Hattie F. (Owen) Compton, Victoria, Emma, and Lettie Owen, Bryant


In Cedar County, Missouri in 1870, Asa Owen is a farm laborer, 44 and Murch 43, both born in Pennsylvania. William H. is 14, Harriet 12, Selistia 7, Emma 5, and Victoria 4. All the kids were born in Iowa

Possibly Ann Maria Owen 1827-1874 buried in Crawford, Pennsylvania is the one # 135590591 "wife of A. C. Owen"

In 1880 Butler County, Pennsylvania, "Charles A. Owen" is 52, married to Matilda 42, both born in Pennsylvania. Hattie is 20, Cellesta 16, both born in Iowa.

Amasa C. Owen's estate was probated in Cattaragus County, New York in December 1888, with Matilda J. Owen as widow.

His sister Helen Stannett, born October 1848 in Illinois, had married Robert Stannett in Denver in 1881, and they're in Arapahoe County, Colorado in 1900. Helen is widowed in 1910 Arapahoe County.

VICTORIA

In 1880 Walter and "Anna" Compton are farming in Platte County, Nebraska, with W.R 21 and Victoria Owen 13.

In 1885 Platte County, Nebraska, Walter Compton is farming, 61, Hannah 60, Will 26, and Victoria Owen is a servant, 16. Betsy Compton 89 his mother, and Clarissa 60 a sister are with them.

In 1900 Yuma County, William Compton born April 1860 in Pennsylvania, and Hattie July 1861 in Iowa, have three kids, all born in Colorado. Walter M. Aug 1890, Charlie C. Dec 1892,and Bartle R. May 1894. Victoria Owen is a servant, born Sept 1869 in Iowa.

In 1912 Pasadena, California, Miss Victoria Owen is working at Cawston's Ostrich Farm, 815 Prospect.

In 1913 Los Angeles, Victoria (Owen & Fisher) is living at 2800 1/2 S. Grand Avenue.

Emma is a saleswoman at Jacoby Bros, living at 327 E. 62nd (but this iis possibly not our Emma)


In 1920 Victoria is working at an ostrich farm in Los Angeles County, 42, born in Iowa, living wihth Mary Hamiltona nd Louise Fisher, both working on the ostrich farm.
The 1921 directory has the ostrich feather worker at 6130 York Boulevard, Los Angeles.

In 1924 Los Angeles, Victoria (Compton & Owen) is living at 232 Thorne.
In 1930 Los Angeles, Lettie is teaching, 47, born in Iowa, with Victoria A., a lunch room waitress, 44.

Victoria Antoinette Owen applied for a birth certificate in 1935, born September 2, 1868 in Cresco, Iowa to Amasa Charles Owen of Indiana, 43, and Anna Maria Cravens, 39, of Pennsylvania. William Compton was a source.

Victoria A. Cooley married Frank L. Cooley, both of Pierce County, Washington, on May 14, 1930 in Pierce County. Lettie A. Owen was a witness.



In 1940 Kitsap County, Washington, Victoria 70 born in Iowa ia with Frank 58, a cook, born in Connecticut.

Victoria, 82, died in Auburn, Washington on April 19, 1952.

HATTIE

William R. Compton and Hattie F. Owen married on July 20, 1889 in Arapahoe County, Colorado (which at that time included Denver and stretched to the Kansas border.)

Hattie Owen cash-claimed a quarter in section 33, 5N 48W in 1891, and then Hattie F. Compton proved up one next to it in 1896.



Hattie Florence Owen Compton 1858-1935 is buried in Denver # 118754180. "The daughter of Charles Amasa Owen and Anna Maria Cravens of Pennsylvania, Hattie Owen Married William Ruric Compton July 20, 1889 in Arapahoe, Colorado. They had three children: Walter Murat Compton, Charles Clyde Compton and Bartle Robert Compton."

1899 Yuma "Miss Lettie Owen was a Fort Morgan visitor the fore part of the week."

Lettie born June 1872, and sister Emma Sept 1874, both born in Iowa, are teaching in 1900 Yuma County. From the neighbors, they're in the area about fifteen miles north of Yuma.
March 1901 Lettie A. Owen, member of the Modern Woodmen of America, passed a resolution upon the death of Floyd, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Conkling. It implies that Lettie was a teacher.

In 1930 Los Angeles, Lettie is teaching, 47, born in Iowa, with Victoria A., a lunch room waitress, 44.

Celestia A. Owen, 58, died in Kitsap County on July 22, 1935. The record has her parents as Thomas C. Owen and Anna M. Cravens.
EMMA

Miss Emma Owen was teaching in the Yuma school in January 1900.
March 1900

Lettie born June 1872, and sister Emma Sept 1874, both born in Iowa, are teaching in 1900 Yuma County. From the neighbors, they're in the area about fifteen miles north of Yuma.

1901 "Misses Lettie and Emma Owen and Mrs. W. R. Compton left Wednesday afternoon for Denver whee they will visit relatives for thirty days."



Emma Owen was teaching in District # 29, Curtis in November 1901.
