EDWIN and ALICE YOUNG

In 1880 Audrain County Missouri, A.M. Jones is 26, Alice 23, Willie 3, Motie 2, and Curtis 1.

 Edwin Young is in Henry County, Missouri in 1870, 30, Illinois, married to Miriam E. 25, Ohio, with Ernest, 2 Missouri.  Edwin and Miriam E. Koff had married in 1862 in Christian County, Illinois. 

 

In 1880 Audrain County - "EDWARD" Young, 40, Illinois, Delia 24, Missouri, Earnest 12, Daisy D. 6, Minnie B. 2, all three Missouri, and hired man George Roberts, 18, Missouri.

Edwin Young and Adella E (McCullough) Young had a daughter April 22, 1885 in Audrain County.

Della V. "wife of Edwin Young, born July 4, 1855, died April 30, 1886" is buried in Skull Lick Cemetery, Audrain County.  The death records say she died nine days after childbirth.  Another death record has a four-month old girl dying of cholera in Audrain County August 23, 1885.

In 1900 Audrain County Missouri, Edwin Young, April 1840 Illinois, Alice Sep 1855 Missouri have been married 12 years, and Alice has had 7 children.  With them are Robert A.,  Apr 1884, Aubry C. , Sep 1890, Charles A., Mar 1892, and Ruby B.,  Sep 1897, all kids born in Missouri, and Nicola Jones, stepdaughter October 1875 Missouri.

Charles Arthur Young registered in Kirk, born March 1, 1892 in Centralia, Missouri, was single, farming.

In 1920 Kirk precinct Edwin is 79, Alice 64, Auburn (this is Arbry Carl / Carl A. ) 29, Charles A. 27, and Ruby B. 22.

In 1930 Kirk precinct Edwin is 89, Alice B. 72, Carl A. 39, Charles A. 37, and Ruby B. 33.

Carl A. Young - 1890 -1966 is buried in the Olivet Cemetery 67407167

Charles A. Young 1892-1972 is buried Olivet.

Ruby B. Young - 1897-1977 is also buried in Olivet.

So are Edwin Young - April 23, 1840 - Dec 4. 1931 and Alice B. Young - Sept 11, 1857. 

FindAGrave has a record of a Mary E. Wright in that cemetery - Feb 24, 1871 - Dec 30, 1919, spouse of Andrew Joel Wright.

GEORGE

George might be the one in 1900 Atchison County, Missouri, a farm laborer for William Finney.  George was born March 1881 in Missouri, father Ohio, mother Missouri.

In 1900 Osage County, Kansas a Myrtie B. Guy, born May 1884 in Kansas, is with F.M. 41 and Matlda (sic) 38 Guy.  Younger brothers Jessie L. and Jerrie , both August 1888 in Kansas, are with them.

G.E. Young, 29,  married Murtle Guy, 25, December 29, 1909 in Wray - Judge  T. C. Jennings performing the ceremony.  The Gazette said Myrtle Belle Guy.

In 1910 Idalia precinct George, 29,  Missouri, and Myrtle 25 Kansas are newly married, and living near Joes, based on the neighbors Mace and Bohrer.

Francis M. Guy, 51, and Matilda 48, are farming in Kirk precinct in 1910.  Next household is Edwin Young 69, Illinois, married 20 years to Alice, 55, Missouri.  They have Carl A. 19, Charles A. 17, and Ruby B. 12, all Missouri.  Edwin proved up on two quarters in 15 and 22, 4S 46W in 1913, witnesses Clarence F. Mathis, James L. Richards, Andy M. Brown, and John B. Collett.

On the same page is Jesse Guy, 21, Kansas, a hired man for  Elmer E. Miller.

1916 "Miss Gladys Pugh and sister, Mrs. Jerry Guy, were in Wray Tuesday attending to business.  They are from the Kirk neighborhood."

Jesse Lee Guy registered with a Kirk address, saying he was born August 30, 1888 in Homewood, Kansas, and was single.

