History of Marshall County, Kansas "U. B. SAWYER was born in Washington County, Vt., December 22, 1857. Removed at the age of fifteen years to Pawnee County, Neb.; educated in common schools; was a farmer until 1879, when he came to Axtell, Marshall County, and opened a harness and leather store; has a large stock of merchandise, and does a thriving trade. Was married July 7, 875 to Miss Huldah L. Briles. They have two children -- Hattie and Pearl"

In 1910 Uriah B. Sawyer, 55, born in Vermont, wife Augusta C. 48, Illinois, and Nola M. 13, born in Kansas, are living in north Yuma County Augusta has had four children, three living.- . On the same page is the large William Turner family
Brewer Sawyer proved up a quarter in 17, 5N 48W in 1913. Witnesses were Clarence E. Buzzell, Adam D. Young, William H. Buzzell, and John Bird, all of Bryant.
1909 "H.L. Will, J.S. Duboise, Geo. Rider and N.B. Sawyer of Smith Center, Kansas, were driving over our farm lands Tuesday."
In 1920, 1925, and 1930 Uriah and Augusta are back in Smith County, Kansas.
