. In 1940 he was working construction in Boradwater County, Montana as an "enamel coater" - said he was married, and was living in Yuma in 1935

In 1900 Eligha (sic) and Sarah E. are in Gentry County, Missouri. They have Ruffell V. 10, Corless E. 6, Elsie C. 4, and Clida W. 1.
In 1910 Glenn 9 and Mabel 7 are living with brother Ruffil and his wife in Chase County Nebraska
Elijah and Laura are also in Chase County, with Carl 10, Elsie 14, Clyde 12, and Calvin 2
November 1911 "Mr. E.E. Hathaway is building a house on his homestead south of town (they mean the Ford post office). This will be the largest residence in this vicinity."
The 1920 census shows them in Yuma County with Mable 16, Calvin P. 12, Melvin W. 8, and William R. 5. By the names on the census page they're on the land claim just north of the Pleasant Valley church.
E.E. is in the 1934 Yuma County, located in 13, 5N 46W.
L.E. (has to be Laura) is in 6, 4N 46 W
The 1937 Yuma directory has Mrs. Laura E. Hathaway (sic) at 303 South Birch, Yuma.

May 1915 Carl Hathaway, "of Ford, Colo." was a witness for David E. Edwards' claim. Other witnesses were Carl C. McNichols, Elmer Herbaugh, and Henry Elliott.

William P was living with his brother-in-law Charles Spelts in 1930. He married Helen, and they were living in Dundy County Nebraska in 1940. William and Helen are buried in the Wray cemetery