Jerry also registered with a Kirk address, with a wife and child.  Jerry G. Guy married Mabel Pugh February 28, 1916 in Yuma County.

In 1920 Jesse is with brother Jerry A. Guy in Kit Carson County, Stratton precinct.  Jerry is 32, married to Mable A. 26, with Richard F. 3 and Margie 2.

Jesse L. Guy proved up on 160 acres in 5, 4S 46W in 1921 - next to Francis M. Guy's two quarters in section 9, in 1912, and Mabel A. (Pugh) Guy, two quarters in section 4 in 1920, and Jerry G. Guy's two quarters in 9 and 10 in 1915.

Jerry and Jess are together in 1930 Kirk precinct.  Jerry G. is 41, Mabel A. 36, Richard F. 13, Marjorie J. 12, David J. 10, Leona M. 7, Ruth M. 6, Pauline M. 4, Joanne M. 2, and Valerie J. five months.

Jesse Lee Guy married Mabel E. Lyon April 19, 1930 in Pueblo, but it was recorded in Otero County.

In 1920 Fremont County George Lyons, 46 and Mary S. 39 have Mabel 18, Lois 13, LaVila 6, and Madison 2 - all kids were born in Colorado.

Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City has a George A. Lyon buried Aug 29, 1944 and Mary S. August 19, 1965.

In 1940 Jess is ranching in Custer County, married to a Mabel E. 39, Colorado, with LaVila I. 9, Colorado.  They said they were in Canon City in 1935.  So they might have named her after Mabel's sister.

In 1949 LaVila Guy recorded teacher experience in Kit Carson County.

Lakeside Cemetery also has a Lavila I. Clark - October 6, 1930 - June 2, 2003.

In 2012 Wayne Clark and LaVila Clark conveyed a quarter in 28, 8S 40W to John and Ellen Bradshaw.  (Sherman County, Kansas, not far from Kit Carson County)

Jerry and Mable are in Kit Carson County in 1940, with Richard, David, Leona, Margaret, Pauline, Yvanne, and Roberta.,

George cash-claimed a quarter in 21, 4S 46W in 1912.

Myrtle proved up 240 acres in 13 and 14, 4S 46W in 1914, witnesses Frank M. Guy and Jessy L. Guy, of Fox, and William Foreman and Ralph Riggs of Idalia.

They're farming in Fremont County, Colorado in 1920, with Frances E. 8, Mildred M. 5, and Ruth V. 1, all three girls born in Colorado.

In 1930 Fremont County, Myrtle does laundry, says she's widowed, with Frances - a saleslady in a music store- , Mildred and Ruth.

 Frances Young married Keith Sizelove in Canon City September 23, 1935, performed by Rev. Gordon McKean.

Mildred might be the one marrying Robert Hack in Cripple Creek April 15, 1935.

Ruth Young, 17, married Wilsie Riddle, 18, in Canon City  April 12, 1936.

In 1940 Canon City Myrtle, doing housework for a private home, is living with Wilson and Ruth Riddle, farmers, who have Walter, 2.

Myrtle might be the one buried January 17, 1946 in Lakeside Cemetery, Canon City. 14A, block 12, lot 4.  Wilsie Arthur Riddle - June 9, 1917- July 14, 1998 is in 14, Block 16.  Ruth Vent Riddle is in 14, 16, too, buried Dec 17, 1948, and Walter Arthur buried June 13, 1942 is in 14, 16.

Mabel Guy, born March 3, 1901, died January 1982, last address Penrose, Fremont County.

FindAGrave has a Jess Lee Guy buried in Lakeside, born August 30, 1888, dying January 12, 1983, a Mabel E. Guy born March 3, 1901- death January 8, 1982, a Francis Marion Guy buried May 19, 1944, and a Matilda Guy buried February 11, 1926.  Probably Myrtle's brother and parents.

JERRY GUY
Dead at 89 Jerry Guy, 89, pioneer resident of Stratton, passed away May 20. Mr. Guy had been in ill health since the first of the year and had been confined for the past month in the St. Joseph of the Plains hospital in Cheyenne Wells. Survivors are his wife Mabel, Sidney, Nebraska; two sons Richard, Bethune and David, Elizabeth; six daughters Jane Bandimere, Leona Chapman, Margaret Chapman, Paonia; Pauline Berver, New Mexico; Roberta Kindred, Sidney and Joan Wolf, Alamosa. Services were held May 24 at 1:30 p.m. in the Hendricks Mortuary, Burlington, where burial was made in Fairview Cemetery.

2006-Mabel is buried in the Burlington cemetery.

Mabel Ann (Pugh) Guy departed this life April 9, 1986 at the age of 92 years 9 months. She was born to John J. and Jane E. (Richards) Pugh Sept. 6, 1893 at Tuttle, Colo. She was baptized in the Christian faith at an early age. She attended schools at Tuttle and Stratton through 10th grade completing her education at Norton, Kansas. She taught the elementary grades for many years. On Feb. 28, 1916 she was united in marriage to Jerry Guy. To this union were born 8 children. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Richard and his wife Betty of Bethune, Jane and husband Horace Bandimere of Arvada, David and his wife Alvina of Stratton, Leona and her husband Dean Chapman of Mesa, Arizona, Margaret and husband Vernon Chapman of Mesa, Arizona, Pauline and Husband Ruff Berver of Silver City, New Mexico, JoAnne & husband William Wolf of Monte Vista, Roberta and her husband Dale Kindred of Spokane, Wash. Also 25 grand children, a host of great grand and great great grand children, 3 sisters and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers and one sister. Services were held Monday, April 14 at the Stratton United Methodist Church, interment was at the Burlington Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Hendricks Mortuary.

  Keith K. Sizelove, 58, 107 W. Santa Fe, died early today at St. Catherine Hospital of injuries suffered Monday night in a one-vehicle wreck south of Garden City. Born Dec. 20, 1910, at Pratt, he moved to Garden City two years ago from Fullerton, Calif. He was a, retired cement finisher. Mr. Sizelove married Lucy Lazarone on June 6, 1949, at Raton, N. M. He was a member of the Christian Church. A brother, Dutch, died Saturday and will be buried Wednesday in Kiowa, Kan. Survivors include the widow, Lucy, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Diana Stimson, Hobbs, N. M., and Marlene Sizelove, Catalina Island, Calif.; four step-daughters, Mrs. Warren Staab, Walnut, Calif., Mrs. Mary Smith, Camden, Ark., Mrs. Harold Haney, Jackson, Miss., and Mrs. Mary Ann Billiard, 107 W. Santa Fe; one step-son, Sammy Furo, Little Rock, Ark.; his mother, Mrs. Stella B. Kocher, San Bernardino, Calif.; a brother, Ted, Wichita; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Armstrong, Sylacauga, Ala., Mrs. Bea Fazzine, Florence, Colo., Mrs. Verdie Eckles, Green Valley Lake, Calif., and Mrs. Leta Carter, Cincinnati, Ohio; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Darlene Golden, Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Minerva Balderston, Georgetown, Calif. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Garnand Funeral Home.

Keith was in Pratt, Kansas in 1920, nine, born in Kansas, with mother Stella 38, brother Leroy 16, sisters Leota B. 14 and Minnie M. 10.

Mildred Hack, 25, is in Los Angeles in 1940, married to Robert Hack, 27, born in Kansas.  They were in Canon City in 1935.  Robert is a costing clerk for a furniture factory.  They have Ronald 3, born in Colorado, and Roberta, 2, California.

Robert's family was farming in Fremont County in 1920.

In 1940 Frances E. Sizemore is in Los Angeles, saying she was in Canon City in 1935.  She says she's married, but no spouse, and is a housekeeper in a private home.  Marlene D., 3, born in California, is with her.

Frances Young Sizelove died October 28, 1994 in Santa Barbara, born May 11, 1911, father's name Young, mother's Guy.
